We were part of a group of 7 for a birthday dinner at Tokyo Steakhouse. The service was friendly and helpful and the dining room we were need had multiple flattops which made talking amongst the group sometimes hard due to a lot of noise from all the cooking plus guest conversations. The pricing was reasonable for the amount of food provided. I had the chicken meal. It started with a small salad, followed by a miso broth. we have been here multiple times but this time was not good. wr had 630 reservations . we sat at 7 didn't eat until 830. there wert no chefs it was us waiting. if they would have said something when we checked that they were short staffed we would've left . my 80 year old mom does not eat this late. we were so hungry we ordered all these appetizers. then they wouldn't sing happy birthday or do anything special for my sons birthday. read more

Yesterday was horrible. Lunch hours are not posted we went at 2 and were told yeah that ended at 3??? The bar area was stacked with dirty food glasses while you had 10 bus boys running around. Crab ragoon was literally all just super over fried dough and cream cheese zero crab. Hibachi comes with fried rice they gave me white rice with soy sauce. The normal veggies you get was all onion and 2 chunks of zucchini.I ordered the split shrimp and only got one so they scrapped off my plate and said it was the cooks fault. Horrible experience last night. The food was good but the service was awful. Party of 10 for a birthday party. Our reservation was at 5. We were rushed the whole time, waitress seemed annoyed and her English was barely intelligible. Rushed out by 615 with a party of 10 is crazy. We recently picked up an order to go and were not disappointed! We had a few hibachi dinners and the portions are quite large - see the pics! The dinners each came with their own side salad and soup. The steak was soo delicious but the soup was my absolute favorite. Very brothy but not too salty. I love that they gave us a lot of noodles but they were not my favorite and seemed a little heavy. Would be great to have lighter noodles or more rice in place of them. Overall we enjoyed our meal (and got more than 1 meal of out of each dinner) and would try this place again. read more

This was our second time here as a family for my sister in law's birthday and we all really enjoyed it. The service is awesome and the atmosphere is nice. Food is incredible. I've had their golden lobster, steak(filet mignon), golden shrimp, spicy garlic shrimp, and chicken. All hibachi grills I've been to offer the soup, salad, rice, and vegetables with the dinner. Tokyo Steakhouse includes noodles with the meal as well! It's a lot of food! I've noticed a lot of people come here to celebrate birthdays(just like we do). It's a great place for it! Love this place!! I've been here a couple times and it was delightful. One experience I'd like to say was on my birthday, August 1st. My partner and I came in and had the best time. We were sat with another couple and our chef was hilarious! Great tricks and lots of sake shot at us! We had an amazing time. I got the shrimp hibachi dinner with fried rice and it was sooooo good. To die for. Lots and lots of shrimp which I'm always surprised I get so many pieces. It is clear that everyone loves this place, with all the photos of happy customers on the walls. It's beautiful, and so fun. There was another large group behind us that was also celebrating a birthday, so at the end of the night after eating, everyone sang happy birthday to me. It was so kind and special, it really made my day. A 23rd birthday is usually not that remarkable, but Tokyo Steakhouse II made it that way. Pros: Delicious food, lots of food and drink options to choose from. There is a separate side to get food without a performance which is nice, and is usually quiet. The hibachi soup and ginger salad is addicting, sometimes I'll grab pick-up just to have some of the soup! Cons: Depending on how busy it is, you might have to wait a while if you have a small group of people. My partner has to eat on a specific schedule because they have to take insulin, so it was a little scary for us to wait for other people. Not a huge deal, just something to note. Also, you might want to bring some perfume because I was absolutely covered in sake and smelled like it. Thankfully I wasn't driving home and I live fairly close by but it is something to mention! read more

