Tom Ford has high end clothing and accessories. I love to visit this location on Madison Avenue. He also sells fragrances that are great to sample. I'm very fortunate to have a friend/family Yelper that sent me a small bottle of perfume. Coincidentally it was in my mailbox on Mother's Day. I wish Yelp had smell a vision. Came here to look at handbags and perfumes and the place was mostly empty. They mostly left me to my own devices, which was nice, but when I asked for samples of the perfumes I was told they didn't have sample vials which I think is kind of a requirement when you sell perfume. read more

I've been here several times since. Some of the staff may appear to be rude if they think you're tire-kicking, but I don't think any of them have a bad bone in their body. The new location is very posh, still feels brand new, but doesn't have that nice exterior like the last one. I can't comment on their size availability or selection because I haven't come in for clothing in a while, but their optical/sunglass lines + fragrance lines are everything you'd expect from TF. Same goes for the shoes and other accessories. I spent about 10 minutes trying on TF's new blue block line of glasses and was out the door with a pair that I loved. No wait or hassle or issue. The Madison Ave store doesn't seem to be aligned with the value proposition of TF, which is surprising considering how close the store is to the head office. The sales staff are nice enough, but there's a few things I noted: - Not enough sizes in stock for items - Slightly condescending staff, while some are excellent - Not offering water or refreshments - They've got a greeter and a security guard at the front. Over two visits to the store, the greeter never said hello, and on one visit the guard opened the door for me, on the other he just stood there. Tom Ford is literally one of my favorite designers (he owns smooth fox terriers) - I am pretty much obsessed with his purses and perfume lines. My husband bought me the Flap Over Zip Bag in brown a few years back; I literally cried from pure happiness. I absolutely love the oversized hardware and the zippers, and the purse itself smells deliciously of leather from the calfskin that it's made up of; very roomy and spacious. Made in Italy, the bag is pure quality and definitely will last a lifetime! Also, I am obsessed with the Neroli Portofino Eau de Parfum - the scent is simply intoxicating with a combination of citrus oils, floral notes, and amber undertones. Absolutely divine! Probably the coolest store I have ever been to, they spared no expense in building this store. The clothes are expensive but what do you expect on Madison Avenue in the Upper East Side. The only drawback is unless you are extremely skinny you cant really buy anything off the rack, but the saving grace is that they offer custom clothing. read more

Very few knows stuff about suits but its one of them fashion knowledge, not the full canvas, construction... all that crap. If you are in doubt ask the in-house tailor. WTF The Jacket sleeves are originally suppose to have 5 button holes by the design so if you're gonna do alternation else where, just something to think about. I am not one of customers who just wonder into the store, buy a perfume and then leave. I have 7 Tom Ford suits including 1 MTM and 1MTO, 3 leather shoes and many other accessories. I crave for Tom Ford. They indeed make the best suit. However Buying suit at TF NY store is less exciting as comparing with joy of wearing them. It sucks. It makes me almost want to switch to bergdorff's TF department. I bought 4 suits from the TY store. The first three experiences were an disaster. Unlike my beloved LA store and LV store,the service was extremely disappointing. The store was almost packed and some staffs were simply standing around, playing their phones, and staring at customers. One of the staff MTOed a suit for me, which turned out to be the one different from the one I was looking for. Since it was already tailored, I cannot return it. The tailors there was not great AT ALL. I would not trust my suit with them. And for that I am talking about "Signior" Igor. For the 3 suits I bought from here, I have to re-tailored at other stores( LV TF, LA TF, Bergdorff). Signer Igor apprentaly don't know how to do pants and appropriately taper the waist. My recent experience with TF NY store is getting better. I can see the improvement, but I have to say it is still way below the standard set at the LA and LV. Staffs here are so meaninglessly presumptuous and busily mouseying around like a hoard of flies, otherwise, they will just stand still and mentally moseying around. When I say this is the consummate shopping experience - needless to say, I mean it. This boutique on Madison Avenue is basically for the man who has everything. In 2007, when I first saw the coverage that Fashion-Television did with Jeanne Beker, I was intrigued. She walks through the