This is for the store on 41st and Lex - Not included so far on the list of De Janeiro stores - So I added it to the list.
While the place has nice clothes, some reasonably priced, these are the reasons it was not a satisfying shopping experience:
1. The place smelled like a restaurant upon entry at lunchtime - strongly of garlic and onions - a cooking odor wafting up from the "Employees Only" downstairs area. That was somewhat offensive and not appropriate for a clothing store - since odors like that penetrate and linger within clothes - fyi.
2. The check out employee was rude. When asked if a particular items was final sale - she said all my purchases were final sale - although they none had red tags stating final sale as is mentioned on the receipt for "final sale: status.
When further asked if there was there was store credit for a return - She said, "Look - I told you these are final sale." Thus, in asking for a minor clarification, she became very negative and rude. There was no rush - no one else was waiting to make a purchase. When I said - "I am only asking a question," she became even MORE assertive - as if I had no right for the clarification. I think English might not have been her first language - so her insecurity made her misunderstand and become defensive for no other apparent reason.
Shopping should be an enjoyable experience - not one where a shopper spending money is treated without respect. read more
