Worst bedside manner of any doctor I have ever seen! My eyesight is worse than before cataract surgery. Would NEVER recommend him.

I had fears of an eye infection, and sought out an ophthalmologist. Based solely on Michelle's…read morereview I checked out the training of Dr. Lindsey and found we both attended the same med school. That was enough for me. I scheduled an appointment (I was able to be seen the next day) and the visit went smoothly. The office staff was friendly and efficient, and Dr. Lindsey was delightful. Every good thing Michelle said about Dr. Lindsey was true for me, too. We had a good time chatting about faculty we knew in common. My fears of an eye infection were groundless (my discomfort was most likely due to allergies so she gave me some eyedrops). I had her do a full refraction and eye exam since I was already there. She found my current eyeglass prescription was fine and didn't need to be changed, and that my eyes were perfectly healthy (she said they were likely the healthiest she'd see all day). I'll see her again in a year, and look forward to it. If you need an ophthalmologist who is well-trained in diseases of the eye as well as the normal eyeglass and contact lens fitting, then I recommend Dr. Lindsey. Other physicians who are members of the group practice (The Eye Institute of Austin) appear to be equally stellar in their pedigrees.

She listens well and proposes workable solutions for every little complaint - like loading me up with samples of various eye drops to try with my finicky gas permeable lenses. Her staff is excellent, as well, and for as long as I've been seeing her, she's had the same assistant, the same optometrist, the same contact lens expert - the longevity in this office just says something. Also, she hates waiting at the doctor's office, so she works hard to stay on schedule, which I so appreciate. Doctors who realize that their patients' time is valuable, too, are much too rare. I'd recommend Dr. Lindsey without reservation.

Never before have I come remotely close to the frustration that Dr. Ekeh left me with after my recent visit. The overwhelming feeling was "I can't make any sense out of anything he has said." He seemed to be grasping at straws. He said he wanted to ramp up my glaucoma medication despite the numbers were good and over more than ten years of my glaucoma successfully managed by someone else, now retired. Visual field tests show no major overall trend towards increased loss of peripheral vision. There was one recent test that was not good but I blame my state of mind when the test was taken. Indeed there is moderate to low loss of peripheral vision on one eye only. The vision issue I had been having has nothing to do with peripheral vision. Then he suggested bringing my cardiologist into the picture for neck problems -- again this is without high ocular pressures by their own testing. I stressed repeatedly that while it might be difficult I would like my issue diagnosed -- issue being that while driving in bright sunlight parts of my vehicle's instrument cluster and center display are washed out and impossible to read. There was nothing ambiguous about my description of the symptoms or my desire for diagnosis. I left with a prescription for additional eyedrops and a referral to a "Low Vision" facility. Low vision is defined as 20/70 or worse. My vision tests at 20/30 are not even in that ballpark. I had long texting back and forth with intake at the facility and when I told the very patient lady my symptoms was informed they had not told her any of that information re' symptoms etc. and it "changed everything." I canceled the appointment because they do not perform the needed diagnosis as to cause of the problem but teach the nearly blind how to use magnifying glasses, special lights etc. I feel bad for the waste of her time down this rabbit hole. To make that referral seems beyond clueless to me. I called the surgeon who has retired from Texan Eye and successfully managed my glaucoma for many years. He is also a personal friend and listened to my story and said the problem seemed like "dry eye" syndrome. Indeed, I have had moderate eye irritation for a while now but never made the connection or thought to bring it up falsely dismissing the irritation as allergies. he told me there were other things to look into if that didn't pan out but I have already noticed improvement using the drops he suggested. To solve any sort of problem it is best that the problem be diagnosed as the first step. Two doctors other than Dr. Ekeh currently at Texan Eye have not been able to do so. My main eye care doctor currently is Dr. Zhu. I appreciate that he was up front that he had no idea what the problem was and at one point suggested a retina or maybe it was a pupillary specialist. Unfortunate that he ended up referring me to Dr. Ekeh instead. Dry eye syndrome seems not to be that uncommon and there are treatments for it beyond drops some of which are just an office visit. It seems unfortunate that I have to impose on a personal friendship to get any useful guidance in my quest for the best possible vision. I had five star experience with Texan Eye for many years due to an excellent and caring doctor. This latest does not deserve one star.

Most recently, when checking in for the procedure, the front desk staffer repeatedly insisted that my procedure involved a lense implant, ignoring my assertions that she was mi staken. She finally relented after realizing that she had confused me with another patient. On another occasion, I was given a post-procedure follow-up appointment with the wrong physician. On balance, I believe that Texan Eye provides an acceptable level of care, but missteps by the administrative staff that I've encountered detract from my overall positive assessment.

I have gone to Texan Eye for several decades. They have excellent doctors and equipment. So why do…read morerate them with 1 star? The 1 star is because of inefficient desk staff cojoined with a policy of badgering patients with a flurry of appointment reminders by text and phone and email. Recently I called to ask for an appointment. After working my way through the automated system and being on hold for 20 minutes, someone decided to help me but said I was a new patient because too much time had passed since my last visit over 2 years ago, so she transferred me to someone else who handles new patients. After another 20 minute hold, and re-verification of info on file yet again, she asked if I wished to receive reminders about the appointment she just set up. I said no. Then 30 minutes later I got a few text reminders, followed by a few email reminders, followed by phone calls from 3 separate numbers, after I had responded 'stop' and then blocked all the above. Ever since COVID, all medical facilities want you to create a profile and fill in paperwork online. Anything more than that, and you are considered an inconvenience. They don't want to be hassled with paperwork or even talking to you. That, and the annoyance that somehow it is considered an acceptable business practice to pester you with multiple reminders, even after you have responded 'yes' and indicate you will arrive, hoping that the messages will stop. But they don't. For those workers who opt in for this lower level care, it's called benevolent indifference, or 'quiet quitting'. they respond to you with the attitude that their time is too important for mundane matters such as talking with you. If you don't comply and make it as easy as possible, then you're a problem. If I created a patient profile on each different site related to all my medical matters, I would have to keep track of countless passwords and verifications. This makes it simpler for them with complete disregard for any inconvenience to me. I guess I'm too old and remember a different time when patients were treated with respect and cared for. It's a hard adjustment to realize that my time and respectful use of my contact info is completely unimportant and meaningless. It's sad really, to find a business that now opts to this lower standard of care. If you're with Texan Eye, please don't respond with a boiler plate message about how important patients are and how hard you work to take care of them. I'm not buying it, and I don't anyone else does either. But thank you for the knowledgeable doctors who do care about their work. It's the only reason I come back.

First, it took almost four months to get in with a PCP (which isn't necessarily ARC's fault, but they're part of the problem). When I finally got in, FNP Hemmen at ARC Far West was rude, argumentative, says one thing at one visit and denies ever saying it on the second visit (should not have gone back for a second visit, but definitely won't be back for a third), refers you out for literally everything (including all the things my other PCPs have done at my visits with them), and is not afraid to let you know that she does NOT have time for your concerns at her visit, even when there's an empty lobby. The bedside manner was that of a hungry grizzly bear with a thorn in each paw. I will give kudos to the nurse or MA that rooms you and gets your vitals. She was kind both times, even when having to deal with that horrendous provider all day. I can find friendlier, more thorough care elsewhere and will NOT be going back. What a terrible experience -- both times.
