The staff are UBER friendly and the diagnosis and treatment that we got for our cat was EXACTLY what he needed. The total amount of treatment that he could have received could have been $1400, but the vet (Dr. Marrs) explained very patiently what we could do as a minimum treatment, and only add more if needed. Our cat is doing great now and it doesn't look like we even need more treatment at this point! She completely solved the problem with minimal cost / work. I almost never write negative reviews. If you look at my history on Yelp or Google you will see that when I leave a review it is almost always positive. I am not someone who tries to attack a business online. The only reason I am writing this is because I feel I was genuinely disrespected and wronged, when I simply just wanted some accountability and integrity in return for their miscommunication and failure to produce lab results when they said they would. It is concerning to take a loved one in to find out what might be wrong, trust the clinic to handle it, and then be left hanging for days wondering if something serious is happening and whether they need immediate attention. On November 13 I brought my dog, Buck, to North Fork Vet for a checkup (vomiting in-digested food and red itchy paws) and paid over three hundred dollars for full bloodwork. I was told the results would be ready that night or the next day. No one called. Wanting to be patient and give them time, I didn't call back right away. It wasn't until Tuesday, November 18, that I finally reached out since it had been several days with no updates. I was told a veterinarian would call me soon. No one called. On November 24 I called again and was transferred to Ben, the manager. Instead of solutions he gave me excuses. He said the doctor had personal matters (this is 11 days after the fact) which I completely understand, but that doesn't help me get any closer to answers. I had paid for important tests and still had zero information about my dog's health. This morning, after an already frustrating conversation, Ben called me back. He did not have results. He called only to tell me that the owner of the clinic "tried to call me and left a voicemail." That is where everything fell apart. My voicemail has been full for over two months. I got ahold of AT&T and into my account and opened the call history and there were no incoming calls from the vet on Nov 18th. I didn't have any incoming calls that day only 3 outgoing calls, 1 of them was to NorthFork Vet at 9:23 am (the call that I made to them to try and get an update on the labs). Here's the thing, The clinic has my email on file. If they truly reached a full mailbox, they could have easily emailed results. My phone number has been the same for thirty years, so the claim that a message was left is not true unless they were calling the wrong number. I was frustrated, and I am honest about that. I never yelled, but I was emotional after paying for tests, getting no results, being told different stories each time, and then being blamed for ignoring a voicemail that literally could not have been left. When I tried to express this, Ben said, "I don't know what's wrong with you." That comment to a worried pet owner was unacceptable. He then told me that he would no longer be working with me or my dog. Honestly, once trust is broken I understand that. He said my money would be refunded, which I appreciate. It was truly never about the money, I just wanted to know that Buck didn't have any major complications. What shocked me was that he also said the veterinarian would not be calling me at all anymore and that my dog's lab results would be emailed with no explanation from any doctor. I did finally receive the labs today from North Fork Vet, but now I have to go to a different vet and pay more just to have a professional walk me through the findings. North Fork may have been in business since 1984 and may have a good reputation, but none of that changes what happened to me. I paid for lab work and never received a single call from a veterinarian. I was given conflicting explanations, told things that were not true, blamed for a voicemail that cannot exist, and eventually dismissed entirely. I am writing this so other pet owners know what can happen. No one caring for a pet should feel ignored, blamed or disrespected like this. I wish the clinic the best, but I am extremely disappointed in how I was treated and how this situation was handled. To leave on a positive note, thank you so much for taking care of Buck for the first couple of years. We really had nothing but positive outcomes until recently. I have great experiences here already. The level of involvement from the veterinary doctors is pretty remarkable. Either that or I have been going to the wrong vets most of my life. Yesterday I brought both cats in. One just to update her on her shots. The other got his yearly exam. Dr. Whitten really impressed me. I was having difficulties over this past year understanding how I'm supposed to separate and feed and document and weigh my two cats because they're both overweight. A momma cat and her son, both over 5 yrs old-one is more obese. I have expressed my concerns to others before but Dr. Whitten got through to me finally. She really really stopped and took more than enough time to help map out a plan for their diets, willing to listen patiently, helped me see what I was supposed to consider, helped write down everything. I couldn't have it makes sense in my head before it just was too complicated but she helped me And now we have a plan so I can get my cats healthy. Also in the past I have called them on the fly for