Purchased many vehicles from Tom Gill and never really had issue until now. We purchased a new 2025 Chevy Equinox and the digital rear view mirror was perfect at night. Now the when using the mirror, the headlights seen in the mirror are nothing but starburst and balls of light. I can barely make out what's being me. Took it on for service but was told there was nothing wrong with the mirror and they are refusing to fix it. I provided pictures to them to show exactly the issue. I have purchased vehicles from Tom Gill for the last 10 years, and I have utilized their "free" lifetime oil changes. The service has gone downhill fast. I was in last week for an oil change and a couple days later my electrical systems start failing in my car. This was not happening before my oil change and there was no warning from the service department that this was going to occur. My wipers and hazard lights turn on when I use my turn signal, my air conditioning control panel does not work, and I have a service traction control light come on. These issues all occurred at the same time and I have not really driven my car since my oil change. I would like for Tom Gill to fix this issue free of charge since they caused the issue (as my electrical systems in my car were in good shape before my oil change). read more

First off let me start be saying I have been purchasing all my cars from Tom Gil Chevrolet for the last 7+ years. Up until now it has always been a pleasant experience. I just purchased a 2022 GMC Sierra 3 month's ago. Tried to get the vehicle titled in Indiana but the title was not signed off by the former lien holder. Gave the title back to the dealership and still have not received it back. Not only that but I have had multiple issues with the vehicle since I purchased it. Lane assist camera not working and now my brakes are acting up. I have had the vehicle for 3 months with no title. When I called the title department a lady named Lacey was very rude and nasty to me. In January my wife and I bought a 2016 Ford F-150 sold under the terms of perfect condition, nothing wrong with it, went through a 170+ point inspection, they also replaced the oil pan because there previously was a leak. As soon as I drove it off the lot I called back immediately, due to a grinding noise, a rattling noise and multiple tire pressure sensors not working. They advised me to bring it in the next day, the next day I was told they didn't look at the noises and would look when the sensors came in, I took it back a few days later to get the sensors replaced and was told the grinding noise came from a "loose heat shield" and that they didn't hear any rattling noise, I left and immediately turned around because the truck started to rattle again. Austin, the service tech, schedule another appointment and said he will have to send the truck to a Ford dealership for diagnostics. Well, the third time taking it in within 3 weeks they had the truck for over a week and didn't send to Ford dealership like they had previously said- insisting on it not making any noise, claiming nothing was wrong with it. Finally, I got a second opinion the day after I got the truck back the third time but the mechanic couldn't look at it because he immediately noticed an oil leak. Coming from the oil pan they said they replaced, he told me to take it back to dealership to fix, I went back for a fourth time and they told me it was not coming from the oil pan- it was coming from the timing cover and that I would need to pay Tom Gill Chevrolet $4,000 to have it resealed. I took it back to the mechanic that found the leak and he verified that they used a cheap, aftermarket doorman style oil pan and used an RVC seal to put it on when under Ford Guidelines it should be put on with a head gasket. Tom Gill employees failed to even tell me of an oil leak that was pictured with their UVeye machine from day one. The owner- Tom Gill- perjured himself by claiming, via email, there was no oil leak seen on any inspections before I directly asked for the UVeye photos taken under the truck where the oil leak is clearly shown. After getting the right oil pan put on by the mechanic who diagnosed the leak, they told me to get a refund I must sign a Release of liability of any present or future issues, saying I can't speak on the matter to anyone, no reviews, no social media posts on any and all issues with Tom Gill, I told them I wasn't going to sign, and to rewrite it to be involved in this one issue. They mailed the check to my house but Dale, the service manager, failed to rewrite and send over the correct NDA which is good because as of now I found out that the rattling noise that I reported on day one is from a bad Torque converter, diagnosed by a Ford dealer. I have given Tom Gill the opportunity to resolve this issue but he doesn't seem interested in this, and definitely doesn't want to stand by his products, so now we are going to have to pay $4,000 out of pocket for an issue they knew the truck had before selling it. They have tried to cover up issues using aftermarket, unauthorized parts to fix their products and by trying to make me pay $4,000 to repair a timing cover that wasn't broken. I bought a new truck in 2023 with the "free oil change" promotion. I have had nothing but problems with the service department since then. Each time I bring the truck in for an oil change with an appointment there is some reason why they can't get to it. Twice I had to leave without the truck being serviced even though while I'm waiting I get text messages saying "We are working on your vehicle". The last time (after a 2 hour wait and my truck not being serviced)I told them I would not be back. I wish I had never heard of Tom Gill Chevrolet. read more

