I tried a few new special rolls that were really tasty! The Shrimp Lovers roll was filled with shrimp on the inside and outside making it a true shrimp lovers roll. The Riverside Roll was a mix of scallop, avocado, spicy shrimp, and topped with jalapeño and crunch on top. It was little spicy which was absolutely welcomed! If you are a sushi fan, you should definitely check out Rice restaurant. Although they were only open for take out the service was still great! I opted for a bento box and some sushi rolls for lunch. I decided to try the Firework Roll out. The roll was pretty tasty, but I'm sure would have been better if it was not placed in a to go container. The container took away the tempura factor from the roll and the roll just lost its crunch factor. I'll be taking tempura options into consideration for future orders. If you are up for a fruity roll the Fruit Tango roll is amazing! This roll has a fried banana and mango inside and topped with fresh strawberries. The bento box was very fulfilling and came with soup and a salad. No complaints with the bento box and had plenty enough leftover to eat for dinner. I love this place! The food and the service the atmosphere all great! I've been here a few times for take out but decided to treat myself for dinner. Takeout has always been hot and ready good portion delicious fresh sushi! I love the tempura combo it's my go to order. They have a great sushi menu and hot food as well. The chicken and broccoli was good, traditional and exactly what I was expecting. The butterfly shrimp my boyfriend wasn't too much of a fan (there was a lot of bacon if you're a fan of that). Tried this restaurant out on Sunday with my parents and BF. My Dad got the Lobster roll and he liked it. My Mom got the Terriyaki chicken and didn't like it. She commented that the sauce was just spread on plain chicken and you didn't get that sticky texture you would with chicken that was cooked slow/low in a savory sauce. BF got two basic sushi rolls that were average and the Kani Salad (pretty small portion for the price). As the one low carb eater, my options were limited. I got the seaweed salad and the tuna ceviche appetizer. The seaweed salad was good and didn't seem to have added sugar. The tuna ceviche was good but for $15 it was overpriced for the portion size (about 2 ounces of meat with nothing else but a little minced onion). For about $21/$22 for my food I would have expected more food and needed to go home and have second lunch to feel full. Seems pretty average/above average but for the price, it goes down a star because you aren't really getting too much for what you're paying. read more

A few days ago, we decided (based on a number of positive reviews) to try this restaurant. When we entered we were seated promptly and greeted in a friendly manner. Since the menu was mainly rolls, sushi and sashimi, we decided to order the sufis and sashimi de-lux. The order included soup and salad, which were quiet tasteless. The miso soup was quite OK (but luke warm), but the salad had a strange tasting brown dressing, which was supposed to be the usual carrot dressing on these small Japanese salads. When the sushi and sashimi arrived it looked well decorated, but the fish looked tired. We tried a few pieces, but found them rather tasteless. The salmon was OK, but the rest was not. Barely edible pieces of rather stale and chewy fish. Some of the pieces, I found had a chemical taste, as if they had been sprayed with something. We decided to just leave about half or more of the each dish on our plates and ask for the check. The waiter/owner was visibly upset since we told him we did not want to take the rest home. A younger woman then came over to ask what was wrong. My husband explained to her that this was not Sushi quality fish, and we could not eat it. She apologized and offered to compensate us if we told her what we wanted as compensation. We had no idea what to say but told her it was her decision what to do to correct the situation. As a response, she said she would inform her supplier that the fish was not fresh. Then she simply brought us the bill and there was not even a discount offered. Apparently, since we did not give her an exact figure of the discount we excepted, she did not feel we derived any compensation. We were both upset about the horrible quality, and the rude behavior on the part of the owners. The apology was not sincere, and asking us for an offer of compensation, and then not responding at all was really a tricky strategy. This restaurant serves inferior products for a high price, the same pre-packaged sushi you get for $15.95 at the all you can eat Asian chain restaurants !!! Avoid this place at all cost! read more

Every time we come to Rice, we're always super happy. For some reason we always have Lydia as our server and she is just the sweetest. My husband has gotten the sushi & sashimi combo twice now and while I don't remember what I had the first time, this time I had Chicken & Broccoli. I'm not a big sushi fan but I will say their other food is still delicious! It always seems a bit empty when we get there though which is sad cause it is a really nice place. This place is a bit tucked away but the service is excellent and the staff very kid friendly. We came here for sushi and found some very unusual and unique creations for sushi, even one with fruit which was nicely done. We ordered wonton soup, walnut shrimp and chicken lo mein. The entrees came out before the sushi because our table was hungry so they didn't wait to serve the sushi first. Everyone at our table liked everything they tried. Wontons in the wonton soup had a nice blend of flavor. The walnut shrimp has a sweet mayo sauce and a nice crunch to the shrimp itself. The broccoli and walnuts were more of a garnish than part of the dish itself. The sushi was pretty in its presentation; they do not offer the little plates to mix the wasabi and soy sauce, which is a little unusual so I did without to get a sense of the flavor of each roll. I was able to pick up most of the rolls without trouble so the rice had enough stick except for the fruit tango and that is probably because the ingredients make it hard since it has a little more water content. This restaurant had good reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor so my wife and I thought it was worth a try. The most important thing regarding sushi is that the fish must be perfectly fresh. Unfortunately, the situation was just the opposite at Rice. I ordered sushi deluxe and my wife order sashimi deluxe. The plate was pretty but the fish itself was old and limp. We ate about half the order and then decided to leave. The waiter and manager asked us why we did not finish our fisher want to take it with us, and we explained that it was not fresh. The answer: "Sorry. This is what we received ed from our supplier. We will tell them you said that it is not fresh." (Did the restaurant not NOTICE that the fish was not fresh when they received the sushi?) It is the responsibility of any restaurant to make sure that all their food is fresh, but the responsibility is even more serious in the case of raw fish. Most of the customers were eating rolls made with mayonnaise etc. that may have masked the fact that the food was not fresh. I recommend staying away from this restaurant. Epilogue: By the next morning I had a very bad case of diarrhea, which I suspect was due to eating spoiled fish. read more
