Big shout out to Dr Salinas, Just wanted to say how well he did with me. He had to give me some tough news but he did it really well, didn't try to minimize it just gave the facts to us in a very caring way. Thanks for your Dr Salinas Hope to SEE you again. Cheers read more

.I would like to formally express my concern about how I was treated during my appointment today. When I arrived, I was told that I was 15 minutes late and that they were not sure they would be able to see me. I was surprised and embarrassed by the way this was communicated, especially because I had arrived at the location and was prepared for my appointment. I then waited for over an hour while several patients who arrived after me were seen before me, including someone who did not originally have an appointment. I ultimately had to leave without being seen. I am Latina, and the way I was treated made me feel humiliated and discriminated against. I hope you will look into what happened and provide an explanation, because I do not believe I was treated fairly. read more

I like the doctors at Texan Eye but the Optical department is 100% non-responsive and impossible to contact. I have left over 8 messages on 2 different occasions (one regarding new lenses for my glasses and one regarding my contact lens prepaid order). When I let them know that I had left several messages, they casually responded, "Oh, yeah. We've been having problems with our phone." What does this mean? Do they not have a working phone? Do they not listen to their messages? I would recommend the doctors but NOT the Optical Dept. read more

This review is about the business' scheduling, contact lens department, and overall coordination, not the doctors. I have consistently had pleasant experiences with the physicians here. I left a message with the contact lens department on 12/30 and never received a call back. This was especially frustrating because I was trying to use my end of year insurance benefits and was unable to do so due to the lack of follow up. On 1/6, after multiple unanswered calls to the Balcones location, I drove there in person. When I arrived at the contacts area, two employees were sitting there with no patients, despite no one answering the phones. I was assisted, but the interaction was poorly communicated, with little explanation during the ordering process. The issues continued after that visit. 12 months of my contact lenses were shipped to a previous address, which was never verified on my 1/6 visit. A few days later, another package was delivered to that same address containing only six months of contacts, even though I ordered and paid assuming twelve months. Because calls continue to go unanswered despite trying multiple locations and phone numbers and even being disconnected by the automated system, I now have to take time out of my workday to resolve this in person. Overall, the lack of communication, attention to detail, and basic coordination has been extremely frustrating and disappointing and is making me highly consider switching eye doctors. read more

Not only have I had a good experience here, but so have my elderly acquaintances. We all agree that the people at registration are kind and friendly. The doctors listen and treat our problems the right way the first time. Dr. Nieman helped me when I had some serious concerns about an eye. She diagnosed the problem during that initial visit, and I left with a prescription that healed the problem. This is definitely our go-to eye care location! read more

ZERO respect for anyone's time. This practice has many patients who require someone to drive them. The waiting room in the surgery center has no food or drinks and is uncomfortably cold. That was four hours for an appointment that should have taken less than two. The clinic waiting room has nothing except water and paper cups. A follow-up appointment took 2.5 hours when it should have taken less than one. It's also very cold, and there is nothing to sit on outside if you are freezing or need to make a private phone call. I am fully aware that issues can cause delays, but there's no excuse for the duration, except a stuffed schedule that makes more money for the practice. At least have some decent coffee and a vending machine for people who have to wait (and wait). I'm not a patient - I'm someone's ride. I'll need this service someday, and it definitely will not be here. read more

poor service. poor comm and extremely bad in person experience Very disappointing as this used to be a top notch shop. I left At least 8 messages with NO return calls. In person the attendant said she had personal problems.... The entire 3 week experience has been entirely a waste of time, effort and frustration. read more

Scheduling is difficult. Twice I've had appointments where i waited for over an hour to be seen. Essentially it's a factory.

I've been going there for 7 years but today was my last. It's turned into a kiosk center. Spent less than 4 mins with the Dr total! I told her it felt like a factory and she said "yeah, I know, sorry". read more

I usually do not leave reviews but this experience took the cake. Getting an eye exam twice wrong is an "achievement", switching the axis and cylinder twice. 'Nuff said. The doc at Warby Parker discreetly noted "yeah, we get a l quite a few of those." (Note also the outdated equipment at Texan Eye; learned there is no longer a need to dilate your eyes with yellow goo to measure eye pressure, among other). In short: do not patronize this practice. read more

Providers seem fine, but the billing department needs work. I've been billed twice for my standard insurance copay, which I paid in person at the time of my office visit, and calling to investigate leads (apparently) to an outside, third-party billing service that can acknowledge the issue but has to refer the matter back to the internal billing department, all leading to an absolute waste of time on everyone's part. I'd think it was a one-off, but the exact same thing happened to my spouse at an appointment last year. As a new patient, I'm not encouraged. read more

