My first and last time I order from this place. Ordered a big shrimp ceviche & a order of "Caliente Sushi". Sushi only had 3 little shrimp on top a few avocado in the middle, shrimp ceviche was more a onion and cilantro ceviche. I could count the shrimp that was in there. By far the worst food I've order around south Elgin. I recommend you to spent your money somewhere else. I lost $60 on this disappointing order. read more

Only been here once on an off day, so I can't speak to the wild music parties that this place looks to have. But I can speak to the delicious and plentiful seafood. We ordered the Mariscada Vallarta, a tower of shrimp and prawns stacked on crab legs and mussels all covered in a delicious sauce. The drinks were good too, but it was definitely a seafood tower centerpiece. For 3 people, the $110 for food (+ drinks, tax, tip) was a bit steep, but we really enjoyed it and would order it again, so make what you will from that. read more

Food was way overpriced for the quality & portion. My husband & I barely touched our food. & there's never been a time where that has happened. Was not happy with this place. We came in & got seated right away but they were slammed packed. Our party got stuck by one of the speakers that was playing the DJ's music which really sucked because it was very loud. Waitstaff did not even acknowledge us our entire visit. Everyone around us was getting service except for us. Never even got to put our food order in. We waited 30-40 minutes & finally gave up & walked out. This place is absolutely amazing! The whole place was great and nice. Mi Vallarta is such a perfect place to bring your friends and family for special occasions. This place can surely give you an awesome experience and service. Very convenient and enjoyable spot. Their interior was huge, clean, and organized. They have plenty of tables and chairs. They have decorations and stuff that is interesting. They also have outdoor seating where you can eat while watching for some people and cars passing by the area. They also have live music which is really great. You can listen to and even request a song. They also have a bar or liquor corner. They have lots of options for beverages like cocktails, wine, champagne, beer, and others. Their bartender is excellent and professional. Their food menu is wide and you have plenty of choices. They have seafood, meat, veggies, sandwiches, desserts, and others. I ordered their Garlic Buttered Shrimp, a whole fish with fries and salad on the side, and a glass of their famous Coronita cocktail. I was really impressed and satisfied. I am giving it a 1 start basically because the hostess was far more attentive than the waitress was. Started out by waiting 15 minutes just to get our drink orders taken. Mind you this is during Riverfest so the place was pretty empty. Probably waited another 10+ minutes just to physically get them. The waitress took the orders while never coming back once to refill drinks. Everyone was empty. Asked for Pico de Gallo for the chips but it didn't come until the food came out. On the menu my husbands meal was to come with salad & fries but the waitress said he wasn't getting them because the menu was wrong. The kids ordered chicken Alfredo and they forgot the chicken. Asked for the chicken and they brought garlic bread out! They brought out my fajitas last and forgot the tortillas!! I had to stop the hostess just to get tortillas! Finally I told the waitress that everyone needed drink refills and she refilled everyone's but mine. My husband went to the bar to get me at least a water. Then comes time to pay. We waited FOREVER to get the waitresses attention, requested she split the bill.... 10 minutes later she said "we can't" then I hand her my Groupon and she said I can't use it on the weekends. This is where I lost my sh**! I asked for a manager and she refused to accept it to until I demanded she take it because I will never be back. She accepted it but then added a 18% gratuity. Foods pretty good just ordered a pretty big dish , had me waiting way to long my family got done eating and somehow I didn't get my dish yet, so I canceled it and brought my dad here for Father's Day and his plate has a long hair on the food so he didn't want to eat anymore. I am giving this place a two star because I went there for lunch and waited over 20 minutes for waiter to take my order. We ordered drinks first then I thought waiter would come back after attending another table to take our order but he did not, he went to attend another customer that ordered carry out. I went on my lunch break which I have an hour so I had to leave because of the long wait. I was disappointed I really wanted to try their seafood, I am not sure if I will go back since I did have bad customer service experience, maybe they need to hire more staff during lunch hours. read more

