Ramen with an extra slice of pork and an extra half of an egg
Sheri C.

This ramen was very good and worth the wait. This place only seats about ten people, so most likely there will be a wait. The menu is simple and the food is high quality. It's a very clean cafe and has a good ambiance. They operate as a well-oiled machine. This is not the absolute best ramen I've ever had, but it hit the spot and was very good.

Shio ramen

The ideal comfort food for a rainy Stockholm afternoon! My Shio Ramen was excellent, with perfectly prepared Chashu pork and a lightly ginger-flavored broth. So glad I stopped in!

Best chicken ramen ever

OMG, best ramen ever. And I've tried A LOT of ramen, having even studied in Japan as well. I love their ramen. You would never think this place have ramen because it just looks like a coffee shop, but seriously, come here for the ramen. Thanks to my yelpers, I was able to search ramen and this place showed up. We came and was really surprised that it looks like a regular coffee shop. We weren't expecting it to be any good from the looks of it, didn't look like a ramen house. Ordered. Sat. It came out, and it was a big bowl with a ladle for the soup. I got chicken ramen, it came with plenty of chicken slices, bean sprouts, half a soft boiled egg, carrots, spinach and arugula, green onions, and a seaweed paper. Usually ramen places do not give you many toppings, or even more than 3 slices of meat! This place gave you 8! The chicken was so tender and lean. My bf got the smoked pork and it tasted like bacon, it was delicious. The broth was excellent! It had great flavors without it being extremely salty (like most ramens). It was a lighter broth ramen. Apparently the person who makes their ramen is a lady from Japan. And thank goodness because she does a really great job! We wanted to come back to Cafe Stiernan before we left to America but didn't have the chance. Even my BF (who doesn't like ramen, loved it!) Totally recommend it, skip the pho and get the ramen.

Stockholm is certainly not the first place I expected to find a fantastic bowl of ramen but Café Stiernan proved my noodle-loving heart oh so very wrong. Wandering along the charming streets of Gamla stan (The Old Town) mein Deutsch sherpa and I spotted a tiny chalkboard sign advertising noodles and we decided to get out of the cold and give it a go. Once inside, I couldn't have been more pleased. This tiny cafe has a cosy air about it and after hanging our coats we took two seats at the counter. One look at the ramen offering and we both asked for a bowl. Whilst we waited for it to be assembled we ate some very nice homemade bread. Nothing could have prepared me for the beautiful bowl I then received: brilliant coloured veg, succulent pork, toothsome yet tender noodles and broth full of umami. I've been dreaming of the stuff ever since.

Tengumai. Sake from Ishikawa prefecture, where I am from It's the best. Please try.

I'm Japanese and I was very much satisfied with the quality of food. What more can I say? ;) Oh yes, their have sake from my home town. Try it. It's the best. (It goes well with the miso ramen).

I don't see myself as an ramen-expert, but I've been to Tokyo twice and I like to think that I know how a good bowl of ramen should/could taste. I've tried many ramen-places in Stockholm, and they've all left me more or less disappointed. One day I searched Yelp, to see if I've missed any ramen shops, and I found Café Stiernan. Kind of a misleading name - it doesn't exactly scream 'ramen'. But it had good reviews, so I thought I'd give it a shot! I was positively surprised! The ramen was sooo good! I've only had the miso dish, but to me it's near perfect - I could baptize my firstborn in that broth! The place seems to be run by a couple, and both of them are super friendly. The interior is quite "Meh" and there are no tables, you just sit by the bar or by the windows. I consider the place so good I've made it my Saturday routine to take stroll from Hornstull, down by the water to old Town and eat lunch there. Everyone in Stockholm that's having a craving for ramen needs to visit Stiernan asap!

Miso Ramen and Green Tea

Ramen in Stockholm?? I didn't believe it either, but this place came up on Yelp while we were walking around in Old Town (of all places). We walked in the first time to order a green tea and check it out, before moving on. Then we turned back around and came back after a few minutes, mostly out of curiosity to see what ramen in Stockholm would taste like. And turns out, the Yelpers aren't wrong, this ramen is actually quite good, definitely comparable to other places I've eaten! We ordered miso ramen: the broth was flavorful (but not too much so), the meat was juicy and tender, and the egg was perfectly soft-boiled. I would have liked to see some additional slices of meat and/or the other half of the egg, but still, it was quite a good (and very pretty) bowl of ramen. Top it off with some iced green tea, which is refreshing and light. If it's a nice day, sit outside and people watch. It's particularly fun to watch people double-take as they realize they're walking past a ramen shop in Stockholm.