I have been coming to Texan Eye for several years and I have never had a bad experience. The front desk staff, very helpful and friendly. Dr. Lane is always great! Thanks again Texan Eye for a great visit. read more

The doctor I saw was terse, rude, brief, barely said 10 words to me, and was out the door within minutes of seeing me. Even that can be excused, however, compared to the fact that it has taken a week to fill my prescriptions - and counting. To make matters worse, they even got my prescriptions wrong. I've called every day since placing the request to check on the prescription status, and I'm still waiting on the prescriptions that will allow me to hang onto my vision. If your visual health is important to you, find a different clinic. Edit: A few days after this review posted here, Dr Oriaifo cancelled my appointment that I had waited three months for (no exaggeration) without providing a reason. That felt to me like it was punitive and intentional. If this wasn't about the only place in town that took my insurance, I'd go elsewhere in a heartbeat. read more

If you would like your appointments to start on time, then Texan Eye is NOT for you. If you would like to be treated with kindness and caring, then Texan Eye is NOT for you. Absolutely irresponsible service. Daughter misdiagnosed with AK, and received improper care leading to irreversible damage to her 18 year old eye. I wrote several critical reviews of this office after having 3 visits out of a total of four go badly. The main criticisms I had were 1) having to wait more than an hour to be seen, 2) being ENTIRELY and TOTALLY ignored while I waited, and 3) having the techs who collected me from the waiting room and did preliminary work fail to treat me in a friendly courteous way. However, I recently went back for my fifth visit. I was particularly pleased that the tech who came for me in the waiting room (her name was V) made eye contact with me when she asked how I was and waited to hear my answer before she turned around to lead me to the exam room. It was almost as if someone in charge of the office did some training based on my earlier complaints. I certainly hope so. Offices like these depend on their patients for their existence! It behooves them to show us they appreciate our being there! For the techs to act as if we were just robots with no feelings, and for visit after visit after visit to involve hour-long waits during which no one does us the courtesy of an apology or offers some water, means we are nothing to that office but some numbers with either insurance or plastic to pay their boils. Since I had written critically of this particular office; I wanted to let people know that it seems to me someone has paid attention and is working to change things. By the way, I did have to wait 3/4 of an hour to see the doctor for ten minutes. But I was treated very courteously--quite differently from my previous visits--and the new glasses I got from that visit are AMAZING! So my whole feeling about this business has done a 180! read more

Surgery was very successful. The follow up after each surgery was very hurried. The OD in charge of the follow up was in an extreme rush to be on his way. He would not let me finish either of the two question/statements. He lacked a bedside manner. That being said, I would return to Texan Eye Center again. read more

I've been coming here for years and have always had a really good experience! The staff and Doctors are all very professional and caring. I can personally recommend Dr. Lane and Dr. Sanchez as they have been taking care of my vision for the longest time and have my complete trust! DISCLAIMER:. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT!!! We had a pair of glasses that fit perfectly fine when we tried them on and once the lenses got put in them, due to the lens reshaping the frames, they did not fit correctly anymore. We were unable to return them even though it was not our fault and then we were treated VERY poorly. This of course was all after the transaction was finished and we had already paid in full. August 1st, 2014. * I returned to them today to get lenses replaced and the supervisor confronts me while nearly yelling at me insisting that I take my review down because she says so. No apology, no logical reasoning or civil way of conversing ... just "YOU NEED TO TAKE THAT REVIEW DOWN NOW" read more

I went to Texan Eye for a routine eye check up. I specifically stated that I do not want Refraction test right at check in. They did that anyway ( I did not know what it was until later) and charged me $45! When I protested, the office clerk asked me whether I wanted the prescription or not I I had to pay. When I checked the new prescription with an optician, he tested my eyesight with present glasses and also with the new prescription. We found that the present glasses were actually better! The Texan Eye doctor never tested me with my present glasses. They started from scratch with their own refraction test. I think this is wrong. They should first check my eyesight with present glasses and see whether I need new prescription compared to the old one that they gave me two years back to see if I need a new one. Second, I developed a severe eye allergy after that visit. I called them the next day. It was not until the fourth day that I got an appointment. By that time my symptoms had gone down. The doctor told me that there was a scratch from my first visit ! They charged me a copay any way. Third, When I requested a detailed charge breakdown for my first visit, the office clerk could not provide it! She did not even try to help me . I had to leave a phone request to some other office, twice, to get it! Would like to give this zero star but that is not an option! read more