store with Tom Ford himself guiding her and her entourage of cameramen. Models Noah Mills/Wilhelmina, Frederico Moyano/Public Image, and Andrija/Wilhelmina show off the F/W 2007-08 men's collection : a line of plush fur coats, dandy-esque houndstooth three piece suits [at $5,000 price-points], and high-polished Italian made accessories. The venue itself looks like a traditional English haberdashery oozing with phallic art-work cut in steel and gold. Fashion-Television's Jeanne Beker cannot take the smile off her face. In fact: it's permanent. I made my way up Madison past Prada, Bvlgari, etc. I ring the doorbell of the Tom Ford door and am greeted by a butler who offers me a beverage and takes my coat. Swank, I think. Samuele, a Tom Ford sales rep who should have his own reality show, greets me and shows me the entire Spring-Summer 2009 collection - which looked to me like a throw-back of the silhouette and color palette Tom used for his Spring-Summer 2004 ready-to-wear collection at YSL rive gauche homme. I am taken into the perfume vault located at the back of the store where a gentleman, who looks like he should be in a Ralph Lauren Purple Label ad campaign, offers me different swatches and explains to me in sickeningly thorough detail the different bouquets involved in each 'self-manufactured' fragrance. As a self-confessed Neroli Portofino and Black Orchid fan, it was nice to sample the other Ford creations. Tom has gone all out with this one, I think to myself. Samuele brings me around the corner to an accessories counter where I am shown an ram-horn cigar cutter, portfolios and wallets in crocodile and alligator, and ostrich-lined travelers' bags. PETA would love access to this place -- I'm sure of it. The fur-trimmed elevator, the butler, the gorgeous door-woman, the mirror-encased custom-made suits...Tom really has outdone himself. My experience at the boutique was top-notch. The representatives are professional, engaging, and receptive to the high-fashion consumer. Just don't go expecting sweat-pants and a t-shirt where jeans have a price-point of $790. U.S. Weekly calls the man 'delusional.' I call Tom Ford....genius. After being impressed by Ford's recent offerings through the heavy media penetration he's been doing (ie. Skyfall and Suit & Tie), I decided to take a trip to Madison Ave. I suppose it's important to note that I decided before I went that I was going to buy--and not window shop. After reading several reviews (including NYT), I was prepared for the worst. It was said that the staff was rude and disingenuous, waiting for the minute those plebeians without an appointment walked out the door. It was, however, completely the opposite. Firstly, I am 26 years old, and went there dressed casually on a Saturday; wearing khakis, a button down and my dress overcoat (it's February!!). I was also with my fiancé who was similarly dressed. Although it never ceases to amaze me how retailers these days continue to judge books by their cover, I always note how I'm dressed compared to how I'm treated, as it is usually a good litmus test for the quality of the store. For example, I've gone into Tiffany's wearing sweats after the gym and after work in a tailored suit and have received the same treatment on both occasions. I was cheerfully greeted by a staff member when I walked in. After glancing at a case or two, I was asked if I needed any help, which I declined at the time. The salesman seamlessly dropped back into the background of the small room. As you can imagine they weren't busy, which can make a customer feel uncomfortable if the staff is TOO attentive. I studied the various items in the room, impressed with the quality of the suits and held a certain level of respect for the more "peacocking" offerings. After browsing, I started to pull out various pocket squares and ties in the glass drawers. A salesman had come back into the room and was arranging new suits, but again was not intimidating. After going back and forth with my fiancé on a few item, I asked the salesman for his advice. He eagerly asked me questions and selected a few items of varying patterns and colors. He offered his suggestions, and while I followed it on one, he was not "judgmental" when I went with my own instincts on another. In addition to the p. squares, had a couple of ties I had previously pulled and told him that would be all. He brought the items to the back, wrapped them, and sent me on my way with a smile and a handshake. While I was waiting to checkout, my fiancé perused the make-up and had a similarly pleasant experience with the girl there; purchasing a lipstick. In sum, I had a great experience at the store and was impressed by the staff. Monetarily, I walked out with two pocket squares and two ties for a shade under $800. While it is certainly on the expensive end of menswear, and I will not be outfitting my wardrobe in TF anytime soon, little indulgences can sometimes be worth it. read more
