We have two dogs, a chipoodle and a chiweenie. During the time we had Shalini checking on our babies, she sent photos, texts and videos so we knew what our fluffs were up to. She even voluntarily checked on our bearded dragon & beta fish for us and left the TV on Animal Planet for our pups. Our chiweenie, CoCo, had a very traumatic upbringing until she was rescued. She had severe social anxiety and could sometimes be aggressive. One thing I did notice, and this is why I'm writing this review, is that upon our arrival back home and over the next couple of weeks we saw significant change in CoCo's behavior. She was much more receptive to new faces and even warmer with us than she had ever been. Idk what Shalini did or maybe CoCo just realized that not all strangers are bad and some are friends, but it completely changed our outlook on what our life could be like with CoCo added to our family. I never knew the importance of a pet sitter until I met Shalini. I used to think that leaving my cat for a few days with a litter box full of litter and a huge feeder full of food was ok. I'll NEVER do that again. When I leave town knowing that she is visiting every day is a huge relief! My cat loves her! We decided to adopt a beautiful Great Dane on a Friday, after meeting him for the first time and falling in love. We forgot that we had a graduation ceremony the next day that was going to take up half of our day, and leaving a dog that size to roam the house alone was not a good idea. Well I'm sad to say that I have to find a new pet sitter. We've used Shalini in the past several times to watch our cats and she did a wonderful job, so wonderful that we HIGHLY recommended her to our family members with pets. But this last time, we received terrible service. To start off, we selected to have her show up for two visits: one - 1 hour visit and one - 30 minute visit everyday. She did not come for the full time and the reason we could tell is because we have Ring.com and we could easily track when she showed up and when she left. The second thing that happened was about half way through our family vacation, my sister in law (who was also using CC Pet Care) and I received a text message from Shalini stating that she had bumped her head and her knee the night before, so she wasn't sure if she could make her rounds that day and if we could find someone to cover. I texted Shalini back and told her to please figure it out as we had no one to cover. Shalini then said she could make the visit. Even though she was able to make the visit in the end, this made me very nervous and uncomfortable while I was on vacation. The third thing was that when I came home, she had clearly not cleaned the litter boxes as requested so there was cat urine all around the boxes. I counted how many bags of litter she put in a box in our garage and there was only one for each day instead of two. We have five cats, so cleanliness of litter boxes is EXTREMELY important and it's the only reason we pay for two visits a day instead of one. The final straw was that we had a bottle of vodka sitting on our kitchen counter top when we left and when we came home there was red lipstick around the opening of the bottle.... we never drink straight from the bottle and there is no way that the lipstick stain was there before we left. Super gross!! Overall, what bothered me the most was the dishonesty from Shalini. And the fact that when I tried to text her about it, she did not respond. We met Shalini several years ago when looking for a pet sitter for our two dogs and we were SO happy because I don't trust anyone with my dogs and the fact that I was happy with her and trusted her was a huge relief for me when out of town. Never had an issue with her sitting my dogs over the years (not that I know of) up until a few weeks ago when we had to go out of town for just a couple nights and hired her to do overnight stays. I hadn't used her services for almost a year so I don't know what's changed, but definitely something has! I cut my trip short and hurried home after what I saw going on at my home on my security cameras. Thank god nothing bad happened to my dog and I do think that she does genuinely care for animals, BUT my privacy was definitely invaded, she left everything unlocked and she had gone through all my personal belongings. I couldn't believe what I saw when I got home and was shocked she would do such a thing, especially knowing we hired her because we TRUSTED HER! Also, we found our alcohol bottles empty and in the trash. I called and texted her many times to let her know and get in touch with her and she ignored me. It's just sad because I hired her to have peace of mind while I was away and she totally violated my home, my privacy and ruined my family vacation. We are new to the area, and, after reading the reviews for Creature Comforts Pet Care, I was very anxious to meet Shalini in hopes that I can check finding a great, reputable pet sitter off of my list. Unfortunately, this business owner does not respond. I noticed she challenged the review of similar feedback on Yelp, so I'm providing my timeline of attempts to connect with her. 5/17/17 - I posted on Nextdoor asking for recommendations for pet boarding. Shalini responded and provided her website. 5/18/17 - I left Shalini a voice message with all of my contact info and dates I would need help with. Granted it was for Memorial Day weekend, not a lot of notice which I acknowledged in my message. I received a text response asking me to register my contact information on a website that validated that I was not a spammer. Did that - No response 5/19/17 - Submitted a note via her website in case she didn't receive the earlier message. No response. I went back to the Nextdoor message and posted a response to hers. 5/20/17 - Checked the Facebook page for this business and noticed she was posting pictures of the pets she was caring for and the dates of the photos were this week. I sent her a message via Facebook. Since the pictures were recent, yet she couldn't respond, I let her know I was taking my business elsewhere. She could have at least told me she couldn't acomodate my inquiry. 