We recently dined at Tokyo Steakhouse to celebrate my nephew's 16th birthday, and unfortunately, our experience with our server fell short. I do want to start by saying the host who greeted us was very pleasant and kind. I didn't catch her name, but she made a great first impression. From there, our server (I believe her name was Daisy) rushed us to place our orders, despite the fact that we were her only table at the time. It felt unnecessary and made the experience uncomfortable. When we mentioned we were celebrating a birthday, her response was simply, "I know," with no effort to engage or make the moment feel special. To be fair, she did bring us a couple of refills, but overall her attentiveness and social skills were not up to par, especially for an occasion like a 16th birthday where a little extra effort can make a big difference. In contrast, the cook was fantastic--very entertaining, personable, and truly made the hibachi experience enjoyable. He was definitely the highlight of our visit. However, service continued to be an issue. We had to rely on the busser for additional soda refills and eventually had to ask another staff member (possibly a manager) for the check and assistance with acknowledging the birthday. Unfortunately, there was little initiative from our server to check in or help make the celebration feel special. To be honest, the automatic gratuity was disappointing in this case. A $55 tip was added, but the level of service we received did not reflect that amount. I hope management takes this as constructive feedback and provides additional training, especially around customer engagement and attentiveness, because the overall experience could have been much better with stronger service. read more

My son who graduated wanted teppanyaki. Lancaster I believe only has 2 Teppanyaki spots and they are both Tokyo Steak. Well... I did a little research on Tokyo Steak to see what others were enjoying. In my opinion it's not much. I dont ever go to teppanyaki places. Last one I been to was Bennihana so I guess that's the standard. Unfortunately Tokyo Steak falls short. The Pros. The staff was friendly and for the most part attentive. The beer was cold. The Cons. I have to agree with others in saying the place is outdated. Not too much but it would be nice to see a fresh look here. Decor is nice but just need to be slightly refreshed. The chef, well they were nice. It just felt lack luster in effort trying to entertain. It wasn't sloppy it was more so less enthusiastic. Still nice though. The food. Well Im gonna be honest. I have better food at more casual even consider fast restaurants. This includes both quality, taste and execution. The sushi bar was closed so no sushi. I was a bit sad but in hindsight it was a blessing in disguise. The fried rice lacked flavor. Steak is cooked in teriyaki and lacked flavor and overall quality. The shrimp was mediocre. Salty was the only flavor profile. Veggies same. Salty and lacked depth. Tempura was okay. Edamame was okay. The food is prepared starting with the rice first then the proteins then the veggies. I think the veggies could be cooked along side the proteins. So that it all comes out at the same time. Oh well. Overall the food was meh, lacked depth, and was either just salty or tossed in a basic teriyaki. The price. After everything was said an done. A few beers, fountain drinks, 4 appetizers and dinner for 6 adults and a chile was $430 which included tip. Was it worth it? Probably not. I wouldnt recommend tokyo steak. However I do think all this could be easily turned around. Some upgrades to the decor. Change some of the recipes so that each protein is unique. And add less salt / soy to the fried rice. And lastly stop using margarine on the proteins and rice. Its literally just adding more oil. read more

Came to Tokyo steakhouse for my twins birthday wanted them to see an actual teppanyaki, and I thought they would get a kick out of the show which they did. It was very entertaining. The food was ok but when I was most impressed by was the fried rice that they made at that restaurant I don't know what they do to it, but it's the best fried rice I've ever tasted and I'd hate rice. Everything else that we got the surf and turf and scallops and everything else potstickers and tempura. I will get the rice and that's it if I ever go back here or if I ever come back here. The surface was OK we had reservation so we didn't have to wait long. The restaurant looks OK. I don't know if the steakhouse is in Tokyo look like this but if they do at least I know what or be familiar with the look. read more

