Consignors beware. I…read moreconsigned two blazers with Gentlemen's Resale on May 26, 2026. Their written receipt states that sale information is updated on the 15th of each month for the prior month. Since then: No June update. No July update. No August update. Multiple emails have gone unanswered. Each time I have called, I have been told there is a growing "backlog." I visited the store and neither item was on the sales floor. I still have not been told whether my items were sold, what they sold for, or when I will be paid. On my latest call, this past Monday, I was again told that there was a significant backlog, that nothing further could be done at that point, and that my complaint would be passed along to accounts payable. When I asked whether the business was going under and at risk of defaulting on consignors, there was some hesitation followed by what I would characterize as a half-hearted denial. I obviously do not know Gentlemen's Resale's actual financial condition. But after more than three months without an accounting, payment, or meaningful response--and repeated references to a growing backlog--I am seriously concerned about what is happening with consignors' property and money. I am posting this publicly in the hope that Gentlemen's Resale will finally provide an immediate accounting of my two items and pay any proceeds that are due. I will update this review promptly if they resolve the matter. Update: they finally answered my emails. The jackets had been sold. I eventually received payment for them.

Yael has an amazing selection of affordable yet unique and chic apparel. It's a small but impactful boutique. When I go through the racks, it's usually a hard no, or a "I have to have this" reaction. That's because she seems to be able to choose clothes that you won't find elsewhere for less than $300-500 but each piece is perfect for a certain type of person. And so affordable - usually around $100-140 for a beautiful jumpsuit, dress, jacket, pair of great jeans, etc. That's why it's so dangerous to come here. The clothes are beautiful, unique and most pieces can go from office to an evening event easily. And many have pockets, which is a bonus. Come here and you'll see why it has close to 5 stars!

Had to take a full day out of my schedule (lost valuable freelance project time) to travel to this upscale shop and meet with the owner. Owner was quite busy, but gracious enough to give me her full attention while I presented my portfolio. We discussed ideas for their logo redesign and poster project. I gave a project quote and requested to be paid upon completion. Total mistake. The following day, I emailed her assistant 4 different concept sketches so that we may move forward (job ad claimed this was a job with a tight deadline and required several revisions). No answer. Several days later, I emailed asking for an update. No answer until about a week later. I get some pretentious 'we're having such a busy season, we cannot answer your email at the moment.' Ridiculous. It's been well over a month and I have never gotten a response back. I am a beginner at freelance work and have been struggling to land a full-time design-related position. I like to work with family owned companies, and this is the most unprofessional flaky experience so far. I don't recommend working with this company.

In a nutshell: Tending to my indecisiveness as a first-time…read moreconsigner - YES Pleasant experience answering my questions - SURE Letting me pay to get my bag back for the price on our contract - NOPE Making up excuses to not let me have my bag and trying to charge me more - MY ULTIMATE PROBLEM WITH THIS STORE I came to the store as a first-time consigner. Curious about the process, I asked a million questions to make sure that I understood all the loopholes associated with consigning. Heather and Gideon were great and patient with answering my questions and successfully convinced me to commit to selling my bag. I was visibly anxious but decided to go for it, having been told that I am able to pay a pulling fee of 10% the asking price of my bag, if for some reason I decide I wanted to keep it. Immediately when I got home, I regretted my decision and reached out to Gideon about paying the fee to get my bag back. He called me and tried to convince me to let them sell it, and bantered about how he had already added it to a list to sell at an event over the weekend and that I would have to pay more to make up for the costs were incurred for the update to the list. I looked over my BS of a "contract" which stipulated that I would be responsible for 10% (as he had also verbally stated.) When I called him again, he told me I would have to pay 10% + 15% to make up for THEIR agreement that they made with the vendor 30 mins after I left (aka this agreement probably doesn't exist.) . While I had been timid this entire process (total of 3 hours), I stood my ground and demanded that we stick to the original contract. All in all, what started out as friendly, informative service turned into a sketchy/unprofessional/unethical business. I may at first had cold feet about parting with my bag, but as soon as I felt jipped by some scheme to make easy profit off my bag... Nah fammmm - I'm keeping my baby. But a contract is a contract, so I held up my end of the bargain. They gave me a 1 hour window to get my bag immediately, to honor the 10% that was on my original contract... Absolutely ridiculous experience. I suggest coming here if you are desperate to be cheated out of your money. *** Let me make it clear, I upheld their policy and hence paid them the $120 promised by the contract I signed. This review is simply a comment to the sketchiness of TSDC's business in trying to alter that contract last-minute to make more money off of me. It is not my responsibility if the business is "disappointed" in not being given the opportunity to sell MY bag. My problem is that TSDC made it very difficult for me to take my bag back by making up excuses as to why I can't take it back, and adding an extra charges. Please respect your OWN policy and contract by simply returning other people's items when they ask for it, for the cost that was initially agreed upon. ***