It is 11:50 am and the appointment was at 10:25 am. We were not told when we checked in the the doctor was behind schedule. All of the reviews I see are the doctors running behind schedule. The expectation is that the patients are on time, the same should be said for the doctors. How about a system to contact the patients by phone or text to let them know what is going on and have them come later? The front desk staff was very nice. This is for the owners, please do something to improve the customer experience. Invest some money in this because your NPS (Net Promoter Score) is not worth rating. read more

The reviews for texan eye are all spot on. Mismanaged and poor service is the hallmark of this firm. While I believe the doctors are competent, customer service is horrible. You may show up to find your appointment is scheduled at a completely different location. Be absolutely sure to ask the Cost for each and every process and procedure as you may be shocked when you receive the bill. Morale is low and several doctors have left. Avoid At all costs read more

I have been going to Texas Eye for almost 30 years, and I cannot fathom all the negative reviews. I first contacted them after my husband suffered a brain aneurysm that damaged his optic nerve. I explained this when I called, and we were immediately scheduled to see their senior ophthalmologist & surgeon. He was brusque, but totally focused on my husband. To me, competence and concern trump "bed -side manner" any day. _____ There are complaints about lengthy waiting times of up to 2 hours. These may have been caused by special circumstances, such as unanticipated staffing shortages or patient conditions requiring immediate attention, causing an appointment to run over its allotted time. I've rarely waited more than 5-10 minutes past my scheduled appointment time, if at all. Today, I had barely started a text before I was called. I had had surgery for a fractured eye socket & was experiencing some disturbing visual effects. Dr Derham did test after test looking for damage to my eye, before telling me, to my relief, she found none. _____ Another complaint was from someone not wanting to pay for an eye refraction. Refraction is necessary for an accurate prescription, and it can identify serious medical problems with your eyes. _____To be fair, note the location you visited. One of the negative reviews was from San Francisco, another from Beaumont. My visit today was at the Austin Balcones office, and my first visit with my husband was on MOPAC. All have been equally positive. read more

Please read carefully because if I can give 0 stars, I would. I came to this office May 20th 2016. I saw Dr. Walters for a medical condition - Graves because this is what he specializes in. With Graves, you can have Thyroid eye which can cause many eye related issues. Dr. Walters' assistant did a thorough exam of my eyes - none of which was a MRI, I can't even tell you all the exams that were done on me. After all the exams, I waited for Dr. Walters for over 30 minutes. He walks in, takes a look and says: Walters: "you might have Glaucoma. Did we do a Glaucoma exam on you?" Me: "which one is that?" I determined it was not done. So he sends me back out with his assistant to get that exam done. I come back in, Walters: "no Glaucoma but you have swelling of your eye muscles which causes the bulge." Me: "okay. Is there anything I can do or take for it?" Walters: "i don't know, I don't treat systemic issues." Me: "No, I mean for the swelling of the eye muscles." Walters: "Yeah, I don't do that either." Me: "okay, should I come back for a routine check up and when?" Watlers: "One year from now." Me: "..........." I check out and the receptionist said she ran my insurance and I owe about a whopping $150. Thank you very much for nothing. I will DEFINITELY NOT come back. Don't waste your time or money. In short, yes, he did a bunch of exams to probably squeeze as much money out of me as possible. I have since gone to another Ophthalmologist and he said "how did he know you have swelling in the eye muscles without an MRI?" Beats the heck out of me. read more

Disappointed. Saw Dr. Lane today for a general eye checkup. Thought he was an opthamologist but he's an optometrist. My mistake. Opthamologist is a medical doctor, which is what i wanted. His assistant was friendly and likable. He was detached and didn't seem interested at all. They did several tests but i got zero feedback on them. What did the retina pictures show? How about the glacoma test? No news is good news? Not in my book! He gave me a diagnosis of an eye condition and gave me no info on it until I questioned him. Getting info from him about it was very difficult and i got very little info at that. The whole appt felt rushed as well. I called my opthamologist (different kind of eye doctor) afterwards to see if i could get more info on my condition and they gave me a little more information and told me not to worry - no big deal, they said. Dr. Lane offered no such reassurance. Gee, I'm sorry if your job isn't fun or rewarding but you're in the people business - talk to your patients, communicate with them, answer their questions, take your time. I cannot recommend Dr. Lang. read more

