I was actually referred to Dr. Van Geem by a third vet I took my pet to. He always seems to be very up on the latest research on many different diseases. He tends to be a bit on the serious and quiet side, but he has always been very helpful and even optimistic when things were not going so well with another cat I had who was very ill. He helped me keep her alive for many years beyond what other vets said was possible. His wife Erin is a sweet and steady presence in the front office, and I really love his staff. The best thing about his clinic is that he really encourages the owners to be present during procedures, and to be there with their pets when they come out of anestheia. I trust Dr. Van Geem more than any other vets I've seen in the area.

In fact, they said that with thousands of dollars in treatments we could extend her life by only 60 days but she would be miserable. In the end, we decided that it was time for us to let her go. She was extremely cocky about it too, like this has worked numerous times before, so it would for sure work on me. I stopped services there. I requested to get my cat back, who was not shaved at all-- anywhere-- so how was an ultrasound done? Dr. Johnson then doubled down and told me TWO vets looked at this phantom ultrasound that miraculously happened without shaving my cat's hair and they both agreed it was a lymph node. Long story short, I took my cat to an honest vet who did shave the lump, took a sample, and saw it was an abscess. He received antibiotics and is doing fine. Practices like the service I received at Gold Country are detestable and should be banned. Do better.

I told her I didn't request a test! She informed me she needed one to get the shot. I told her that's not what the doctor said. She had all her lab work done previously when she got neutered. She said that was 2025 last year. I said could you please go back and read her chart you got the wrong dog! She was here two months ago. To make it short we were there for hour and 15 min. I refused to pay for the test that I did not request she wouldn't give her the heart worm shot. Secondly manager asked why I requested for Jenna not to be seen in the future with my dog. Told her the story and she said it's just a miscommunication and told the receptionist to make sure they charge me for a physical exam. Which they added the heart worm exam with it. That cost $82 for the exam n I usually pay only $45 totally ripped off and manager didn't help at all!!

Then they act like they were doing me a big favor when they forgot to fill it out on Wednesday the following week and they had to fill it out on Thursday. I am not someone who tries to attack a business online. The only reason I am writing this is because I feel I was genuinely disrespected and wronged, when I simply just wanted some accountability and integrity in return for their miscommunication and failure to produce lab results when they said they would. It is concerning to take a loved one in to find out what might be wrong, trust the clinic to handle it, and then be left hanging for days wondering if something serious is happening and whether they need immediate attention. On November 13 I brought my dog, Buck, to North Fork Vet for a checkup (vomiting in-digested food and red itchy paws) and paid over three hundred dollars for full bloodwork. I was told the results would be ready that night or the next day. No one called. Wanting to be patient and give them time, I didn't call back right away. It wasn't until Tuesday, November 18, that I finally reached out since it had been several days with no updates. I was told a veterinarian would call me soon. No one called. On November 24 I called again and was transferred to Ben, the manager. Instead of solutions he gave me excuses. He said the doctor had personal matters (this is 11 days after the fact) which I completely understand, but that doesn't help me get any closer to answers. I had paid for important tests and still had zero information about my dog's health. This morning, after an already frustrating conversation, Ben called me back. He did not have results. He called only to tell me that the owner of the clinic "tried to call me and left a voicemail." That is where everything fell apart. My voicemail has been full for over two months. I got ahold of AT&T and into my account and opened the call history and there were no incoming calls from the vet on Nov 18th. I didn't have any incoming calls that day only 3 outgoing calls, 1 of them was to NorthFork Vet at 9:23 am (the call that I made to them to try and get an update on the labs). Here's the thing, The clinic has my email on file. If they truly reached a full mailbox, they could have easily emailed results. My phone number has been the same for thirty years, so the claim that a message was left is not true unless they were calling the wrong number. I was frustrated, and I am honest about that. I never yelled, but I was emotional after paying for tests, getting no results, being told different stories each time, and then being blamed for ignoring a voicemail that literally could not have been left. When I tried to express this, Ben said, "I don't know what's wrong with you." That comment to a worried pet owner was unacceptable. He then told me that he would no longer be working with me or my dog. Honestly, once trust is broken I understand that. He said my money would be refunded, which I appreciate. It was truly never about the money, I just wanted to know that Buck didn't have any major complications. What shocked me was that he also said the veterinarian would not be calling me at all anymore and that my dog's lab results would be emailed with no explanation from any doctor. I did finally receive the labs today from North Fork Vet, but now I have to go to a different vet and pay more just to have a professional walk me through the findings. North Fork may have been in business since 1984 and may have a good reputation, but none of that changes what happened to me. I paid for lab work and never received a single call from a veterinarian. I was given conflicting explanations, told things that were not true, blamed for a voicemail that cannot exist, and eventually dismissed entirely. I am writing this so other pet owners know what can happen. No one caring for a pet should feel ignored, blamed or disrespected like this. I wish the clinic the best, but I am extremely disappointed in how I was treated and how this situation was handled. To leave on a positive note, thank you so much for taking care of Buck for the first couple of years. We really had nothing but positive outcomes until recently. I scheduled a hospice consult for my sweet 13 year old lab and received a quick response with a call from Jennifer. Even though I never met Jennifer, I felt like she was holding my hand during the whole process. When it was time for our hospice consult, Dr. Chandler came to our house and assessed our boy along with going over quality of life. She even gave him a treatment before she left to see if it would help his mobility. After the consult, I received a very thorough email from Dr. Chandler giving me a breakdown of my dog's prognosis along with some treatment options. She reached out to other mobile vets on my behalf and provided helpful links for every option of care that she gave me. Jennifer also followed up to check on Oakley to see how he was doing. When it was time to make the decision for me to let him go, I texted Dr. Chandler (after hours on her day off). She still responded. She came out a couple days later to our home and we were able to give him a peaceful goodbye on our lawn, which was his favorite place. Dr. Chandler treated Oakley with such care and dignity from start to finish. Jennifer also called me again to check on my wellbeing a week after we said goodbye. I'm super confused about all the good reviews but maybe I'm missing something? I went to drop my…read moredog off for the first time and asked to see the facilities. Its just like a shelter. Dog are not exercised and expected to go the bathroom in one half of the kennel. I asked when they go outside and she said they don't so I left with my dog. This is a super stressful environment for a dog with the close quarters and all the barking plus no exercise. When I called to make the reservation I was told all the dogs got one on one time. The staff person said they are only taken out of the kennel once per day while they clean it in the morning and that's it. No walks, playtime, etc unless they have "downtime," which she said they wouldn't because it was too busy. The staff I dealt with was super kind and understood my concerns. I won't be back.
