Picked up some sushi for lunch from the to go area. We got a special roll with crab and shrimp tempura and then my husband got the spicy combo. My husband sushi was decent. The spicy crab def. Had a kick to it. My special roll was just okay. There was plenty of crab on top but half of the roll looked like there was just tempura flakes and not shrimp tempura throughout the roll. Parts of the avocado also had dark spots on it too like it's old avocado. Again not the best sushi. If I got my husband's roll I would be more happy with it but for $13 for my roll I expected more. Tokyo Sushi is located inside the Riverfront Market. I've gotten take out sushi from here quite a few times. The one thing that sets their takeout sushi here from other places, is the thickness and the size of the cuts of fish they give you for your nigiri! It's like eating a small sandwich! I absolutely love it! The portion of the fish per piece of nigiri is pretty much what other sushi restaurants use for 2 pieces of nigiri! The husband and wife that work here are very sweet, the chef is of a few words, but you can tell he enjoys what he is doing, and takes pride in it. Can't wait until my next visit. read more

Located inside the Riverfront Market, Tokyo Sushi probably has the best sushi lunch specials in all of downtown Wilmington because while the pricing is similar amongst other establishments, there rolls are far bigger. You can get any number of items that are pre packed in the refrigerated cases or order freshly made rolls from the menu. The ingredients, especially the tuna, is super fresh. read more

As good quality sushi/sashimi you can have anywhere, save maybe Maui & Japan. Right by my corporate office in Wilmington, DE. (Via the lovely River Walk), in a market of sorts. Love this concept. AND THE PORTIONS!!! Normally you get a thin 2" length at the most, piece of fish on your nigiri. Same with slices of sashimi. Here, you get a generously sliced, 3-4" portion! In addition, the spicy yellowtail, cone-shaped hand roll I got was nearly the size of my forearm. (Ok, I jest, but it was a monster)! I also ordered some great octopus sashimi, mackerel nigiri, & white tuna nigiri. Very good lunch! read more

I've been frequenting this place since they opened over 10 years ago. They are a small shop in the food mall. You won't find a wide range of options and the sushi isn't cheap. However, its not overpriced and the chef gives generous sized slices. What they do have is very good. A great place to stop and grab quick bite or take-home. I used to get the sea world combo a lot. I always asked to substitute the teka-maki with spicy tuna. Now that's how they sell it! read more

This is my favorite in Delaware. The menu is simple and perfectly executed. Rolls are reasonably priced, artfully made and are PACKED with fish! I do believe they use flash-frozen sashimi grade fish, but the color, texture, taste and smell are perfect. Easily the best spicy tuna I have ever had. I think the secret is the kewpie mayo along w/ the right amount of sriracha and sichimi powder. Frankly, I can't get enough of this place and have at times, eaten it every day for lunch for weeks. I've gone as far as to pick it up for dinner AFTER having had it for lunch. Their introduction of short-grain brown sushi rice has been great! The Sushiman, YC Park is amazing to watch. I've seen him skin a cucumber with a sword-like sushi knife in no time flat, in a single ribbon and then continue to shave it into a nori thin sheet for his tuna naruto roll roll. The temaki are as big as a carnival iced cream cone. You can barely finish one of them, there is so much fish in there. The nigiri are beautiful. Uniform pieces of fresh fish, perfectly perched on the best sushi rice I've ever had (just the right amount of vinegar and sugar). Skip the newly opened Kooma. Save Mikimotos for a night out, but go to Tokyo for lunch! The owners are lovely, so support them in this tough economy. If you must eat sushi, eat it here! Why not 5 stars? I have to save it for places that serve the local fresh fish, plucked out of the water that morning. Let me know if you find a place that does! read more

Well, it's 6 years later and Tokyo Sushi is still here and seems to be larger than I remember it. I picked up a 3 roll combo from the pre-made case at $12 which have 4 pieces each of tuna (fine), salmon (fine) and Yellowtail (surprisingly very good) with scallions - all in brown rice and rather large pieces. I am pleased and Shall return now that I am back in this area again. Seems more like a "real" sushi place now and less like "supermarket" sushi. Next time I will order some nigiri to order. My only complaint? $7 - $9.5 for a sinlge handroll (They call theirs a demaki vs. temaki)??? Way too high. All in all very pleased and will return - and soon! read more

I have fallen in love with this sushi place at the Riverfront market. I usually get the shrimp or veggie maki roll made for me and I love it I have even tired the brown rice a couple of times and it was hard to get use to but i like it. They do have some sushi already made if your in a bit of a time crunch but for me I love it when its made it seems fresher that way. I always swing by the Riverfront market and when I do I make sure this is my first stop. read more

This sushi place is a nice little gem located within the Wilmington Riverfront market. You can either grab freshly made sushi from their refrigerator area or you can sit down at the bar style table and order. The service is fast, and the portions are very generous. I had the seaweed salad, tuna roll, and salmon skin roll and all three were very delicious and very filling. I also drank a jasmine green tea beverage that was very refreshing. The only drawback is this place is closed on Sundays since it is located within the riverfront market. read more

Its Riverfront Market, not a restaurant. As a little mini bar, its a very nice place to eat sushi. The sushi is always fresh and there's a homey feeling. The sushi is nicely priced, especially since fish costs have skyrocketed and it tastes great! I won't say cheap because Its not but overall, this is a must go! I've been here for lunch several times and have gotten to know the people who work here. They're very sweet people. I thought it was interesting that they are Koreans who make Japanese sushi. The sushi is always freshly made; they never use anything from the previous day and the portions are enormous. So much that I could save some for later. I especially enjoy the demaki (handrolls). They are my absolute favorite and are very filling. They had a generous selection of drinks to choose from (so much soda, juices, and even some green tea) and the miso soup is delicious. I especially like that they are a family business and try to come here when I can because even though Harry's Seafood Grill is right next door, I know I'm helping these folks in a rough time. I have always selected from their refrigerator of always fresh pre-made boxes. They have a good selection of rolls, piece sushi, and combo boxes to choose from. A good variety standard sides as well Gyoza, seaweed salad, edamame and the like. If you arrive later in the lunch time the selection may be somewhat picked over. Just grab and go when you are watching the time. They also have counter service if you prefer to dine at a more leisurely pace on made to order offerings. I went back here and either I didn't remember the prices (because someone else had paid last time) or their prices had gone up. It was almost $20 for 2 basic sushi rolls!! While the portions are big, they aren't filling enough to justify such a high price for 2 rolls for lunch. Will not be coming back at those prices. read more
