    11 piece sushi lunch

If you ever find yourself hangry in Stockholm and desperately craving sushi, Tokyo Diner is a good bet. It's semi-hidden in a large market (you'll have to go inside the building to see it, but the restaurant itself is completely open), and popular with office workers in the area. You'll probably have to wait for a spot during prime lunch hours, but no longer than 10-15 minutes. Nothing about Tokyo Diner encourages you to stay. The high backless stools aren't comfortable to sit on, there's only 1-2 large tables, and the atmosphere is pretty bare bones. The menu is also pretty small, at least for lunch: there's just rolls, sushi combinations, and a few noodle dishes. But none of these things should discourage you if you're after a quick and delicious lunch. I tried their 11 piece sushi set and was really surprised by the freshness of the fish. The rice was a little gummy, but all the other ingredients were spot on. And best of all, it's affordable! Can't say I'll be back anytime soon, but it's worth checking out if you want a quick lunch in the area.

Udon Noodles were pretty good. It was a Westernized version with lots of meat and veggies but very little noodles. I wish there were more noodles. The broth was Ok. The fried duck was nice although it's not a traditional thing to have with udon. It's thoughtful that fried duck is served separately so that it won't get soggy in the noodle bowl. They didn't have a "correct" spoon for a noodle soup. I got a long flat spoon which was really hard to eat with (Japanese people use chopsticks and a spoon when we eat noodle soups). It's strange that they have otherwise nice porcelain and call themselves Tokyo Diner but forgot this important detail. Overall it was good but a bit pricy considering quality and portion were not up to par.

Service is fine and food is o.k. There is plenty to choose from and it is not standard Japanese fare. Decided on the spicy tuna and udon. It was just alright, a little on the greasy side. When we watched them prepare the food we noticed they don't place food off the fryer on a rack, just stack it up and push it out to tables. Can't recommend it since there is so many other choices in this market.

I wanted to try out some Ramen during the time I was visiting the town, and the closest place I could find on the map was Tokyo Dinner, plus the picture look quite nice, so I decided to come here and try out the food. The restaurant was actually inside a small supermall, it took my hubby and I a small while to find it. First I time I saw the dinner, I recognized the style and know it was the right place before I even check the name. it did got the dinner look of Japan even it looked a bit more modern. It didn't take time to get a table, probably we were lucky. After we sat down, the waitress just brought us the menu, I did find something might be good there , I wanted to try some Ramen, but they actually didn't offer that there, the only noodle I could find was Udon, so I ordered that. The udon I ordered was actually quite nice, the duck that come with the udon tasted with the sauce tasted quite different than what I had before, I kind of like it. The soup was light and refreshing as well. My hubby order their special tacos from the shop, he found the taste was just alright. I also spoke with the waitress a bit about the some dishes I saw online, she told me, some of dishes, they only made it for the take away, which means if the person eating inside the dinner, they wouldn't offer that to them. that was quite weird concept for me, I did saw some nice offer they had for take away on the board, such as bibimbap. Probably next time I should just order those and eat somewhere else. Besides that, I think the Tokyo Diner is quite nice. Under the dinner got a really cool underground local market, nice place to check some local food out there.

I love everything but one thing about Tokyo and that's their horrible uncomfortable chairs. Otherwise the staff is great, the interior is hip and modern and the sushi is superb. Tokyo Diner is great for shorter stays or if you are used to sitting on high chairs while eating at a table that is not quite proportional to the table. Take away is also recommended. In short. Tokyo Diner is one of the better sushi places in Stockholm. Worth a try!

I will preface this review by saying that I have eaten Ramen at some of the best joints in the world (including Butao Ramen in HK, & Ippudo in Shanghai & Singapore). I only ate the Ramen here. It was dreadful. And expensive ($25 / SEK149). Don't order it. The service was terrific , & everyone was super friendly.