help with things not emergency but things that to me were important and they were able to fit me in very quickly. I think this is a great place. All the staff was incredible today. We saw Dr. Marrs and they told us when we got there that they were a bit busy and that it might be a wait (we didn't wait very long even with them being busy). After hearing that, I expected a more rushed appointment. But that was not the case. Dr. Marrs was incredible. She took so much time with us and was so thorough. She made sure we understood the treatment plan. She also took the time to personally type out home instructions that were customized for each of our dogs. Now for the payment. I expected a lot worse. My friend highly recommended North Fork Vet, so I took my Robert De Niro for 2nd opinion, Dr. Finn saw my baby and I told him that he has ccl Injuries. He said right away, "I am not surprised, his ankles are hyperextended." And this was just by looking at my baby, he then palpates and feel and showed me. He needed surgery for his ankles to not put any strain on his knees. I love this Vet! I will only go to this clinic for my dog. They are very knowledgeable! The staff, from the receptionists to the docs are all very friendly. BTW, my baby, Robert De Niro has been having back leg problems since March. My original vet at 1st said it was just full anal gland, they expressed him and said he should be better. I took him back because he didn't get better. I have been going to North Fork Vet for over 6 years with two dogs, and this will be my last time. They will try to upsell you on everything. My old dog went in for a surgery to remove some benign tumors, the doctor unsuccessfully tried to remove some tumors we hadn't discussed and I did not approve. They lost all of both of my dog's records, they made me get a heart worm test 6 months ago, and again today before administering the heart worm prevention medicine. Now they are making me come again in 6 months because they will not give me the 1year heart worm medication. I agreed to come back in 6 months, but their computer system won't let them book appointments 6 months in advance, which is ridiculous for a vet clinic. Plus the front desk staff is rude. I would not recommend and I will be finding a new vet. read more

My 13 month shepherd needed emergency attention on a serious infection on her rear. I booked a 7:30 am drop off appointment (as this was the soonest they could get her in). When walking in, the receptionist didn't even say hello, interact with my baby who was in sever pain, nor ask any questions about her current state of condition. It's as if she was miserable and hated her job. Without any warm interaction, she immediately tried to walk Layla back to the kennel area. I asked to walk with her as I could sense her uneasiness... this is when she points to a crate instructing Layla " your gonna have to get in".. I immediately notice that the crate was clearly way to small for a 75 lb shepherd with a rear end infection. I asked how long she would be in there, and she said it could take until the late afternoon and she had no idea when Layla would be seen. This made me uncomfortable knowing how much pain my baby was in, so I asked her if I can wait in the lobby/outside with my girl instead of crating her before her appointment due to the amount of pain she was in. The receptionist explained to me that I was not aloud to do so which seemed strange considering the circumstances. I called back to reschedule my appointment to avoiding having to unnecessarily crate my baby who could hardly sit or lay down at the time. This is when I spoke with Ben (Dr. Sherrif's son) in which I explained the situation. Although we have been coming here since she was a 16 weeks, he advised me that crating is protocol no matter the circumstance in a drop off situation and that I would need to take Layla to another vet to be seen if she was unable to do this... very unprofessional and disheartening for my baby girl who was unable the sit or lay down comfortably at the time. She eventually needed emergency attention as a result of the delay of care. Fortunately, the Auburn Animal Medical center was able to immediately see Layla and empathetically address her condition. I Would recommend scheduling your appointment with them if your baby needs immediate attention and empathetic care. read more

Came back to North Fork Vet for an emergency c section for one of my girl chihuahuas, Lucy. North Fork was very accommodating and told us to bring her in immediately and they would take care of her! Of course c sections for dogs are pricey, however, their prices were absolutely affordable. Most importantly, they took excellent care of her and her new little girl puppy. We brought her in at 9AM and she was ready to leave by 1PM. They gave us very detailed discharge instructions. I'm confident that North Fork Vet can do it all! Thank you to all of the staff for being so warm, friendly, and caring! They were very comforting and reassuring when we brought in our Lucy. Used to really like this place, despite the fact they are more pricey than other places. How this how covid disaster is being handled is just that, a disaster. Made an appointment for a quality of life appointment and was surprised to find out I had to have it out in the lobby surrounded by barking dogs and people carrying about their own appointments or other things. Why am I paying over $60 for a one on one exam when I'm being rushed and getting a very low quality exam experience? Especially something as personal as an end of life conversation. I don't like how veterinary medicine is just turning into a money