Stopped in as it was a rainy day today, the perfect cozy lunch. I love coming to places like this that only have one item on the menu, you know that they are doing it right. There were three options for broth flavors and everything else was the same. The service was great and quick and the ramen was delicious. I went with the miso broth, yum!!

Saw this place online when I first got here and hungry for some ramen, but Café Stiernan was a bit far from where I was so I picked another restaurant, but turned out the place didn't offer ramen at all, so the ramen hunt continued. My hubby and I was walking around inside the old town, somehow we manage to find this place unintentionally, so we found a nice spot and give it a try. The interior design of the place was much more modern than I thought. And it was actually more like a café than a restaurant, but it happened that they also offer some food, in this case particular ramen. The choices of the ramen was quite limited though. I thought it would have more, but basically just spicy or not and some other two. But still I gave it a try. The ramen was great, I ordered just not spicy one. The soup was really good and the pork as well. I really did enjoy it. the price was alright, the staff was really friendly here. We could of try the coffee as well, but we were too full. We would like to visit this place again when we are in town next time.

Ramen with shrimp

Who would've thought you'd find delicious authentic ramen in the middle of Gamla Stan, Stockholm! Found this place randomly on Yelp and was really glad to have tried it out. The place is actually a cafe with pastries, coffee, and ramen. Interesting combination, but it seems to work for them since during the lunch hour, it was packed! Since it's a small cafe, there were only a few bar seats (maybe about 10-15 spots). It seems like a popular place for take out because there was line out the door. The two people running the cafe were definitely hustling to take care of all of their customers promptly. Service was good considering they were really busy. They had 3 different choices for ramen - pork, shrimp, and chicken. All three of them were good, though keep in mind the shrimp ramen used the small Bay shrimps. The noodles were cooked just right. They also included more fixings than I expected, half an egg and a few different veggies. They even had the Japanese spice powder that most ramen places have! I deducted 1 star only because the broth, though good, was way too salty. My mom actually asked the lady for a cup of hot water and mixed it with her broth halfway through the meal, which made the broth flavoring just right.

Fantastic high quality ramen restaurant located in central old town in Stockholm. Quite small place with twelve seats inside during winter time and a few extra seats during summer outside. Friendly and helpful personnel. Food is great, but for some people the soup might be a tad too salty. Take away option. Price is sound 15 usd (135 kr). Choose between chimp, chicken or pork. Vegetarian option available and custom orders. One dessert option. Serves wine, coffee, juice and carbonated beverages. Interior design might needed a upgrade, however is good enough. No toilet.

Shoyu ramen

Ramen in Stockholm? Yes! The broth is full of flavor, the noodles are just the right texture, & the meat just melts in your mouth. It's the perfect meal after a walk in Gamla Stan.

Noodle lifting in Stockholm. Miso ramen.
Sohee C.

My Korean parents liked the ramen so you know it's good. We got the miso ramen and shoyu ramen. I thought the miso was too salty, but my dad liked it. Shoyu was great. Perfect meal for a cold day. Owner and his wife were very friendly! That rising sun flag inspired logo though .... hmmm. (Bit of a negative to Koreans, for obvious reasons)

This hip ramen restaurant was a welcome meal on a cold Stockholm day! Coming from the SF Bay Area,…read morewe get a fair amount of quality fresh ramen. Our relatives recommended this spot during our holiday visit, and the ramen here hit the mark. I had the Red Hot ramen, which was rich and flavorful, with layers of flavor, tender and meaty pork belly, and a perfectly jammy shoyu marinated egg. Lots of flavor, and not too hot for my spice-loving palate. They use thin straight style ramen noodles here, which tasted fresh and had perfect spring. Our local relatives opted for their favorite, the Stockholm Shoyu - which also looked excellent. This spot is small and cozy, and they were able to seat us quickly even though they seemed quite popular for lunch.

I highly recommend not ordering the spicy miso because it was expensive and inedible. Instead of chashu, there was ground meat. I only ate a few bites and the reason why I took more than one bite was because I was curious and wanted to understand which part of the dish tasted bad. I figure out that the flavor was coming from the noodles. The spice came from a numbing pepper that I did not like. Spicy miso is usually my go-to when I order ramen but the flavor was not what I was expecting. When I normally order spicy miso, the broth is like tonkatsu with a spicy miso paste. At Ai Ramen, they serve hardly any broth and the broth they do serve does not taste good.
