So we decided to stop by today at this new spot! We got the Chinanteco burger which was amazing the beer cheese really brought everything together. The mocajete salsa was really good. Super satisfied. We also got the mango habanero wings! I'll say this is super delicious, if you like sweet and spicy this is a must. The jalapeño ranch was a good combination. We ended with a casserole pizza with a little bit of everything I got half veggies and half deluxe t, the pesto was a good combo with the Alfredo sauce. . This spot was amazing, will come back even if am from NOHO !!!

Our pizza was not baked all the way, the dough was still raw and gummy in the middle. Disgusting.

We started off in the bar area before moving outside, and both spaces had their own charm. The design was definitely one of my favorite things about this place! As for the food, we tried three different pastas, including their signature pasta for the day. I wish I could remember the name because when I tell you that pasta was AMAZING! So creamy, full of flavor, and seasoned perfectly. I'm still thinking about it, and my biggest regret is not ordering another one to go lol. Our waiter was great as well! Very welcoming and attentive throughout the evening. Overall, experience was 10/10. The food was delicious, but the design and atmosphere are what really stood out to me. Definitely a place I'd visit again!

Our server was great as she explained to us the whole menu and our plates were changed every time it was full so they are very attentive. We got: Gem Caesar - nothing too special about this one, wish it had sort of nuts/fruits to elevate the taste. It was pretty normal salad 7.5/10 Charred octopus - we really enjoyed this octopus dish. We looked the romesco as it paired well with the octopus 8/10 Steamed Mussels: Unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan of this dish because some of the clams tasted very sour and bitter, while others tasted fine. For a restaurant recognized by the Michelin Guide, I expected better quality control when it comes to the freshness of the seafood. Serving clams that taste off was disappointing and took away from the overall experience. 5/10 Spicy Pomodoro - this was a must try! We loved the basil oil and ricotta together. This really elevated the rigatoni. 9/10 Squid ink mafaldine - we wished that this was more seafood tasting rather than a more meaty taste to it. Was not a big fan of the nduja base on this. The pasta was really fun though! 7/10 Banana pudding tiramisu- would probably come back just to eat this LOL. This banana pudding might be the highlight of the whole dinner. I can eat this all by myself if I could! 12/10

The bone marrow, mussels and clams, chicken liver, branzino and any pasta are the best although the pizza is great too, the best is to end the meal with a chocolate Bundino. My only criticism as of recently has been the wine staff, the last few times I have mentioned that I personally don't like the taste of natural wine and have asked for recommendations to suit my taste the sommelier actually said " so you like to drink chemicals then " , I didn't let it ruin my evening and the food was still excellent but their really isn't a place for that attitude. I am an avid wine collector and as the customer it's the wine staffs job to make the customer happy by finding a bottle they will like, not push their misinformed opinions on the customers. Management would be served well with some re-education in the art of customer service to the wine team.

The concept is upscale dining where you can see the whole restaurant and a open kitchen. Great place to catch up with friends or have a nice date. Ceaser salad - Overpriced, but the ceaser is delicious and well presented as a flower Scallops - these were my least favorite. Tasted normal and a little too much coconut flavor for me. Nothing special with this dish. Bone marrow gnocchi - one of my favorites. It was a great balance of strong flavor from the marrow mixed with this hard texture of the spinach gnocchi and I haven't ever had gnocchi this style before I highly recommend. Pizza - We got the margarita and the mushroom pizza. It is definitely above average, but could have been more crispy Squid ink pasta - This would be my favorite entree. The flavor is amazing. It gives you a strong sense of being a seafood dish without being overwhelming. Cavatelli - this would be a 3/5 without the truffle shavings. The truffles definitely elevated the dish Drinks - we tried the mezcal cocktail as well as the old fashion. Nothing special and I would prob just get wine or beer next time instead of a cocktail. Overall, it's tiny dishes of flavors with upscale pricing. If you want to get full definitely get a pizza.

We ordered: ~ chicken gizzard confit: husband liked this a lot. It's SUPER tender and delicious when eaten with the poppyseed ciabatta and whipped butter. FYI, It has a bit of the offal aftertaste, but i think still worth trying for the texture. ~ mentai cream ( my favorite so far ): this comes with mushrooms, so some people might find the mushrooms to be too much, but I love it. ~ uni pasta ( husband's favorite ): no additional toppings. good for uni purists. ~ tomato cream with spinach and shrimp: first time trying this one and it was delicious! I love the type of noodles they use in their pastas. Thin and easy to slurp up. Looking forward to trying their eggplant bacon mozzarella pasta next time I visit.