Updated 10/18/2023: Picture is what the clutch looked like when it was removed to be replaced. The damage to this clutch is extensive and the worse that several of my mechanic associates have seen. The 3,000 miles that I drove would not have caused this much damage. So this just shows that there was already an issue prior. Purchased a car less then 3 months ago to not only have the clutch go out, but the engine develop a tick 2,500 miles in. I do not recommend purchasing a used car from them. I've bought better used cars from J.D Byrider and that is saying something. read more

I'm deeply disappointed with my recent experience at Tom Gill Chevrolet. My grandmother visited this dealership with the hope of purchasing a new car, but unfortunately, she felt taken advantage of. The sales team seemed to exploit her lack of familiarity with car buying, pushing her towards decisions that weren't in her best interest. We were particularly concerned about high-pressure sales tactics, misleading information and the sales person being extremely rude. It's disheartening to see such practices, especially when dealing with someone as vulnerable as my grandmother. Christian Scothorn was our sales rep and he had zero clue what he was doing and harassed my 75 year old grandma non stop to come and buy the car when he knew we were waiting on the GM friends and family code. I hope this review serves as a warning to others and encourages the dealership to improve its approach to customer service. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and honesty, regardless of their age or experience. We will never do business with Tom Gill. read more

They put my safety at risk in a dangerous vehicle not once but twice then closed the deal and made me feel as if I had done something wrong. I was trying to purchase a Jeep Wrangler. Once I got it on the interstate & hit a bump at 70mph, it got the death wobble. I returned the vehicle and they sent it to service who I caught in 3 lies. They put me back in the vehicle, not fixed accordingly, and it did the same thing. While waiting on the vehicle to be fixed appropriately, they pushed & pushed for me to sign and get my co-signer to sign paperwork. They basically gave me a deadline but the Jeep wasn't fixed. Then they suddenly closed the deal and treated me as if I had done something wrong. The salesman talked to me like I was a piece of garbage. He basically showed his true colors. It worked out for the best but I could have done without the harassment from the sales team. It was an unsafe vehicle. Service department was horrible and lied about several things, even trying to charge me for the repairs. Poor communication between sales and service. read more

I bought a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro. It's had multiple issues. Shortly after being bought. I feel like I've been and out of there for past year it's on its third engine now and they're saying it's leaking oil because of cold air intake and it also has low compression so they're refusing to work on it now I have audio proof saying that they're working with a faulty company, which is what Engine they had placed in my car so instead of taking ownership of that they're putting the fall on the aftermarket Air intake which I have read up on and it Does not cause absolutely any problem with what they're saying I have asked multiple mechanics and even a sales person from there if they've ever heard of a cold air intake and causing these issues and everyone has said no. My daughter was sold a 2018 Toyota Camry from Tom Gill on Saturday, 2/8/2025 at 11:30am and by Sunday, 2/9/2025 she was already having trouble with the vehicle. She purchased a CarFax report which provided evidence that the information Tom Gill supplied was incomplete and missing maintenance history related to the issue. On Monday, 02/10/2025 at 5:30pm we went to Tom Gill to return the vehicle, and they refused to take the car back! They state there is no problem with the vehicle, that the issue observed is just a "characteristic of the car", and that the 48-hour timeframe had passed. Tom Gill Advertises the following: "48-Hour Money Back Guarantee - If your purchase isn't right for you, simply return the vehicle in two days and within 200 miles." "And remember, you can buy with peace of mind with our 2-day money back guarantee on your purchase." In the United States, there is no law that requires businesses to offer money-back guarantees, but if companies advertise one, they must fully honor it and clearly disclose all conditions for receiving a refund. Tom Gill is closed for business on Sunday, they do not provide off-hours contact information nor does the advertisement clearly indicate that Sundays and Holidays are included in the 48-hours. After requesting the specific terms and conditions for not receiving a refund their response is that it's "self-explanatory". In the U.S. most companies exclude Sundays and Holidays from the 48-hour window except for those with 24/7 customer service. So, stating this is "self-explanatory" is unacceptable especially when it comes to legal or customer facing terms. I believe Tom Gill has failed miserably to provide clear, understandable, and truthful information and I am hopeful the KY Attorney General feels the same. I also hope this information saves others from their unfair, misleading, and deceptive acts or at least deters people from buying cars from Tom Gill on Fridays, Saturdays, or during holiday weekends! read more