I seldom eat fish and seafood so there is a general hesitation for me to head to sushi places as many of them have fairly bad vegetarian or meat options. I had however heard good things (from reliable sources like Patrik K and Paula D) about Tokyo Diner so whenI was in the area I could not resist trying. This small place is located inside Hötorgshallen (a mix of small market st alls selling food and restaurants) on the entrance floor. It has a fairly realxed feel to it despite Hötorgshallen often being very busy. We were quickly seated at an available table and the menu was already at the table. I was fairly set on getting the noodle soup and also some small pieces of tuna on the side to just try the sushi. When I spotted a guy at a table next to me eating the pulled pork tacos all that changed though. So eating at a Japanese restaurant I went for pork tacos - I can however say that it was a great choice. The tacos were excellent, spicy, flavorful and tender. I will say that it is probably the best Mexican food I had in Stockholm - granted looking at the competition it is not that difficult but these were awesome and I would return just for these. I also tried the cod from the person eating with me. That was also an excellent dish, carefully fried and with delicious asparagus and great ponzu majo. The only drawback in my view is the poor opening hours (close 18 mon-thurs, 18.30 Fri and 16 on Sat) and the prices are not really for your everyday lunch (145 for tacos and 185 for the cod). I would however rather pay a bit more and get food that tasted delicious!

I didn't expect decent and affordable Japanese food in Sweden. This place is in a small corner of Hötorgshallen, pretty close to the central station. I got the noodle soup from the lunch menu, and it came with katsu and an egg. However the service can be a bit slow.

I did really like how quick the meal was - all over and done with in essentially 90 minutes. Also appreciated the no-fuss casual setting, and the chefs all had humor. Now getting to the food - the courses were very small and most were just okay. We left not full which to me is an issue for a Michelin rated restaurant. The skill sets were also not entirely there for a supposed top notch sushi restaurant. Several of our sushi pieces had rice falling apart from the mold, which is a huge no no. If you are very versed in sushi would not recommend this. However, if you are new to a mikae, this could be a good experience.

Coming from NYC, I have access to superb sushi, so when when my friends wanted to come here I have to admit I was not overly eager using a meal in Sweden that I thought I could get back home. However, I am totally glad I came! The omakase was excellent. Appreciated that Chef Ishizaki is still the main person behind the bar and assembling most of the nigiri and dishes. There are plates/dishes mixed in, so not just sushi pieces. The cured egg yolk was fabulous. Wonderful sake list, and you can opt for a pairing if you like. At the end you can add on extras (notably otoro, which is not part of the regular omakase) - it was great, as they prepared it three different ways. A very decadent way to end the meal. Majority of seats are at the bar, but they have one elevated table along the window with a view of the restaurant (kind of like stadium seating). We actually sat here, and loved it. There's more room, next to the window, but still relatively close to the sushi counter. We had a dedicated server who was absolutely fabulous. Reservations are needed.

Our relatives recommended this spot during our holiday visit, and the ramen here hit the mark. I had the Red Hot ramen, which was rich and flavorful, with layers of flavor, tender and meaty pork belly, and a perfectly jammy shoyu marinated egg. Lots of flavor, and not too hot for my spice-loving palate. They use thin straight style ramen noodles here, which tasted fresh and had perfect spring. Our local relatives opted for their favorite, the Stockholm Shoyu - which also looked excellent. This spot is small and cozy, and they were able to seat us quickly even though they seemed quite popular for lunch.

I highly recommend not ordering the spicy miso because it was expensive and inedible. Instead of chashu, there was ground meat. I only ate a few bites and the reason why I took more than one bite was because I was curious and wanted to understand which part of the dish tasted bad. I figure out that the flavor was coming from the noodles. The spice came from a numbing pepper that I did not like. Spicy miso is usually my go-to when I order ramen but the flavor was not what I was expecting. When I normally order spicy miso, the broth is like tonkatsu with a spicy miso paste. At Ai Ramen, they serve hardly any broth and the broth they do serve does not taste good.