grab experience, whatever happened to actually caring about the life of the animal and not just about nickel and diming their owners who are already doing the best they can during these trying times. I never once felt rushed nor unsure with Dr Sheriff. He broke every detail down and looked at every possibility to determine my dogs injury with out extra unnecessary test or cost. My dog who's not been eating for two weeks, and yelping when picked up and I felt was slowly suffering or dying was with in an hour of leaving North fork with diagnosis and treatment for injury my dog was eating and wagging his tail and following me around like he used to! Every single doctor, technician and team member here is an animal lover, tireless worker, and completely dedicated to the health and wellbeing of your animal. We brought our dog Duke here after a propane truck ran over both of his rear legs, crushing his left leg in multiple places. Fearing amputation was the only clear option (and not optimal for a 90 lb St. Bernard), Vet Technician Shannon wasn't willing to accept that fate, and worked tirelessly to find a surgeon nearby that was available, willing and able to operate. She called me in tears to share the happy news that she was able to schedule a surgeon who could operate on time. I was immediately impressed by her tenacity, dedication, passion and concern. Her love for her work and for our dog Duke was overwhelmingly apparent. Both Dr. Sheriff and Dr. Yule were absolutely incredible as well. The initial surgery went well, however, 2 weeks into Duke's recovery, we discovered the steel plate holding his leg together had snapped clean in half. Dr. Sheriff was completely sympathetic and apologetic, and emphasized how rare an occurrence like this is, and likely the fault of the plate manufacturer. After discussing another costly surgery and the worry about additional payments, Dr. Sheriff, along with his incredible technicians Shannon and Caitlin told me not to worry about the money, they would come up with a solution. They created a GoFundMe page for Duke, raising over $5,000 towards his second surgery to replace the broken plate and his recovery costs! Duke spent months boarded full time at North Fork, because the team was so dedicated to seeing him heal! We couldn't believe the quality of care he was receiving. Fatefully, it was during this time of receiving 24/7 care at North Fork that Duke received another shocking blow. Caitlin noticed Duke's stomach looked swollen. After examining more closely under x-ray, they discovered his stomach had rotated 360 degrees and they had to conduct emergency stomach surgery right away. This is somewhat common in bigger chested dogs, but when it happens, the window to correct it is narrow - often only 2-3 hours before blood supply is choked off and the dog dies. If he hadn't been there under their watchful care, Duke wouldn't be alive today. Happily, Duke is many months on in his healing now, and doing remarkably well. We joked about our shared custody with North Fork. Every time we pull up to the clinic for his weekly check-in's, he wags his tail, so happy to be there and to see his friends. We can't thank the amazing team at North Fork enough - everyone from the friendly receptionists, to the vet techs, doctors, and staff members for making us feel like family when we walk in, and for the unparalleled help and healing they offered our dog Duke. First they saved his legs. Then they saved his life. Thank you North Fork Vet Clinic!!!! read more

My 96 year old aunt called me at 7:00 AM to say that her dog was throwing up blood. I called her regular vet and they told us that they couldn't See her dog Until Monday.... it was Friday. My father took his dogs in to be boarded for a week or so in July, which he paid in full for at the time of service (why else would he have gotten his dogs back??). He said the service was good, and the dogs were happy and refreshed after being there, however they are now trying to bill me for the same services he already paid for! Beware if you're bringing your dog or cat. Dr Sheriff is wonderful and I trust him 100% however he was not available to see my friends dog. So we saw a different vet. This dog was in terrible pain and had been diagnosed by. Dr Sheriff is having a disc injury shown in an xray in her neck. Now she could barely walk after reinjury She just wanted to lay in a ball and barely move. When you picked her up, she just went limp. we explain that to the vet hoping to get pain meds for her the same as dr sheriff Perscribed that worked before.The vet said well we better run a blood test first before we give anything. Later, the vet came out and told us that she would give us the medication we came in for. But we couldn't take her until they were done with the enema. Why an enema? When my friend checked out, they were two medication's for diarrhea and constipation as well as the one for pain. The appointment came to $477.61 the Vet suggested that we come back on Monday for more test. Evidently, when the first round of test came back, it showed "low normal" in some category. She wanted to do more tests to see if she could track down if the low normal would indicate a problem. If you don't watch these people very closely, They will run test that you don't need and give you medication's that are not necessary. Maybe she got this dog mixed up with somebody else's dog that had a diarrhea or constipation problem. This poor 7 pound dog that was in so much pain she could barely move was being forced to have an enema, which had nothing to do with why she was in there. No one has acknowledged this situation. read more