There was a truck on their lot that I called about on 3/26. The sales representative was advised that I wanted the truck all that I was waiting on was for the rep to get back with me with the out the door price. My financing was ready to go. I just needed the out the door price. The sales representative advised that they could have it to me the following morning 3/27 at 11:00am. I waited patiently for 11:00am on 3/27. I received a call asking if I could put a down payment on the truck due to them receiving a call from another potential buyer that was driving 3hrs away to test drive the truck. I didn't understand how that could be being I had already said that I wanted the truck and just needed the out the door price to complete the deal. Needless to say when I called to give the down payment I was advised that the other potential buyer was on the lot and the truck was sold from under me. Now how fair was that to me being I reached out about the truck the day before and advised that I wanted the truck. I was just awaiting on the out the door price that they weren't able to give me at that time. read more

Bought a car from Tom Gill with the extended warranty. They have had my car for six weeks. The Service Manager, is dodging my calls. I still am no closer to an answer as to when my car will be finished or what they are going to fix, either a new engine or parts damage. I would not recommend this dealership for anything. When I bought the car with the extended warranty they made it seem like everything is covered with no problem. Do not trust this dealership. I was sold a 2018 Toyota Camry on Saturday 2/8/2025 at 11:30am, Tom Gill stated that the car had zero issues. On Sunday 2/9/2025 I heard the transmission whining when accelerating so I purchased a CarFax report and found records that this noise was diagnosed in Sept. 2024. This information was withheld on Tom Gills report. I called and spoke with the shop that was listed on the CarFax report and was told the previous owner was quoted $7,600.00 in transmission repairs. Tom Gill advertises a 48 hour money back guarantee so on Monday 02/10/2025 at 5:30 I went to return the car. They refused to take the car back because the 48 hour timeframe had passed. Tom Gill is closed for business on Sunday so I had no means to get a hold of them. The 48 hour window should be calculated based on their business hours and not to do so is a deceptive practice. Tom Gill not only failed to disclose important major mechanical issues they went back on their guarantee! read more

Now..the car has to be returned. An "apology" from a random service writer DOES NOT CUT IT. This is an OUTRAGE and WILL be reported to the BBB. I have purchased a truck with Tom Gill previously and after several years of witnessing their sub par services, I am officially done supporting such a disappointment in our community. I don't give one star reviews online lightly. I bought a Chevy Cruze from here in 2015. When I bought the car I was promised a lifetime powertrain warranty. In April, I started having some engine troubles that I now realize are common in this car and should be covered by this warranty. When I brought my car in in April, I was told that I had no issue, and they simply changed the spark plugs as well as finding $1,000 of other work to do on my car. Textbook dealer scam if you ask me. Now, 6 months later my car is in much worse condition and the original problem has escalated. I tried setting up another appointment with them to see if this issue would be covered under like the powertrain warranty like I suspected should be, but was told over the phone that they cannot find my original purchase or record of me bringing the car in in April. Other people's experiences may vary, but I have felt taken advantage of, and they have been unable to fix what I think is a fairly simple problem on my car. I strongly advise you go elsewhere to purchase and service your Chevrolet. I was told my 2016 Chev Equinox needed a new muffler and would cost over $1800 on top of $150 diagnostic fee! My service advisor Elizabeth is NEVER at her desk and does not return calls and they had my car all day. Stay AWAY! The next day I took my car to Ryan's Muffler and they repaired the hole in exhaust pipe for less than $200 and said the muffler was fine! My car is running great now. read more

STAY AWAY! Do not bring your car here even if your insurance insists! Car came back with numerous damages to the interior that were never there such as scratches, leather damage, chunks of rubber missing from the door handle. Not to mention I also found a LYFT (Uber competitor) window sticker in my passenger side door compartment and it was used as well so that also raises concerns a that these people not only damage your car more but also might be using your car for UBER/LYFT. They also mentioned that there was a rusted hole in my exhaust and suggested replacement of the entire exhaust however after bringing it to a real truthful muffler shop they found that it was just a valve spinning around so they spot welded it for free. Do NOT buy used cars from Tom Gill! The company that has their owner with a dog on tv claiming "they're all about the customers" which is completely false and dishonest. We paid cash for a used car for our teenager. At first they ran it though their shop but stopped before they put new brakes on it stating "we are tapped out" with fixing anything else. They ended up putting brakes on after talking with management. Within 3 days of owning it, engine light came on. We took it back and they claimed it was dust on a coil. After we got it back, within 4 more days the light came on again. This time they kept it for 11 days, claiming they had no clue what was wrong, but then said it would be $1600 for a converter. We talked to service people and management who refused to do anything even though when we bought it all issues were supposedly fixed And they are not honoring that part of the contract. The company who supposedly is worried about their customers are more worried about money and putting our child's safety in jeopard, would NOT recommend!! read more

