I'm super confused about all the good reviews but maybe I'm missing something? I went to drop my dog off for the first time and asked to see the facilities. Its just like a shelter. Dog are not exercised and expected to go the bathroom in one half of the kennel. I asked when they go outside and she said they don't so I left with my dog. This is a super stressful environment for a dog with the close quarters and all the barking plus no exercise. When I called to make the reservation I was told all the dogs got one on one time. The staff person said they are only taken out of the kennel once per day while they clean it in the morning and that's it. No walks, playtime, etc unless they have "downtime," which she said they wouldn't because it was too busy. The staff I dealt with was super kind and understood my concerns. My last review was written with much sadness. An unfortunate experience had left us feeling very disappointed. What had happened to this kennel, that we had been happily using for over 20 years? Nate called us to follow up and hear our side of the interaction with his employee. Once he learned what had occurred, he did further investigating and found that other clients had also had bad experiences. His phone call informed us that this person has been let go. Having had nothing but the most pleasant and safe boarding care in the past, we were at a loss as to where to go in the future? After our call with Nate we will be returning to Empire Kennels for our future boarding needs. Thank you Nate, Saxxon and Susan, for being willing to address this problem. Our little guys had a nice stay! We decided to visit a week prior to our reservation and we got a tour. The facilities we clean and looked very comfortable for the pups. We filled out our paperwork and showed our vaccinations paperwork as well. The following week we dropped off our little guys for their overnight stay. We came up the next morning and they were happy to see us and looked like they had a good stay. They weren't at all stressed out when we got home. They slept and lounged like normal. Was just there and treated terribly. Granted we had forgotten today was their appointment and she graciously called us so we came right in. When there first thing she said was that if they were late again she wouldn't take them. We told her my husband had been calling to find out when our dogs appt was but they never called back and we were informed they don't take messages. My husband made a comment that they didn't answer the phone when he called and she directed us out of the office and refused to groom our dogs. She is not very nice, have witnessed this before, Will NEVER RETURN THERE AGAIN. One word: Nate. The kennel is not my dogs' favorite place to be, as they'd rather be hiking and sleeping with us, but Nate might be their second favorite. I don't blame them. He's super friendly, he knows them by name, he even knows my other dogs' names that haven't been alive for over 5 years. Empire Kennels has great service, is very clean, and the dogs actually don't seem unhealthy or traumatized when we pick them up. We've tried a few other places and have had some pretty horrible experiences - seriously. At EK they're actually given their medicine (if they're on any), fed and watered, given time in the pen area to wander around, their kennels are actually cleaned after they go to the bathroom. Imagine that! Anyway, this should all be a given, but it's definitely not at other places. EK is the best and Nate leads the pack! Woof. read more

After a bad experience at a different local kennel decided to try Empire. Had a friend also refer me. As I walked in to drop my dog off I was pleasantly surprised of the layout and smell...there was no smell. Didn't smell like a kennel and was very clean. The guy at the desk is really friendly and helpful. You can tell the employees actually care and like dogs. They put my shy/scared dog in a quieter place inside with only a few dogs, I didn't suggest this they just are that attentive. When I picked him up they had him groomed (at my request, they do charge but not much) and washed his blanket!! I asked how he did at grooming and overall cuz he can nip when scared. He didn't bite or nip. They warmed up to him with walks and treats..which they don't charge extra for!!!! I feel totally comfortable leaving him here again. Def give them a try!! read more

Big kudos to Empire Kennels!!! We went for a meet and greet on a Saturday and my dogs did not bark or shake in fear. We were amazed by this (as they do not like strangers they bark and become protective)so we made our deposit for a Thursday and Friday. At drop off time on Thursday again my dogs did not have the barking at stranger danger. They went happily and all indications they were fine and treated very well, it was evident when we picked them up. Yes they were happy to come home but they were happy during there two day stay. My husband and I heard about Empire Kennels from a friend who enthusiastically recommended them. We made an appointment to come in and look around before we booked our three dogs for a stay. The staff was very accommodating in showing us around and explaining their procedures. We felt more than comfortable in having our dogs stay there. Well, this kennel has more than exceeded our expectations! I don't even know where to start. First of all, everyone is so welcoming the minute you walk in the door. I think they even watch for you to pull up, because on so many occasions, we have been greeted out by our car as staff would help us round up our pups. We are always welcomed to walk back to the kennel area to see where they will be staying. Consistently, when we pick our dogs up, we are given a detailed account on how they did. Also, each and every time we have picked them up, everything has been ready to go: beds, toys, containers, food bowls, etc. Staff is never overwhelmed by meds, supplements, and/or herbs that our dogs take. They meticulously record everything and are so responsible in their care of all dogs who stay there. And in addition, whenever I call to make an appointment and say my name, they immediately ask how our dogs are doing and mention them by name. We have taken our dogs here for the past 2+ years and we never, ever worry about how they are cared for. That is a degree of comfort that's worth its weight in gold. read more

Picked up my dog on Friday afternoon and waited 20 minutes for service. Because it was 45 minutes after 3 pm(?!) they forced me to pay another days cost of $25.The attendent said "rules are rules" and walked away! I have been bringing my dog here for the past 7 years. The dog care is okay at best, customer service is absolutely horrible. It appears, if you are a show dog owner you get preferential treatment, everybody else they don't have time for. read more

I know my dogs will be taken care of at Empire Kennels because as soon as I arrive they wag their tails and then they get taken down the hall, they are still wagging! Dogs don't lie. When I pick them up they are happy to see me and look healthy happy and well nourished. 2 of my boys are pitt bulls, (other two are older border collies) they have high energy and love to play full throttle, the staff know how to deal with them and keep them exercised and happy. I have zero concerns about how my dogs will be treated and the care they will receive while we are gone. I feel really lucky to be a client of Empire Kennels. The staff are great, friendly and the prices are fair. They let me bring my dogs' huge bed and they go in the same kennel because they love each other. Thanks guys!!!!
