    Beef ho fun
    Lana S.

Came here for late lunch the other day. My husband and I got two special rolls, a shrimp tempura roll, salmon sashimi and beef ho fun. Beef ho fun was pretty good. Wish there was more noodles and meat. Mostly it was all vegetables. The rolls were decent. I thought there was too much rice in the rolls and not enough shrimp :( I also thought it was expensive. $13 dollars for half a roll I would get at other sushi places. I felt we paid a lot for so little food that tasted mediocre. Maybe there are better things on the menu to get but not that impressed by this place.

Takumi is always great! Love their sushi and hot dishes. I haven't dined in since the start of COVID, but my family has gotten takeout from Takumi fairly often. We ordered takeout this evening (pretty large order...my family can put away the sushi). The employee that took my order was friendly, our order was correct, and it was ready on time. The best items on the menu (in my opinion) are the orange blossom roll, little mermaid roll, concord pike roll, and baby octopus appetizer.

    That is the California roll.

Very disappointing. Ordered for carry out. 6 rolls and two entrees. The rolls were tiny and lacked care in their creation. Only received a table spoon of wasabi and a few strips of ginger for 6 rolls. The California roll, the most basic of rolls, had a drink straw sized piece of fake crab. It wasn't blended with anything--just a stringy small end of a stick. The fish in the other rolls was such a small amount and of poor quality. The avocado on the top of the specialty roll was brown. To be fair I have not had any good sushi in all of DE. A five dollar roll at Sprouts is of better quality and value than here. The General Tso tasted like shrimp which leads me to believe that they do not have separate frying baskets for shellfish. Lesson learned.

I came to eat here because the first thing on their website is "free miso soup for kids" and my 1 year old loves miso soup. Apparently they discontinued the promo even when the sign was still active on their website and I brought it up. The least they could do is honor the promo since it was still active on their website. The $3 cup of soup would have made the rest of the meal way better. Instead my $90 dollar meal was alright, service was a bit lack luster, and the atmosphere felt like they were trying too hard for be upscale. The food was fresh and a bit overpriced but I assume the mark up is for the "atmosphere". Would not be my first choice for Asian cuisine.

As you can see I've gotten this same shrimp fried rice "Takumi Fried Rice" and it's been $18.95, nit worth $26

I can't stand a sneaky business. As you can see I've ordered from here a couple times. Today I ordered calamari which was ok and the usual Takumi Fired Rice with veggies (extra $3.00 ridiculous), which is basically shrimp fried rice; I select brown rice, I'm not convinced it is. Anyways, it's fine when you dont feel like cooking and it's late. Every time I ask only for shrimp, since we don't eat meat; THERE IS NOT AN OPTION TO SELECT A MEAT, they write them all in the description, so you have write it in the comment box. I don't ask for extra shrimp, just for them to hold the meat. Well.. today 2am in the morning, I get a call and email from GrubHub stating that they are adding an extra $8.00 as a result of this! SERIOUSLY, you are going to charge me $26 for some shrimp fried rice! Not this day. GrubHub has since removed the charge and I will never ever patronize this business again. I knew I should haven't cheated on Rasa Sayang a couple doors down; they would never have done this. Last week when I ordered online for a friend for pick-up, they called me to tell me don't order on app it's more money, just call them. Takumi, you can learn at lot from your competitor.

From the top: Little Mermaid, Salmon and Avocado, Heaven, and Spangle rolls

Takumi is our go-to for takeout sushi, largely based on proximity alone. That being said, it is reliably good, though has never totally wow-ed me. Takumi is located in the Independence Mall on 202, with plenty of parking in the lot, though due to the proximity of several other restaurants, you may park a little farther from the front door than you'd like --- on a cold January day, we were wishing for a "15 min parking" kind of spot for picking up takeout. Our usual order includes Pork Gyoza to start, which are flavorful, but could use a bit more filling in my opinion --- you're often left with a bite of just shell. I almost always order an Alaskan roll, in part because it's my favorite, but also in part because I use it to compare apples to apples between sushi restaurants. Takumi doesn't offer an Alaskan roll on their menu, so I have them add cucumber to the Salmon/Avocado roll (I believe there's a surcharge. The salmon tastes fresh, but there is quite a bit of rice on the roll, which means you wind up filling up on rice too quickly to thoroughly enjoy the good stuff (boooo!). In addition, we ordered three other rolls on our most recent visit. The Heaven roll featured spicy scallops and mango with salmon, shrimp, and avocado on top, which we liked and felt was different from the usual sushi offerings at other restaurants. We enjoyed the Little Mermaid, a shrimp tempura roll with spicy crabstick. One of my favorites is the Spangle roll, which has spicy tuna, avocado, and is seasoned with aji nori furikake --- which adds a lot of flavor and is something I've never really seen at other restaurants. For our appetizer and four rolls, our total was around $50 --- fairly reasonable. All in all, I enjoy Takumi, but I tend to choose elsewhere if I have the time to trek a bit farther to fulfill my sushi craving.

The sushi is superb, but the facility needs upgrades: worn carpeting and flooring, wobbly tables, tired looks.

The food is cheap and not bad for price. About as good as Chinese from a strip mall can possibly be. It has the menus with all the numbers for the items. They have the usual kind of stuff. Has a few vegetarian choices. The best of these is the Bean Curd With Mushroom. It's $7.50 for a good amount. This only comes in the quart size. Along with mushrooms, it also comes with lots of broccoli. The tofu is slightly crispy. I would consider ordering from here again. It's best to get carryout. There's only a few tables inside and it's kind of sticky.

My husband went to pick up some Chinese for our lunch and he said they were super rude to him. He almost walked out but we are determined to find a to go Chinese place in Wilmington. This place is cash only and apparently the lady was particular about what he gave her (wanted more change then $10 bills). Anyway got the food and he brought it back home. Lunch special was kind of small. I got the roast pork and broccoli. There wasn't that much meat which was mostly broccoli which was disappointing. The fried rice was just okay and the broccoli tasted old. We opted to pay 75 cents more to swap our can of soda (comes with combo) to an egg roll. The egg roll was just a frozen egg roll fried in very old oil. I was starving so I doused it in sauce and ate it anyway. I also had a bit of an allergic reaction eating the egg roll so maybe I'm allergic to what's in it or the oil they fried it in. Who knows. Not returning to this place thats for sure. Maybe DE just doesn't have good Chinese food in general.

Comes with the egg roll which I did not partake cuz this boy is getting chunky. Chicken: 2.75/5. The chicken meat was kinda stringy. The sauce lacked boldness in flavor - it was neither sweet nor salty nor tangy. Breading was soggy. Rice: 2.5/5 undercooked and crunchy, unfortunately. Wok Hei was mediocre at best. It was different in a few ways, most notably it wasn't that run of the mill pink, green and white thing. Theirs was colorful and fun, great way to get my attention. And I liked that they were doing hot wings. I'm definitely down to try those however today I went with traditional Chinese. I got the Hot Pepper Chicken under the BBQ Specials and an egg roll. When the nice man handed me the bag it was heavy. When I got it home I saw why. It was packed with chicken and rice. At 5.79 I thought that was pretty awesome. And it was good and hot. Left my mouth with that tingling Szechuan sensation I've become obsessed with. I'm holding on to a star until I try the wings which comes with TEN different sauces. They even have Jerk Chicken on the menu. I would definately be curious to see what an Asian spin on a Jamaican classic would be like. Stay tuned for that review in the meantime good job China Wok!