They then took the liberty to update the KBB info on my car to reflect "major rust or dent on quarter panel" - also false. The salesman had the audacity to tell me something along the lines of "the updated KBB info killed your offer..." after entering information that was grossly inaccurate. I took my vehicle over to Tom Gill for its 3000 service. Oil change , tire rotation and everything. I only use it to go to work, but two weeks later my family and I took it for a short vacation. About an hour and a half later it starts to vibrate and gets worse. So I pull over and my cousin suggest I check the lug nuts. And sure enough the driver side was a little lose but the passenger side, one was got and the others I could tighten with my fingers. I call Tom Gill left message for Dale Boreing. He calls next day and sounds sincere about what happened and sorry. Starts to say he wants to send me something and will bring it up in their weekly staff meeting. Was contacted by Bobby numerous times in regards to my truck ad in auto trader. Explained up front and picture was posted of a scratch on the truck. He said it was not a problem and offered me $37,000 which increased to $37,250 to entice me to sell to them. When I arrived at the dealership after driving 79 miles to close the deal, their offer was around $3,000 less than agreed price. I feel I was LIED to and scammed to get me to the dealership where I felt taken advantage of. I spoke with his manager and was offered a tank of gas! Bought a used 2015 Chevrolet Traverse from Tom Gill Florence two months ago. Everything was great until it wasn't. I know it's buyer remorse and I admit I have a part in this because I did not do due diligence at purchase. The purchase experience was great. I even got the extended warranty but the nightmares happened after I took it off the lot. Brake pedal squeezed as if it was rubbing against the firewall frame. Did not notice this on the test drive. After it rained, I noticed that there was black staining on the hood by the wiper blades. I investigated and found that the wiper blade when in operation was rubbing against the hood of the car and had been for some time as it had grinded a grove in the hood metal. Then the power steering went out. I took it back to the dealership, and luckily it was covered under the warranty I had minus the $200 deductible. At that time I also informed the service department and the salesperson who sold me the vehicle about the brake and wiper and hood issues. I was assured they would be looked at. They were not. At this time I was also informed that there was a crack in the timing pulley or cover that caused me to loose oil and that was not covered by the warranty and would cost me an additional $1,875. I chose not to do this at that time as I was so mad that these things were not noticed at the so-called "pre-sale vehicle multi point inspection" that Tom Gill touts. I had left a good review on the day of purchase as suggested, but now amended that review as I have had no relief with follow up phone calls for help since I haven't even had the vehicle for eight weeks. I have asked other mechanics for advice and they put the price to repair all of the defects at a few thousand dollars, which I do not have at the moment as I am on social security retirement. I just got off the phone with a mechanic and I was so mad, I had to amend the review. I'm driving right now and adding oil as needed until I can figure things out. Bottom line.....pre-sale inspections are not up to par. Leaking oil should have been noticed. The damage to the hood should have been noticed when detailing the car for sale. The warranty sucks. Follow up on issues reported sucks. I took the Tom Gill plate cover off the car and will not even be going back for the free oil changes and car washes. I would not recommend trying to buy a car here AT ALL! I originally seen a Jeep online a few months ago and went in to look at it, they would not even let me LOOK at the vehicle to see if I even liked it as I've never had a jeep/seen one, didn't ask to drive just look since the pictures weren't the best. Made us go through the process of credit checks, pay roll etc without any mention of wanting to buy. We get to a trade in and we put down a 2016 Ford Focus that we drove there, after their "trained mechanics" looked at this vehicle they would only offer $500 since it had a "rod knock" and would "blow up at any minute" words from the sales woman herself. Turns out my focus does not in fact have a rod knock and only needed fuel injectors. They most definitely tried to rip off two young people especially someone who is trained in mechanics and knew damn well there was no rod knocking whatsoever. When I got in my wrecks they were incredibly responsive and really went the extra mile to make sure everything was taken care of and repaired to the highest standard. When I traded my vehicle in, not only did they give me the best price for my vehicle, but made the process absolutely seamless and even arranged me a ride home.