They focus on Japanese Italian fusion pastas and are a good option if you want to try Japanese foods in the area besides sushi or ramen. My absolute favorite dish of theirs is the Mentai Cream Pasta, so much so that I can't fully enjoy any other Mentai Cream Pasta anywhere else because I would just wish I'm having the one from here! It's so creamy and rich without being too heavy. The mentai savory without tasting too fishy either. The cream is perfect and not too watery at all. Rarely, wheb I want to change it up, I'll order the Uni Pasta. Their uni has a really "melts in your mouth" kind of quality and has a really distinct flavor without it being overpowering. I have yet to try any other dish since I already have my two favorites, but each dish comes with fresh bread and a side salad to start. Maybe one day I'll venture to other things on their menu but for now, I'll stick to my faves. Their service is quite quick and they are very friendly. The vibe is laid back yet perfect for a date night, I'd argue even for a first date. Relax yet intimate. Also, I love how theres bag hooks under the tables at the counter seating! Parking is ample in the plaza but since it is walking distance from the Little Tokyo Village if you were to park anywhere there it would be fine to walk to. Their hours aren't like a regular restaurant. They are closed on Mondays, open first at 11:30am-2pm and usually open again at 5pm for dinner time so plan accordingly. Everyone I've introduced to Pasta e Pasta absolutely loves it and if you ever were thinking of trying it out, this is your sign to go!

We went last night for the first time to celebrate my birthday as it's around the corner from our…read morefavorite pizza place Quartersheets. What a great small restaurant with a fantastic buzz. No detail is overlooked. Beautiful design -- reminds me of what your Italian grandma's dining room would look like if she had great taste. We took a Lyft since the parking situation is tough (but there is a paid lot down the street) and we were running late.I called and left message that we were running 15 minutes late and they got my voicemail and they were great about. Table was available right away. Cocktails were impressive - and we started with a dirty martini and a Negroni blanco. The garlic bread made with Bub & Grandma's bread is a clear winner. Our server Emerson was top notch and steered us through the menu and drinks and was informative and friendly as very professional. When he'd walk through dining room, he was scanning to see if anyone was trying to catch his eye. And when I did he came right over. None of this look straight ahead stuff I sometimes see when it's a busy night. You can get out of Donna's for a reasonable price if you stick to garlic bread, salad and one of their excellent pasta dishes (5 of the dishes are in the $25-$28 range). We splurged and got the scampi (from France) what a sauce, truffle gnocchi, amazing chicken Marsala with amazing mushroom sauce $32) and the Cesar salad was delicious and not mailed in. We ordered 1 dessert (panna cotta with pistachio brittle and fresh figs) and they brought a tiramisu and tiny glasses of their own limoncello out on the house. We also tried 1 glass of their special vermouth since we are vermouth lovers. A++++ experience all round and it was a high level of ingredients and food -- chef and his team are top notch. I now need to find out who's the chef in that kitchen because they've built an excellent team. Donna's slyly calls itself just a "red sauce Italian restaurant" but I'd say that's a real understatement...and I think it's a great date night or small group place because it's intimate and you can hear your table partners talk. I don't recall any music playing - just the warm brown background noise of fun conversation. We ate early (my preference these days) and if you don't see any openings for reservations, ask Resy to give you an alert -- you'll get notified when reservations open up. Emerson said they always hold some tables for walk ins. PS -- I normally don't leave such long reviews, but I have some friends who are chefs and who own restaurants - and when I see other Yelp reviews where someone leaves a one star because the hostess was allegedly rude when everything else is great -- I just hate to see how it can affect a restaurant. I have no relationship with this restaurant at all. I don't know any anyone who works in it or owns any part of it, but I just don't like to see people abuse the reviews -- the restaurant business is tough as it is. And as someone who has worked downtown and driven through Echo Park for 30 years - I think Donna's is a great addition to Echo Park.

Their advice is to share plates. For starters, we chose the focaccia, meatballs (not pictured) and suppli al telefono. The suppli al telefono was incredible and you cannot find that in most restaurants. The staff kindly explained they recommend 5 dishes for a group of three. So for the mains we ordered the cacio e Pepe and wild boar pasta (not pictured). The wild boar sauce is delicious. I am glad we balanced that arguably heavier dish out with the cacio e Pepe (which was light and flavorful). The sommelier also stopped by the table to introduce himself and is happy to pair wine with your meal. This is a great spot for a celebration or meal before a show/concert.

We drove from Orange county in about 2-3 hour traffic and made it on time on the dot. We still had to wait about 10 minutes for our table. The ambiance looked very romantic in the pictures but it was alright. I asked for the best view/table and we got sat next to where the waiters put the orders in. Service was pretty stale. Been here no? Okay what would you like to order. Puts the order in. No real presence in it. Didn't even bring the birthday desert that we ordered, the busser did. Which is fine but just seemed so irrelevant that was came here to celebrate a birthday. I think we saw the busser more than the waiter. We got the oxtail meatballs, and I forgot the name but it's the risotto fried balls, focaccia, and we shared a carbonara and a tiramisu. I'm sorry but everything was very bland and mid. Needed to order butter for the bread and it didn't help much. I've dined at a lot of different restaurants and my carbonara I make at home with cut bacon strips tasted the same as carbonara here. It was essentially a bowl of egg with noodles barely any parm and cut strips of fried bacon. The tiramisu we ordered for the birthday desert was pulled out of a fridge, and tasted store bought. My husband and I both rated the food out of 1-10 and we both said 5. Wasn't good and wasn't bad. Maybe it was what we ordered. Everyone got the same thing. Maybe because the waiter recommended? Spaghetti and their top salad. Overly hyped, as a lot of the reviews said. It was packed. If you want a hyped place with tables filled go here. Wasn't worth the drive and wasn't a good pick to celebrate a birthday.