Host, server, and chefs were very nice and accommodating to our requests. Parking was easy but I highly recommend parking as close a possible to the restaurant and away from the other establishment at the other end of the strip mall. The place is a little dated but once we were seated and started interacting with the staff, you kind of forget about the exterior or interior and just enjoy the quick show. The serving was on the bigger side. Our party of 6 each had a to go box at the end of our meals. We tried everything between the steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops, and squid. I probably would stick to the steak and scallops next time, just a personal preference. The fried rice was really tasty, I'm glad our chef gave us plenty. The Lover's Potion drink was pretty strong, I couldn't finish mine! But that's not a bad thing :). The only other similar place is in Palmdale so if you don't feel like making the trek across town, this is a good establishment to visit. read more

Save your time and money. This poor restaurant is unfortunately placed right in the wrong part of town, there were people fighting and arguing outside tons of people loitering. Then to top it all of Hope and pray you get a good chef, unfortunately our chef was very dull and boring. He didn't really talk to us at all and didn't put on the "show" you're hoping for when paying for this type of experience. He walked up cooked and left. Other tables were laughing and enjoying their entertainment but I guess we just got unlucky. The food was decent thank goodness and is the only positive thing I can say about the entire experience. But after these past 2 visits (12/30 & 1/1) I am sadden to say that I will not be going there anymore. The service has completely downgraded. How do we get served last on 2 separate occasions even when another party has arrived 20 minutes after us. With no consideration on our chef requests. Where do I start: We've been going here through out the years for special occasions, the quality has gone down. (furniture torn up, carpet dirty, + more etc..) Chef was not trained how to cook & stage the food. Most of ur group (ordered the chicken & steak, both were undercook, chewy & steak (red). Why would you let a new chef (R) take on a large group with poor training. Food by no means is cheap (my bill - 2 steak & chicken & 1 steak + shrimp, 3 drinks $122. Bathroom runs + trips, due to food or undercook. Sad, even the veggies were semi-cooked. Ur group cost, close to $400- $500. Went here for Father's Day with my family, the service was great!! Our Hibachi cook was the BEST!! Very patient with us, my brother is Vegan so he was very careful on how he prepared his food and made his before every other meal to avoid cross contamination etc. all of the food was delicious and our waitress was attentive on making sure our drinks were filled and we had all we needed. The only downfall is once our cook was done we were given our checks right away so kind of felt a little rushed to hurry up and eat and get out and the Ambiance was a little dark and circulation of the smoke could be better. We came to Tokyo Steak House for my daughter's 21st birthday. Despite the fact they said they were short staffed, the got us seated within a few minutes of our party being there. We did have a short wait for them to take our order, but they came out fast and took our drink order. The meal was good, and our Chef Juan, was great. I found a hair in my plate and after getting the waitress attention , they tried insinuate it was mines and they wanted to take no accountability other than offering a $10 voucher when the plate was $40 . Great place to dine alone or with a group! We always sit at the grill for the entertainment and because we love watching our chef prepare the food in front of us! I've had a few mixed drinks, the server did a great job with the zombie. Their sushi is fresh and delicious and a great price. This place was our worst experience ever at a restaurant . I ordered chicken, and shrimp . My shrimp was salty , the chicken was horrible . My drink was a Pina colada that was okay. It was my husbands birthday, I wanted to sit in the middle seat's, and was told I can't because they seat people so that they have room for everyone, but we were there first . They put us at the very end of the table on my husband special day, not a good move. The cook ask everyone how they wanted the food seasoned except for us, after putting lots of salty stuff all over the food everyone was served. Well, I don't like salty food neither do my husband. I told them it was my husband's birthday, their reaction was that they didn't care they just wanted money . This was a nightmare on elms street. Run the other way. I've gone here for many years my family and I. Recently my sister graduated and we went to have dinner there. My sister left her graduation card that had $100 in it on accident by her chair. She went inside to grab it and they said they didn't have it. Then it magically appeared OPEN envelope and the money was gone. They told her no one took anything. Perfectly acceptable Benihana style japanese food. The staff was friendly, and our table side " chef" was fun and engaging. Three of us went, and we ordered the filet, the shrimp, and the chicken plus fried rice. We were able to share them all, which was great. The meats were ok, the veggies fresh, and the rice good quality. Problem is, the food was , well, uninteresting.
