TL;DR - Sushi restaurant for those who have never had sushi or don't eat it regularly. Awesome to have this as a change of pace from the fast food offerings in the area. We were excited to see Tokyo House open in Aubrey/Crossroads. There is not much in the way of "sit down" restaurants near us - mostly just fast food which we really don't eat at that often. When we saw a sushi restaurant was coming we were very happy. We LOVE sushi. There is another Tokyo House in Princeton but we've never been to it - we just drive passed it regularly when we go visit family in that area; so really didn't know what to expect. The restaurant dining area was clean and the tables were spaced out nicely - you didn't feel like you were sitting on top of each other even when they got busy. Our server, Laila, was really great - she knew exactly when to check on us and was attentive and seemed to just appear when we needed something (refills, etc) - she had to of been inconspicuously watching from across the room. We haven't had that type of customer service in ages!!! It made our dining experience so relaxing. I'm sure we will be back because of the service and because there really is not that much variety in cuisine in our immediate area. We were disappointed in the menu offerings, though. We LOVE sushi and we are adventurous eaters, so the menu consisting of more than 50% (probably close to 65-75%) cooked items was a bit of a let down. Even the majority of the rolls were or contained cooked (tempura/fried) elements.

This place is brand new in the Aubrey area. We don't have many options so it's a really great add to the area. We arrived on a Friday night during prime dinner time. The wait was a bit extensive (~30 min) but the staff was all very friendly and moved with purpose. Ahí tuna tower- 3/5. It was missing sauce and was too avocado forward. I think they could have added crunchy onion or something to give it another texture. Temptation roll-3/5 not enough sauce and usually temptation rolls have crab meat on top with all the different sauces. Fried rice- 3/5 bland and was missing some oomph Noodles- 4/5 good taste and was a decent amount of noodles. Sake- 5/5 hard to mess this up :) Overall, for the price, I think we paid $75 including the tip, it's super affordable especially for sushi. I hope once they work out the kinks it will be even better. I'm super picky so for me it's a solid 3/5 but I think for the general population they will love this place and go back time after time.

We made a reservation for 5pm on Mother's Day and they didn't have a table ready for us, so we waited in the very small waiting area. That was probs the worst part of the visit and we only had to wait 10ish mins so not too bad lol it was just hard bc people were walking around us since there were other people waiting also. Now onto the food- delish, we got miso and onion soup- both were delish and flavorful, we got edamame and crab Rangoon - hard to mess those up. The denton roll was good! Now the noodles.. amazing! It needed a little more charred flavor (like a hibachi) and some salt but they do have that on the table so no problem. Didn't think hibachi could taste good without the show but I appreciated not getting shrimp thrown at my face lol

My husband and I tried Tokyo House for the first time after they recently opened in our area. We were seated right away, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. The food did take a little while to come out, but they were pretty busy and we didn't mind waiting. The restaurant itself was very clean and had a really nice atmosphere. The sushi and other food we ordered were tasty and fresh. The pricing was a little higher than we personally prefer, but we also tend to compare sushi restaurants to our favorite spot back home. Overall, we had a good experience and would definitely come back again!

So hubby and I decided to try this place out and it was a hit! I had "The Lion King" roll and it was creamy. Hubby had "The Avengers" roll and he enjoyed it. We also got the cheesecake tempura and it was delicious. We will be back to try something different!

We look forward to the salmon crispy rice bites and cowboy bebop's (even though we're surprisingly not whiskey drinkers). From the poke bowls to the seared tuna sashimi, everything is delicious. Step 4: Name every roll after either a volcano, a ninja, or an apocalypse. Komodo Loco apparently looked at that formula and said, "Nah." This place has actual character. The restaurant is dark and cool without feeling like you're being interrogated. There are cozy little nooks everywhere, and somehow it manages to feel both laid-back and upscale. Like if a speakeasy and a sushi restaurant had a child who grew up with excellent taste. Then the food arrived. Look, I've had plenty of sushi. I've had good sushi. I've had "my friend won't stop talking about this sushi" sushi. Komodo Loco belongs in the last category. The fish was incredibly fresh, but what really stood out was that the rolls didn't all taste like slight variations of spicy mayo negotiating with cream cheese. The flavors were genuinely original. We ordered the Crispy Rice Bites, the T-Dub Roll, and the Horacio Roll based on our server's recommendations. The Crispy Rice Bites were so good I briefly considered ordering a second round before I had finished the first. The T-Dub Roll disappeared from the plate so quickly that I suspect it may have violated several laws of physics. The Horacio Roll was one of those dishes that makes you stop talking mid-sentence and stare into the middle distance while reconsidering every life choice that led you to not order two of them. Which brings me to our server: Breann. Or Breanna. I apologize for not knowing which one. In my defense, I was busy entering a committed relationship with sushi. My daughter is moving to Denton, and since we don't live here, we asked what we should order. Breann/Breanna immediately became the Gandalf of menu navigation. There was no hesitation. No "everything is good." No vague server diplomacy. Just confident recommendations that absolutely delivered. She was kind, funny, helpful, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. More importantly, she made my daughter feel at home in a city she's about to call home. As a dad, that meant a lot. I also loved how Komodo Loco celebrated Pride Month. Not because restaurants have to weigh in on everything, but because the atmosphere simply communicated: "Hey, you're welcome here." And honestly, that's one of the best things a restaurant can do. Good food fills your stomach. A welcoming place fills the room. Komodo Loco managed to do both. So yes, I'll be back every time I'm in Denton. My daughter thinks she's moving here for school. I think she's moving here so I'll have an excuse to eat at Komodo Loco several times a year. One of us is probably right.

For a Saturday the place was filled with patrons which is always a good sign. Parking was a little crap but there's not much we can do about that. Its located inside a small strip mall of businesses. There is ample parking across the street but that does require walking is almost 100 degree heat. We were seated right away. For our table we ordered the sashimi bento box which came with fresh slices of salmon, tuna and white fish. The portions were extremely generous as they also included salad, miso soup, tempura with veggies, and a double order of california rolls. Thats definitely a Texan sized meal. We also ordered a octopus roll. This came with a large portion of ginger and wassabi too. Food was delicious, pricing wise even more competitive to Carrollton and we were in the vicinity so it was extremely convenient to nearby attractions, including the downtown McKinney historical district. It is so pretty on the inside, with the traditional Japanese flair. They have a great menu with an extensive selection rolls. The prices are great and affordable. We both ordered from their lunch special menu, which was any two rolls for $13. The rolls themselves are huge! We even took some to go because we couldn't finish them all. The fish is divinely fresh, along with everything else that was served. The service was excellent. We have found our go-to sushi spot and will return to try other options from their menu.