Look like the other reviews mentioning a factory with lack of care are correct....appointment at the Balcones location with Dr. Ashenbeck. Arrived 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. Taken to room with assistant for intake and prep. Then waited, and waited, and waited. Was moved three times from room, to waiting area, to room, and at the 1hour mark...walked out. Most patients being asked to wait as rooms or doctors not available. Don't know who handles logistics and scheduling, but the staff seemed irritated when asked what the hold-up was and not one apology. If they can't organize staff and appointments, no idea how they could possible provide quality care. Really, never seen anything this poorly managed. Dr. Jennifer K Lynne read more

BEWARE. I scheduled a routine eye exam that is covered every 2years. Got a call this morning from TxEye saying charges would go toward deductible. Ask them to call and confirm with BCBS and gave them the ph #. Called back saying it was not a working number. Called it myself and confirmed coverage for every 24 months. Also found out I paid for my last routine with TxEye in Sept 2018 because it was charged as a macular degeneration and cateract exam. I told them specifically I wanted a routine eye exam in 2018. Shame on me for not calling BCBS in 2018 to fight charges. $268 out of my pocket. read more

As a new patient I arrived 30 min early, for new patient paper work, completed it & waited until I was called. 20 min after my appt time I was finally called to the back. Met with the helpful nurses (which were awesome & super friendly.) But then I am waiting 45 more minutes for the doctor because they are behind sched. Of course once we met it was no more than a 10 minute consultation, which would have been great if everything was running on time. Disappointed, very much so. If you're having eye issues and/or need an oculoplastic surgeon, please look no further. From filler to more complex cases, Dr. Tanya Khan is your person. There's no shortage of fabulous Doctors in the area. Dr. Khan is without a doubt one of them. Her presence, honesty, bedside manner and a whole lot more--assist her in shining amongst the rest, with ease however. If her in herself is not enough (which it should be!), the "above and beyonds" of Dr. Khan will likely exceed expectations for any person lucky enough to call themselves a patient of hers. It's obvious she partakes in seminars and/or other continous education activities to further her education and knowledge in her area. She's up to date on cutting edge technology and details in her field. There's no doubt she plans on not being a great doctor, but to be the best--and I strongly feel that will happen. Additionally, I learned she's taken part in and even led valuable studies for her industry (aka us, the patient!) and has been featured in numerous publications. The front staff is always friendy. Charlie (?) is a sweet man, especially with the kiddos. Stephanie, the officer manager (I believe) is A-mazing!! Dr. Khan and Stephanie are two genuinely charismatic individuals, perfectly placed in their area of profession. Texan Eye should be honored to have them on their team. I highly recommend! read more

Staff was kind and courteous from time of check-in and seeing the doctor wait time was minimal

From the moment you walk into Texan Eye, the office is clean and the staff is very professional. Dr. Khan and her staff provide customer service that is out of this world. She takes time to ask questions about your needs and really understand what you're looking for. Even more importantly why so that she can be sure to address your needs without any gaps. When I went in for botox (first timer -woo!) last October (2017), I immediately felt comfortable and relaxed. The procedure itself was very gentle - it didn't hurt at all! Dr. Khan provides a wealth of knowledge, answers questions, and also makes an sincere effort to have a relationship with her patients as well. I believe that a doctor who has the ability to build and maintain relationships with their patients on a personal level is what differentiates them in the profession from good to great - Dr. Khan is the epitome of just that :). Because of the great experience I had getting botox in October 2017, I went back to Dr. Khan 7 months later (at the end of May 2018) for lip injections (juvederm), and let me tell you that is one of the best decisions I've made in a long time!! I had pretty average-sized lips before getting injections, so I was only looking for a little extra plump. They look AMAZING - I get so many compliments on them, and I give out Dr. Khan's business page or instagram page at least 1-2x a week. In both of my experiences working with Dr. Khan for facial enhancements, the results far exceeded my expectations. I am SO HAPPY with the results and can't recommend her enough!!! She even let me keep the juvederm box as a little souvenir ;-) (see pictures) read more

Texan Eye - Balcones - Front desk was great. The assistant basically did my exam. He was great. The doctor, Dr. Sargent was abrupt. Took a 2 minute look at my eyes, said everything looked okay. So you can wear progressives if you want too or go the pharmacy and buy readers! She walked out the door and that was it. I had to ask at the front desk what the prescription meant. If I wanted only prescription reading glasses what was my prescription, they were not very clear at all. Doctor said readers for reading 2.5 or 2.75 but wrote on the prescription 2.25. They don't care about you at all, like a factory. I walked out to the car and just sat there not believing how I was treated. NEVER going back to this place! read more
