They pointed out that one of my tire rims is bent and the name of another business that could fix it. They were friendly and wanted to be helpful. This place is over priced, they will charge you more than other close by places and do crappy and slow job. They are extremely slow and will take hours just to get one simple thing done.. So our Rav4 had to be jump started despite the fact the battery was less than a year old. We decided to take the car to Autoserv rather than the dealer as they are so much closer to our home. We thought the problem was probably something else, but no, it was the almost new battery. After calling the dealership and finding out they would replace it under the warranty we decided, for a number of reasons, to just go with Autoserv since the car was already there and it wasn't worth the time and trouble to drive out to Gaithersburg. We authorized a replacement and an oil change while they were at it. About 3 hours later we got a call the car was ready for pick-up. The man who called was really friendly on the phone, asked me "and how are you today?!" When Rich picked the car up he said one of the owners, probably the father, was very pleasant too. All in all it was a good experience, the cost seemed reasonable, and they are so close to our home that Rich can drop the car off and easily walk home. read more

Unfortunately for me, he wants to keep my credit card until the refund comes through... so I made them call the cops. This is the only garage I go to now for all my automotive problems. They're quick, honest and reliable. I brought my car in earlier this week after another mechanic to me I needed my brakes replaced. They checked my brakes and found nothing wrong. My mother brought her car in after another garage quoted her $700 to fix her CRV. Autoserv quoted her $500 but ended up only charging $400. These guys don't "look" for problems with your car so they can charge you for BS work. They actually fix what you need fixed. They're always busy so I guess it makes sense. Took my car today to autoserv for service and the mechanic, Chris Schuler diagnosed my car correctly and fixed the problem perfectly. It's far overdue for me to leave a review on yelp for these guys. I've been here about half a dozen times over the past few years and here are my observations: 1) They are honest. This is really important for me as a consumer because I don't know a lot about cars. I have to be able to trust my mechanic. Alex and Pete are trustworthy. 2) Their rates are very reasonable. They are cheaper on labor compared with a couple car dealerships that I've gone to in the past. The car dealership always charges me an inspection fee to see what's wrong with the car (they credit this fee back if you decide to get the work done through them). AutoServ does not charge this upfront fee that locks you in. 3) They can do pretty much any work that a dealership can do. I've gotten engine work, other mechanical work, and basic maintenance things done like tires and wipers. Each time, they've done quality work. 4) It's family owned. From what I gather, there are two brothers and a dad who run the business. They sell girl scout cookies too. I like supporting family owned businesses in the community. I'm very happy with these guys and hope that they are around for a long time. read more

I cannot recommend this place enough. We've been going to them for several years and their prices are honest and they're pretty quick. Alex has looked into weird noises that our car was making and not charged us when he didn't find anything. When a faulty part caused catastrophic damage to our engine, they redid the work that they had done the year before even though we were over the warranty mileage. I have been going to AutoServ for years. Walking distance to the Metro which is a plus when I leave the car to got to work. I have brought in many different cars with a wide variety of issues, they have always been accurate and always with a fair price. No padding and I have not had to bring a car back for a re-do. I started using this place when I got hit around the corner from it. Very humble looking. It is now my regular spot. Squealing drive belt was fixed without the pain that the dealer gives me, pushing for replacing all belts. Last week we got 4 new tires for under $400. The dealer keeps telling me to fix the oozing lubricant for thousands of dollars, which is common in my Subaru, 200,000 miles ago. They do not. Love this place read more

I brought my car here a while back because my friend recommended the place to me and I received decent service. However my issue is with the customer service. Both times that I have been here I feel as though I am not valued. The front desk person I think his name was Alex is very rude. Maybe he was having an off day both times, but I was nice and trying to explain the issue with my car. He didn't even let me finish my sentences and told me that it'll take all day to diagnose the issue. So I left the car there at the shop. After about 6 hours I didn't hear anything and since their shop was closing soon, I gave them a call and again the guy on the phone was rude, he goes "yeah" and I ask what's the status with my car. He was abrupt and says nothing, and that they couldn't find anything and I should be able to pick it up. Now my issue is, if you weren't able to find anything isn't it common courtesy to give someone a call and let them know? When I went to pick up the car it was in the exact same spot and didn't even look like they touched it. I don't think I've ever been treated this way from a business, and they really need to step up their customer service. read more

I've taken my truck in for service at least 3x and every time I have been quite happy with their service and rates, I never felt like I was getting ripped off, though I do ask around to see if they are in line with costs for parts and labor and they definately are. Turnaround time is great, if they can't accomodate you the same day, they let you know to come back so that you aren't waiting around. I called the shop to get some guidance on what type of tire I should buy for my Honda Pilot and Dimas answered the phone. He literally spent over half an hour trying to help me figure out which tire would be best for my vehicle. I dropped my car off the next day to have the tires installed, balanced and also for them to do an oil change. They told me they would probably have my car ready by 2pm because they were swamped with appointments but at 11:20am they called me to go pick it up. I'm very happy with the amazing service I received from Dimas and the service they did on my car. It's safe to say I won't be going to any other shops for future car questions. read more

I came in for a tire repair, the tire was repaired and two days later still holding with no problems. Unlike another reviewer, I had to pay for my tire to be repaired which was not the issue. However, my issue was with the customer service. Not sure if it was the end of the day issue but the guy who assisted me was extremely RUDE. To the point, if I was really not in a pressed situation, I would have told him to give me my keys back and left. Location was clean, the work was done in a timely manner. But the customer service will keep me from never entering those doors again which is really sad. I have been looking for a good shop, based on the other reviews, this could have been it. This shop was recommended to me. While I think they are fair and a talented crew of mechanics, there is a disconnect when it comes to communicating with their customers. When I arrived at 1:10pm, I told Pete, the mechanic, and Philip, at the front desk that I would wait in their customer lounge in the front of the shop, that i did NOT have a ride home. I brought my car in for a front end alignment. But there were multiple issues with my vehicle that I asked them to look into, if they could fix them today great, if not I'd bring my car back. They told me they were busy and it could be a long wait depending on what they found. I waited 4 hours. At two points inbetween I got up to ask what was going on, but the counter was unattended, nobody was there. So I sat back down. Finally, at 5:05 pm they told me my car was ready. I paid for the repair and left. They only did the front end alignment and only diagnosed other repairs that I'd need to get fixed. I was surprised that it took so long. When I got home there was a message on my home phone from Alex saying that my car was ready - at 2:38pm. So I called and asked why then did I wait until 5pm to be told my car was ready - an extra 2 1/2 hours?? There was no apology, just a comment that "no one told him that I was waiting there." Wth? Its not the customer's responsibility to tell the right hand what the left hand knows. Somebody should have noted on my paperwork that I was WAITING THERE FOR REPAIRS. Don't they TALK to one another? Thanks for wasting 2 1/2 hours of my time and making me feel invisible and pissed off. I'd hate to think that they treat women not as well as their male customers, but, read the reviews.
