I went and they had a great selection. I didn't face any snooty shop keepers there. Not sure if they have different people working at different times. The prices are great and they have good inventory on blazers, slacks and suits, especially. Definitely recommend. read more

Consignors beware. I consigned two blazers with Gentlemen's Resale on May 26, 2026. Their written receipt states that sale information is updated on the 15th of each month for the prior month. Since then: No June update. No July update. No August update. Multiple emails have gone unanswered. Each time I have called, I have been told there is a growing "backlog." I visited the store and neither item was on the sales floor. I still have not been told whether my items were sold, what they sold for, or when I will be paid. On my latest call, this past Monday, I was again told that there was a significant backlog, that nothing further could be done at that point, and that my complaint would be passed along to accounts payable. When I asked whether the business was going under and at risk of defaulting on consignors, there was some hesitation followed by what I would characterize as a half-hearted denial. I obviously do not know Gentlemen's Resale's actual financial condition. But after more than three months without an accounting, payment, or meaningful response--and repeated references to a growing backlog--I am seriously concerned about what is happening with consignors' property and money. I am posting this publicly in the hope that Gentlemen's Resale will finally provide an immediate accounting of my two items and pay any proceeds that are due. I will update this review promptly if they resolve the matter. Update: they finally answered my emails. The jackets had been sold. I eventually received payment for them. read more

I found Gentleman's resales after searching for a men's luxury reseller in The Big Apple ( most are for women). I was really impressed by the selection and service . Great place to shop and partner with if you are looking to scale down your fine Menswear ! read more

I rarely leave reviews, but felt this warranted one. I spent over $750 on two jackets yesterday, the selection is excellent and most of the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, my experience at checkout left a sour note. The girl with dark curly hair working the cash register was dismissive from the get go. When my friend and I asked questions she acted as if we were putting her out, and when I requested a larger bag after my purchase, she visibly scoffed and rolled her eyes. It all was completely out of know where from the moment we walked in and especially for that level of spend, it honestly put a damper on what should have been a great visit. It's a lovely shop, but that interaction alone has me hesitant to return. read more

While searching for unique pieces throughout the city, I came across this spot. As I entered I didn't even get a hello but was stopped and asked if my bag could be held at the front. I looked around the room and I realized I was the only person of color there on top of being the only one asked to leave their bag. I have never stolen anything in my life, and I have worked very hard to become something of myself as a POC and I will not tolerate this discrimination. Please leave the discriminatory way of your ancestors in the past it is 2024. read more

Gentlemen's Resale - Used, Vintage & Consignment Near Me - New York, New York

Just walked in today 4/30 at 2pm , was greeted for a second by a lady who told me about the sale tags and then walks off, I walked around the whole store without any interest from the worker and when I realized that she didn't even give me the time of day I decided to leave, I said thank you a total of 5x before she even poked her head from the back to see why I was saying thank you, it's because I received no personal attention as if they don't need a sale.... loss from them cause that Prada bag in the front is really nice and if my service was different I would have spent the top dollar for it.. read more

I just bought a nice Samuelsohn suit in perfect condition for $250, went home and found out their suits sell new for $1300!! This shop has a very good selection of men's business attire. They also have some more informal shirts and sweaters. Everything is organized by size and they have a good selection in every size (except for shoes). The service is helpful and knowledgeable. All the clothing is in new condition even if in fact it is slightly used. Unless you have so much money that you don't know what to do with it, I don't see why you would purchase business attire new rather than come here. read more

I have been in the retail clothing business for over forty years. This consignment shop for men is second to none. The designer labels, outstanding selection read more

I was told it was a great place. But, dude, I don't wear used clothing. I have a job. I was surprised. I make good coin but I don't want to lay down thousands on a Brioni blazer. (Cashmere, by the way. Fabulous. And a steal.) Bought several pairs of slacks and two blazers. A pair of brown wool Joseph Aboudd slack was $50 or 25% of list for new. A nice man with much more fashion sense than I told me the fit and looked good. (My wife later confirmed this.) He also very nicely told me a cashmere overcoat I was wearing was looking a bit threadbare. Listen: if you know brand names or you don't and you still want to look good, this is a great place. Highly recommended. read more

Another review referred to the staff as "snotty"; that's true. I brought a suit to try to sell on a Sunday afternoon recently. The lady at the desk said that it was great and that they'd take it. About three hours later the store sent me an e-mail to say that actually they had changed their minds. I don't live on the East Side, so going all the way back just because the shop was indecisive about what it actually wants to stock was irritating in the extreme. Not that the clerk cared. He became snippy and defensive when I suggested that perhaps they should be more mindful of the convenience of those who try to do business with them. Next time I'm going to skip them and just donate whatever I have to Housing Works to begin with--that's what I wound up having to do anyway. read more