My family & I are always on the hunt for a good, authentic Mexican style seafood restaurant. Mi Vallarta exceeded our expectations. Their drink menu had every option you could ask for. Small appetizers of ceviche and salsa are brought to the table which is more than enough. We ordered the small size of the fish ceviche. It was probably one of the best ceviche I've had at a restaurant. I ordered the coconut which had shrimp, crab and octopus inside. My mouth is watering as I'm writing this review I've never had a meal so delicious. The seafood was all so tender and flavorful. We also ordered camarones a la plancha and they were seasoned to perfection. I was beyond impressed with this restaurant & I will surely be speaking highly of it and I'll be back very soon! read more

I wouldnt even give this 1 star based on our 1st 5 mins there. we didnt even touch our drinks before walking out. We came here on a Saturday night at 7pm for a bday dinner. We super excited to try this place out after mutiple recommendations!! We get to our table and then the music started. the music was set to dance club level for 3 tables. we couldnt even hear our waitress, when she brought our drinks back we did ask if they could turn the music down just a bit so we can hear our party have a conversation. You call to ask why and they tell you that you did your math wrong , We have the receipt with your signature the manager told me, well of course they do otherwise they wouldn't be able to change my card, good thing I filled the costumers copy with the same amounts and by the way I know how to count. When we arrived the first thing the waiter said was" I'll be with you in a minute and you guys better know what you want to order", this was our first time there and had no idea what was on the menu. We order a dessert for our kids to come before our meal ( they had already eaten) and it came when we where almost done. We tried this place yesterday at around 2 because we bought a local flavor deal. The food was expensive but it was pretty good. The waitress was terrible I haven't had such bad service like this in so long. She asked for our drink order and forgets to ask my hubby. Then she brings mine and forgets his lol. Then she brings our order and brings us the tortillas all together but he ordered flour and I ordered corn. We told her and she was like oh okay and nothing. My husband asked if she can put on the cubs game and she said okay never did. We kept seeing her talking to the hostess the whole time. Never filled our water never asked if we needed another drink. The funny part is that the place was dead we were the only people in there. This was so uncalled for and if they don't get rid of this waitress they will continue to lose customers because I am not coming back I'll stick with Sammy's where the service is top notch. I was excited to try out the new restaurant but was disappointed. Now I understand this is a Mexican seafood restaurant but I was surprised to see the lack of non-seafood items on the menu. I ended up getting the chicken fajitas that were okay. I asked for extra tortillas and was charged $2.95 for 5 extra. By the time the server brought them I was already finished with my meal. It would have been nice to see other non-seafood items and also some lunch specials. A $22 meal seems a little pricy for lunch. There are a lot of alcoholic beverages on the menu that seem good, so I'm willing to give it another chance. read more

My review is based on my taste in food and prices today. This is my second time here and the first time our waiter was great but this time around I order a refill for my soda and was charged for two sodas (my partner order a beer , it was only 2 of us and they charged us 4$ for the coors light but menu said 3$ and they charged 5.60 for 2 sodas when one was a refill). The huachinango was also very salty compared to the first time I had it . Not sure if they switch cooks or because I came on a different day . I also decided to try the sushi since they were 18$ (caliente) thought we would get a good amount or was going to be really tasteful but honestly I had better sushi and for less at the super market. Came here for the first time today food was okay. My family and I had the cóctel de camarón and sushi tempura as well as el molcajete de Camaron. I wouldn't recommend the sushi here it was tasteless as well as the Coctel. The molcajete was probably the only good thing. We were excited to try it and it was a total disappointment. Music was too loud and the service was very bad. The waitress never stopped to ask how we were doing. No napkins on the table and needed to ask a different server for some. When they brought the food they didn't brought silverware to cut the meat, again the waitress was nowhere to be found. Food was way overpriced. When I get the check they automatically added an 18% tip for 3 adults and 2 kids. I questioned the waitress about the tip and the reason why I didn't agreed with the tip because the service was horrible and she had the nerve to say that she did everything we asked for when in reality other servers were doing her job. I'm assuming because the servers already know they are getting 18% tip they don't care about providing a decent service. For sure will never be back to this place.
