Wish I could give more than 5 stars. We have an 11 year old 180lb St. Bernard that we took to multiple other groomers over the past year and all have quit 1/2 thru or just flat said no. Because of that she had matting and flea issues, and sadly she was just a mess. They got us in and took their time making her comfortable and she looks the best she has ever looked in the 10 years we have had her. Great updates before, throughout, and even the next day! I've been taking my white cockapoo (cocker spaniel-poodle mix) here for years! I began as a client when Ashley had her small, family run grooming business out of her home. As her business grew she opened up The Smiling Dog in Rocklin. And boy does business keep on growing. Ashley is the one who cuts and designs my dog's sometimes elaborate do's. Once we grew and groomed his hair to look like a stegosaurus. My dog usually rocks a Mohawk with a bushy lions tail. with everything else shaves close. Ashley does shape the hair on his face to look so cute. She is a true sculpture artist for sure, on a moving target no less. They have animal friendly dye, which reassures me that my baby is safe. Rachelle the dyeing expert, dyes like a true artist. She does hombre styles so well! My dog's hair styles have brought on-lookers smile and laughter often. People have even stopped their cars to comment on my dog's colorful hair styles. Once on a walk at the park, a little girl screamed out with delight, "Look! A tie-dyed dog! I've never seen a tie-dyed dog before!" We also take our other dog there to be groomed as well. She's a mutt of every sort so she's hard to describe. But she comes out looking great. Their basic groom includes everything; shampoo, anal gland expression, nail trim, ear cleaning, and your desired hair cut, if need be. And of course dye jobs are extra but not expensive at all. Hats off to the lady who groomed by rescue dog. My dog's hair was matted, gunks in her ears, and pretty foul breath. The sweet groomer took her time since Emmy was so scared and it was her first time. 4 hours later, I picked up a happy and cleanly cut dog. We agreed to shave all her fur and have a fresh start. They fired me as a client today because I called them out in injuring my dog for the 2nd time. Instead of apologizing and being more diligent in grooming they decide we are not a "Good fit". You tell me if this is ok with you if it was your Golden Doodle? Apparently they don't let me post the picture but they injured his testicles for the second time... Made them bleed... Update: Ashley reached out to me and corrected the situation. Excellent customer service on the owner's part. Thank you Ashley. Original feedback: The groomers do a nice job. The only issue I had was when I took my dog for daycare, they charged me for a grooming service that I did not request nor did they get my permission first. My dog was already scheduled for a full groom appointment two days later so I was basically charged twice for the extraneous grooming services. When I brought it to their attention, the young lady at the front desk said, " oh, sorry about that." and would not reimburse me for the duplicate charge. I am disappointed in the poor handling of the situation. read more

We have had non-shedding dogs for over 20 years so we have experienced many groomers. We currently have 4 dogs. We have used The Smiling Dog faithfully for years. Pre-Covid, all the grooming was excellent so we referred many people to TSD. Since late 2020 and thru all of 2021, we have received 7 bad/terrible grooming and three cases of kennel cough. We bring our 8 month old Goldendoodle here for daycare a few times a week and he absolutely loves it! The staff are friendly and I love that they are just as excited as he is when he arrives. Dallas (our puppy care provider) is such a sweetheart and obviously a total dog person! I also had him groomed here for his first haircut. Our boy has pretty wild hair and they did a great job grooming him. I was very specific about wanting him to still have the teddy bear look and they did exactly what I asked. I brought my dog in for orientation for daycare and was not super impressed. It seemed like there were just two rooms with a couple of dogs hanging out and not a lot of toys/equipment to play with or on. After leaving a looked for other dog daycares and found one with the same 5-star reviews but more and further from work and home. I called them and they said they are going out of business this week but referred me to The Smiling Dog. I figured I would try it because I do have really long days at work. To say my dog was so happy while he was there is an understatement. He was having so much fun when I got there. They had videos of him playing with a Pug, he wasn't so sure of the large dog room so they kept him in the front. This place is more then amazing. First time I had my two shihtzu's fully groomed here I loved it The groomers read the dogs body language so well. They are so gentle and professional. Pro tip, if they let you, book your next 6 appointments in advance. They are overbooked (months out) but worth their weight in gold. I took my elderly dog here upon moving to Rocklin in 2020. She was an 12 year old mini-schnauzer when they met. She passed away due to a brain tumor in Spring 2022. In her life, she's had a lot of grooming experiences, some good some bad. She was only seen here 6-7 times, but they remembered her each time, and she came home happy. I will say, the Sympathy Card I received six weeks after her death brought me to tears. read more

Amazing experience! They did such a great job and did proper deshedding for our german shepherd. When they called after 2 and a half hours that she is ready and my husband went to pick her up, our Tarina was calmly sitting there on the table in the hands of their groomer. I could not believe how clean she was, how clean was her undercoat, how nicely her nails were trimmed and most important how HAPPY she was! When we picked her up from our previous groomer she could not run out quick enough! What a difference this was! This is the place to go! Staff that works here is very kind and calm. To start I have used them for approximately 2+ years. When they started from they're home I was very happy. Since they moved to the Granite location it been going down hill. In the last year my 2 dogs would come home with issues. They have been cut, which I called about and SD said it was the dog sensitivity, which never happened before. The dogs would come home so thirsty they would go through bowls of water. The final straw was one of my dogs came home with kennel cough and passed it on to the other.