They have a great selection and the prices are pretty fair for the brands they're selling and the (generally very good) condition of the items. I imagine a lot of the stock comes from UES hedge fund wives who buy their husband's wardrobe every season then drop off whatever he does't wear. The staff is wack. They don't greet you or ask if you need help. If you do try to ask questions they're pretty unhelpful and dismissve. Whatever though, I'll probably keep going there in search of a steal on some Cuccinelli or Loro Piana. read more

Pedestrian designs at best, and incredibly overpriced. Filled with items that people bought in error, and wouldn't dream of wearing in public. Also, I find it hard to fathom why this store feels that a 20% discount off the original purchase price on their items, especially when said items are used, constitutes good business. I suppose they have a customer base who either don't know, or don't care about being overcharged. read more

I'm not rating it 2 stars because of the merchandise, but because of the snotty attitude from staff. If you want to get sized up by a millennial guy in skinny jeans and velvet slippers only to be summarily dismissed, go right ahead. Enjoy yourself, just don't say I didn't warn you. read more

Great service and staff. Always a pleasure. Good finds at good prices. This is a great place

Came with a friend of mine who was shopping. He seemed happy with what he got & he liked the pricing.

This is the best resale store I've ever been to. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The store is in impeccable order and everything is right where it should be. This is one of the best things about this city and everyone should check it out. You would be hard pressed to not find something you need/want. I traveled all the way from Arkansas and this is a one of a kind experience. 10/10 would recommend. read more

There are not a lot of QUALITY mens consignment stores in the USA. Anytime I am in NYC I stop here and have always been impressed with the inventory. I am certain that if ever I live in NYC I will probably stop by every week (there are probably excellent pieces that go in and out quickly!). Anyway, love the shop: friendly staff, well stocked with all kinds of clothes, ties, belts, bags, coats, etc. read more

What a waste of time. I came to drop some things off and I wouldn't have bothered if I they bothered to explain why they're looking for in detail on their website. Rejected perfectly good high-end materials, the girl was entirely dismissive and more occupied with flirting with a coworker while I looked at much of the less nice crap they were selling. Never going back, they're clearly not serious about doing business and not wasting the time of their local customers. "It's entirely subjective," they admitted. Yes, clearly. read more

I used to live in Manhattan; to be honest, this store is one of the two or three things I miss most about not living there anymore. Most of my suits are from here. It is truly fantastic, and I honestly miss it! read more

No point in going here. Everything is way too expensive. You wouldn't think this is resale given how much money they want.

This place is terrific for very fine quality men's clothing. They know their labels! They can tell when an Armani is two or three years out of date. They lower the prices of the goods the longer they remain unsold so if you're an odd size you may be lucky to really get a bargain. I found that Hugo Boss suits seem to be made for my frame and have picked up several over the years. There are pieces in my wardrobe, like a chocolate brown cashmere fall jacket with soft contours that I never would have chosen by myself, but was recommended to me by the amazing Emile (who I considered my personal dresser before I got married to Anne Auberjonois, the fabulous costume designer). Emile is very kind to heterosexual males who have no idea how to dress. He's never once rolled his eyes and I'm sure I've given him plenty of reasons. read more

Great selection and prices, very helpful staff. I've purchased items from and sold items to the store, and have had perfect experiences each time. The quality of the items they take in are superb, and prices are below retail and below discount chains like Century 21 and Marshalls, etc... read more

Superb selection for a man discerning in the way he attires himself. Perfect prices given the quality.

Yep. I'm a fan. Try and stop by everytime I'm in town. High quality items at a fair price. Great staff who know both clothes......and BBQ (inside joke). read more

Dropped in here this afternoon out of curiosity. They have an amazing variety and a very knowledgeable staff. Quality clothing, designer labels, definitely a place to return to, especially when shopping for a new coat for my husband. read more

By far the best men's consignment store. Selection always consistent and very fair prices. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I recommend it highly. read more

Please do not shop at this store. I bought two suits, one priced at $130 and one at $400. The one priced at $130 got a huge rip in it the 4th time I wore it that was repairable. The one priced $400 had small holes in it upon further inspection. Look at everything really closely and do not buy anything expensive as it seems a lot of their merchandise is very worn, although they still charge a lot of money for the clothes. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I bought and paid with a credit card. The seller said it was declined. I provided a second one, and now I see both have been charged. Unfair

The best high-end consignment shop in the city. Great prices, and the nicest name brands all in like-new condition. Plus the staff here is really helpful too. I have been shopping here for years now and guarantee you will be a happy customer. read more