5/22 - Still no response. Although the reviews are great, they're not very recent. Definitely search out other pet sitters. I called a few other services and received responses within 3 - 24 hours. One even referred me to another sitter since she was already booked. THAT is how you take care of potential customers. Never again!! Use her service at your own risk. My bird died as a result of her negligence. She apparently did not give my green singing finches water because when I checked on them upon returning home, THEIR WATER DISH WAS BONE DRY!! Unfortunately, my favorite female finch died as a result!! In addition, my fish were on death door when I returned and their tank water was a thick brown, so dense that I could not see my fish, almost like lentil soup. I don't know how that happens, unless you severely overfeed. She said she changed some of the water, and there were lots of iridescent bubbles. I noticed the entire bottle of water conditioner was empty. The tank was so toxic that I had to immediately remove my fish, completely drain it and start over. Plus, when I returned I found green hair dye splattered on the walls, floor and my personal belongings in my master bathroom!!! For insult added to injury, she used some of my groceries without replacing them which was just plain annoying as they were for my dinner I had planned to fix upon my return home after a a 14 hour flight. I wondered why she insisted on full payment BEFORE the job began (which I refused to do), and now I know. If you do decide to use her, I would withhold payment until you return and insist that SHE IS THERE when you return so you can check on everything before you pay her. Oh, and use cameras. read more

"Molly" is a senior girl who is very shy and does not always take well with new people. Hoo boy. Where do I start? First, this wasn't our first time using Creature Comforts pet-sitting service. We went to Europe in 2016, and we were satisfied with Shalini's service then. She texted photos of all 4 of our cats every day and made an effort to find even our shyest girl each day. The boxes were clean when we got home, and there was food and water in the bowls. The cats seemed fine. So when we went home for a week this month for a family funeral, we didn't think twice about calling Shalini again. We seriously regret that decision. There has been a severe slide in Shalini's dedication to this job--and perhaps to her ethics in general. She is no longer trustworthy with beloved family pets. Our story: About 2 weeks before our trip, as soon as we knew we needed it, we arranged for 6 days of pet-sitting. Shalini remembered us, and everything seemed to go smoothly. Then, 2 days before our flight, she texted to tell me she'd lost our key (which is in itself not great, but it had been more than 2 years, so okay) and needed a new one. She wanted us to hide one outside for her. We were not about to leave a key to our house outside and then leave the state, so I told her we'd go out that day to make another spare for her, but she had to pick it up. She said she'd come by later that day. When she still wasn't there at 8pm and hadn't contacted us again, I texted and asked when she'd be over. I got a one-word response: "Tomorrow." By this time, we were getting very worried. We had to leave in just more than a day, and we'd be gone for a week. We scrambled to find someone else who could take care of our babies, and finally arranged for one of our son's friends to be on "standby" in case Shalini flaked. Shalini did come by and pick up the key, so, since we'd already paid her, we decided to assume the key follies were an aberration and continue with her service as planned. Which brings me to the second part of the story. We recently installed a home automation system that allows us to remotely control and monitor our thermostats, home security system, etc. Among other things, the system tracks each time an exterior door is opened or closed. There is also a small camera, which we set up when we leave for even an overnight, so we can check in on the cats. Usually, we set the camera up in the living room, where the cats mostly hang out, but this time, we put it in the kitchen, so we could see their food and water bowls and be sure they were being filled. Because of our ability to monitor what's going on in our home, we know these things with irrefutable certainty: 1) For the first two days, Shalini didn't notice the camera. So we were witness to her helping herself to snacks from our pantry both days. 2) On the third day, Shalini noticed the camera and turned it away--for about a minute or so, and then turned it back. Which is about a thousand times more suspicious than simply turning it away and leaving it that way would have been. What she was doing in that minute or so, we can't say for sure. We assume she was continuing her snackapaloosa. 3) She turned the camera again on the fourth day, for about a minute or so, and then turned it back. 4) And then there's this, the worst of it all: SHE DID NOT COME AT ALL ON THE FIFTH OR SIXTH DAYS! On Saturday evening, the sixth day, 2 days after Shalini's last visit, we called in our standby, who found the bowls empty and the litter boxes full. His entry and exit are the only activity at our exterior doors from when Shalini left on Thursday evening until we returned home on Sunday evening, so we know for sure she didn't come at all on the last 2 of 6 days we'd arranged for. I noticed that she posted photos of two of our cats to her FB page on both of those days, as if she had been at the house, but she must have taken them on an earlier day. I'm not sure what she was trying to accomplish with the subterfuge, since she clearly knew there was a camera that would tell us definitively that she had NOT been at the house. Thank goodness we had a back-up plan, but Shalini didn't know that. As far as she knew, she left our cats to go hungry for THREE DAYS, from her last visit on Thursday until our return home on Sunday night. Because she has at least one of our keys, we waited until we could change our locks before we posted this review, but I absolutely want to warn people that, however conscientious Shalini might once have been (though now I wonder how conscientious she ever has been), she should not be trusted with your family pets, or your home, now. She is horrible, do not use her. She does not tell the truth, we have a security system that monitors when the door is opened and closed, our cat needs to frequent visits minimum of 2 per day and she did not do this. She stated she did. Our cat only drinks from the water faucet. She left the water running and closed the shades, we were quite upset to discover she had only visited once. NEVER USE HER, she is deceptive and does not truly care for your pet. She is not truly caring for your pet and she is quick in and out. She always is SICK!!!
