I recently moved to MD and I had to get my inspection done. I knew that I needed to get my shattered mirror replaced so I search Yelp for a good shop. I came across Tolker Auto and I gave them a call. They said to come in so they could accurately quote me. While there I asked about inspections which they do as well. I set up an appointment to get everything done. I dropped off my car the night before my appointment. The next day I received an update that my car would be completely done the following day which was fine. Michael and Dmitry are both very professional and the shop is very good with communicating updates. If you are in the Rockville/Gaithersburg area go to them. Pricing and service were both great. I have been going to Tolker since I started driving, so 9 years now, and I have never been disappointed in the service and the work they have done. My biggest fear with mechanics is that they will tell you that you need repairs that you really don't need and then charge you heaps of money for them. That has NEVER happened to me at Tolker. I think this place gets most of their business from word of mouth and families, so they are not strapped for business and they do not need to employ tactics like that to make money. My car is 12 years old and it runs great. I've never needed any weird repairs done, just oil changes (which are MUCH cheaper than at national chains) and repairs that I needed when things actually broke (and I could tell they were broken). I've had Tolker service my car before cross-country driving trips and before I would leave for school and it always ran smoothly. The prices they charge are very fair as well. They all commented that the mechanics did not recommend anything extra that wasn't necessary for the repairs and the prices were always significantly cheaper than other mechanics. Has been a customer for more than 10 years and I've always found them to be very reasonably priced with incredibly precise and respectful manner of conducting business. Very grateful for finding them. For example, my friend brought a car which did not have correct brakes installed. Instead of replacing these brakes and charging her money they recommended for her to take the car back to the previous mechanic and change the brakes for free because that is something that should have been covered by the warranty. Tolkers Auo Service are the best ever!!! I took my Volvo to Tolkers Auto Service for a third opinion. The other two places, Darcars and Fitzgerald told me different stories and prices, leaving me very uneasy and not very trusting about Auto repair shops. I just happend to ask a very good friend of mine, who is a mechanic, to check my car and tell me where he thinks is a decent repair shop in town. My friend told me what he thought the issue was and told me to check out Tolkers Auto Service. He has seen very nice reviews about them. So today, I took my car to Tolkers, uneasy due to my other shops nightmares. Well, they are so very honest! My charging system light went on and since I had not yet found a "go to" auto repair since locating to this area, I went through the process of reading reviews and making calls. Tolker's quote over the phone wasn't the lowest, but it was on the low end and based on the other reviews I scheduled the work with them. The charging system light going on could mean a bad alternator, a bad battery, or a short in the electrical system. All that was needed was to replace the alternator and that is what they did.They didn't pad the bill and they did not try to sell me on other work although if something was necessary I'm sure they would mention it. I get the feeling they are honest. The work was completed when they said it would be done. And it cost what they said it would. I was surprised at how quickly and efficiently they did service my car and what is most interesting, they didn't charged me a lot of money, even some of the details (replaced bulbs) they did for free.