First time visiting and will definitely be returning! Their setup is a mix of hibachi and individual tables so good options for dining. Hibachi tables seat 8 people and their service was quick and efficient. The staff was nice from walking in through walking out. The food was good and the portions were large!! I feel like I was full before my entree came out but great for leftovers. The steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and lobster along with chicken and shrimp! The hosting staff isn't the friendliness, and it's not the fanciest of places... but the food was great, and the staff who waited on us were great. The amount of food you get too is crazy! First time here. Having dinner with the kids. We had reservations but only waited about 10 minutes. We were seated at a large station with a few different parties. I'm not a fan of this but I guess this is how they do it here. The food is prepared in front of you and they have several servers taking care of you. Overall the food is okay. The biggest issue I had is the fact that your kinda rushed to eat your food. It's reminds me of a scheduled performance. I like to sit enjoy the food and evening and when I'm ready to leave I'm ready to leave. The place was very crowed and that's a good thing but I like the more relaxed environment. Me and my party of about 30 people just recently got food from here for a birthday celebration and the food was very not nice. The staff was very professional, but the rice and noodles were hard dry and crunchy. By the time we got veggies and protein the food was old and cold, spicy garlic shrimp is neither spicy nor garlicky and had some type balled up orange cornbread stuff on the top, wasn't mentioned in the description and didn't ask for it either. Such a shame - we have eaten here and picked up many times, but tonight they forgot one of our items (the cheapest one of everything we ordered, the gyoza potstickers). I called and asked for a refund for that item only since we didn't receive it, and they completely gave me the runaround. The woman who answered the phone passed me off to a man (manager? Who knows, he never introduced himself) who could not be bothered with my call. He wanted me to come back and get it (driving 25+ mins round trip) or receive a "credit" for the next time. I asked him to please just refund me the measly $9 for the item we didn't get, as I didn't want to drive 25+ mins and come back to the rest of my cold food. He then asked me if he could call me back almost 2 hours later "when they're not as busy" as it was "a lot of work" to process a refund. I explained that time was when I would be putting my kid to bed, and asked if he could call back earlier. He refused, so I definitely got heated and told him to forget it and eff off. Terrible customer service - and this is coming from someone with 15+ years food industry/customer service experience. We also tipped 25% on our $85 takeout order, as we always do. The drink list is well thought out and flavorful. The hibachi side of the restaurant offers a fun and entertaining atmosphere; especially if you're trying to have a good time with family and friends. For the most part I have always been happy with this restaurant, however this time was clearly different. I placed my order at 210 and was told it would be ready by 2:45. I showed up at 2:40 and waited around until 3:10 when I finally got my order. I placed an order based on their online menu which states the Hibachi Dinners include a shrimp appetizers, but when I went to pick up my order of 4 dinners costing $143, there was no appetizers. I spoke with the manager who stated the appetizer no longer comes with the dinner. I showed him the menu which is posted on their website to order online. The manager stated that is the websites problem and I needed to contact them to get it fixed because he told them to change it. When we got home, I noticed that the steak we had ordered was tough and very fatty. One would think when paying $30 a meal, $143 total, the main course would be edible. The rest of the food was good, but like I said, paying a premium for steak that can't be eaten is ridiculous and then to have the manager tell me to fix their menu issue and not compensated for their false advertisements. After refusing to anything to fix their mistakes, I told him I would be disputing it on my credit card. The manager ran after me into the parking lot telling me since I was going to dispute the charge he would give me a refund, but I had to leave the food. So now after our food being a half hour late he wanted to give me a refund only after I said I would be disputing the charge, up until then he was no help and refused to do anything for me. Be careful using your credit cards at this restaurant. I ordered takeout from them for lunch and my bill was $16. I left a $2 tip on the receipt and totaled it out to $18. A few days later I received a notification from my credit card that the restaurant actually charged me a 7 dollar tip. I called to speak to someone regarding the discrepancy and they immediately hung up on me saying they were closed. I called back and they didn't answer. I am disputing the charge with my credit card company to have it reversed. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has had this happen. I also dislike that they instituted an automatic 18% gratuity at the start of Covid that is still in place. That's the main reason I ordered takeout instead of dining in. I'll be taking my business to Kyoto Japanese steakhouse in Hoffman Estates. I hope the loss of a regular customer was worth the fraudulent activity to get a slightly larger tip. read more

Service is horrible food was tasteless. Was seated really fast and then forgot about for 20 minutes. Finally an Asian lady in a mask mumbled something not understanding I told her ice tea. She comes back 15 min later with the tea. I then ordered my food the hibachi steak and chicken. My wife got the spicy tuna rolls and then the wait. After over one hour I asked if my food was coming from Japan because it was taking so long. Finally 20 minutes after that my plate comes out and I take a bite and it's all cold and tasteless. Complete disappointment. The food also looked like a teenage kid prepared it. Everything was cut up wrong and it looked like prison food. They also had something on the bottom of the menu that I found Hilarious. If you order a meal and share it it's a 5.99 charge. read more

Well if you've never been to a hibachi chef chump show, your first time experience will pretty much be the same as the second, third, and kajillionth time. It's possible that there's only one samurai chef school where all these iron chefs are birthed from. So you see one, you've seen them all. Yes, I speak of the the black belt demonstration of chopping the veggies, the Thomas the Train choo choo onion tower smoke show, the burn your eyelashes and eyebrows fire show, and the infamous catch a food item from the grill to the patrons mouths! I ordered the shrimp and scallop dinner. Halfway down to finishing my plate, I felt like I was eating an overpriced and upscale Panda Express. My plate consisted of noodles, fried rice ($1.95 extra), veggies, shrimp, and scallops. I can honestly say that the quality and taste were just ok. I think half of the price of my food was the presentation. I do appreciate the fresh ingredients and that my food was made in front of me--- this means no hanky panky! Service--- it was bare. I think all the service was focused on the showmanship and no regard to other service but. Bleh. The dinner plate came with salad (probably the best ginger dressing salad I've ever had), miso soup (with tempura flakes and mushroom), and choice of vanilla/chocolate/strawberry ice cream. My family loves this restaurant. The food is good (albeit pricey) with a decent variety available. The kids really enjoy the show and the cooks are always very personable. In addition to dining in on special occasions here and there we've carried out once or twice. The sushi rolls we ordered were solid but the hibachi doesn't travel as well. Huge portions though. I do want to give a quick shoutout to our most recent server/busboy/photographer/singer Summer. She was literally running most of the evening doing everything but cooking the food. I normally don't write reviews but I had to say something about our experience at Tokyo Steakhouse. Our server was great and our Hibachi chef Juan was amazing. Very entertaining and the meal was fantastic. But that is NOT why I gave them 5 stars (although that alone deserves it). The reason is because when the check came we looked at the bottom total, added our 20% for tip and paid cash to the server. A short time after the server came back and said that the 18% gratuity was already added to the check and that we had paid too much. We were shocked by this. The Honesty and Integrity of this server to do this just floored us. I wish would have asked her name to mention it this review. She easily could have not said a word and kept the extra tip, we would have never known. I'm sure during Covid lockdown, they lost plenty of business, especially being Hibachi where people are close together. So I just want to say THANK YOU for your honesty.
