Well, it is highly recommended and Michelin rated. Glad to make it during my first trip to Stockholm.Totally awesome experience. Omakase at its best, very small place, fits 12-14 ppl most. Multi course omakase otsunami. Friendly knowledgeable chefs, variety of drinks options, including good sake. The price is quite reasonable, at least in USD, $100 or so, before extras and drinks, for such memorable Michelin star rated experience. I wish we would have more places like this in Chicago. Sea bass, halibut, different types of premium tuna, including bluefin, and octopus were particularly good.

I had really high hope for this place but it just didn't hit the perfect mark for me. I decided to book this sushi spot after reading all the glowing reviews on Tripadvisor. While the sushi pieces were fresh, the tastes were nothing out of ordinary and it didn't stand out compare to other sushi joints in NYC. It was also very strange that they had 4 extra seats by the window, away from the sushi bar. So while they advertised them as sushi bar seats, you don't really get the full experience when you aren't seated by the bar. Lastly, the chef came around and showcased a big slab of fatty tuna (toro) and asked how we wanted it (sushi, sashimi, tartar). We asked if it was extra and he said you can order extra piece. I remember saying distinctively that I don't need the extra piece but we still got charged at the end. I think there was a communication gap where I thought our omekase came with at least one piece. Honestly, if you are in Stockholm, go try one of the modern Scandinavian restaurants. Save the sushi for Japan or NYC!

I contemplated a long time on whether or not to write this review in fear or karmic vengeance of the kind Chefs of Sushi Sho and the even more kind people of Sweden. The Eater's Guide and Michelin-backed "Classic Japanese" Sushi Sho does not serve sushi. The rice has so much vinegar, it overpowers the fish. The fish is slightly slimy and under-marinated or under-treated with a soulless aftertaste. The "white tiled walls" are lined with brown gunk. There is a mix-and-match use of Japanese ingredients and techniques like ponzu and Faroe salmon shabu-shabu. The closest analogy I have of the experience is having your Swedish best friend from college offer to prepare sushi for you after learning about it while studying abroad in Tokyo for one summer. The $100 per-person price point for local sea bass, salmon, scallops, and other white fish is robbery. The only Japanese fish they offered was Bluefin, which they charge an extra $60 at the end of the courses for an Otoro medley. There is also too much down time between the small-portion courses, which, in addition to numbing your tastebuds, is why they probably recommend you pair alcohol with the meal. As a sushi-enthusiast who has eaten at Kyūbey in Ginza, I find this Michelin-star-supported attempt at the fine art of sushi offensive. Digging deeper, I would say that this experience points to the European inability to empathize with cultural perspectives outside their own. Sushi is about discipline, the devotion one's life to a trade, with no small sense of precision and grace. Sushi Sho ignores all of these attributes. I am left hungry with a bad taste in my mouth after leaving Scandinavia. A person who enjoys Sushi Sho lacks a fundamental understanding and appreciation of sushi. I hope the next person reading this will move on to the next option.

I try not to be nitpicky, but if your restaurant has a Michelin star and/or you charge a premium price on your product, then you should be judged to a higher standard. After researching Stockholm, Sushi Sho was one of the restaurants I was looking forward to most, and made reservations as soon as possible (over a month or two in advance). I arrived about 15 minutes before it opened. Staff was friendly and offered me drinks beforehand. Eventually I was seated. This was my first and one of my biggest gripes. They have seating at the bar and a very small 4 person table in the corner. I was seated at the bar in front of the table. Sushi Sho is EXTREMELY cramped. Chairs at the bar have almost no space between each other. It's a chore just to take your seat. I spent the whole night (about 1 1/2 hours) tense, having to keep my elbows tucked in to avoid bumping into my neighbors. Even then it didn't matter, I would constantly brush elbows with both my neighbors. Also anytime I slouched just a little bit with the server behind me I'd bump into them. The food quality itself was excellent. I especially loved their egg yolk, tuna, toasted rice dish. It was truly one of the most unique dishes I've ever had. Perfect balance of texture and flavors. Unfortunately portions of everything else were very small, especially for the first half. For example, the abalone was essentially two small quarter-sized pieces. The proportions of rice to fish were also off, with way more rice to fish. Also noticed that rice was brought out in small batches. I don't know how much they cook at a time, but I noticed that my rice was perfect in some parts but mushy in others. The nigiri dishes they offered were pretty basic and nothing special. Another probably pet peeve issue I had was their seemingly preferential treatment to the big spenders next to me. They ordered pretty much every extra possible. And the head chef gave them each a huge spoonful of caviar, and commented how they don't normally do this. Awesome. Wish I could've had a taste too. I guess I should've spent more??? I think Sushi Sho has a lot of potential. They have some truly unique dishes, like the egg yolk or razor clam/onion dish, etc.. I think if they tried to expand on that and fixed their other issues (seating, rice proportion, etc.), this place would be incredible. As of now I can't recommend Sushi Sho, and don't understand how it earned a Michelin star.

Absolutely fantastic omakase dinner! Flavors were astounding, service was friendly and professional, and price was very justified in my opinion. The restaurant is very small, so I definitely recommend a reservation. The omakase itself was around 12 dishes with over half being nigiri. Some of my favorites were the arctic chard, otoro tuna belly, octopus, and Icelandic uni. Amazing flavor and quality. They also offered extra otoro dishes for purchase at the end of the meal. I ended up paying 750 sek, including tip, which equates to around 90 usd. In the states, an omakase of this quality could be hundreds of usd so I thought this was great value.

The best sushi experience I've ever had. The whole team was so wonderful. From the service to the knowledge to the flavors. It was the most intimate dinner and I only wish we had more time in Stockholm to go back.

Excellent Sushi restaurant in the middle of Stockholm. 3 sittings per day and chef's menu only. Chefs are Swedes worked and studied in both Sweden and Japan. Very impressed with chef's sushi making skills. Good sake collection and the sake sommelier is quite knowledgeable. He told me the restaurant actually sent him to Japan each year to visit sake brewery. A testament they treat their craftsmanship seriously.

After being awarded 1 Michelin star, Sushi Sho is busier than ever! All the worth is in the freshness of the fish and the complexity of some dishes. Everything tastes good but it is what you would expect of an acclaimed sushi restaurant; soy, ginger, spring onions, etc. I would also prefer to sit more comfortably around the serving kitchen, since the restaurant now only serves in sittings, of one and a half hour each. The chefs prepare most of the menu in front of the customers, which I found both entertaining and inspiring. To see such skill and knowledge on display, is always a privilege for me and therefore part of the whole SHO experience.

One of my travel companions wanted to have sushi while in Stockholm, and after a bit of research, we decided on Sushi Sho. Chef Carl Ishizaki and his crew operate a small 10-12 seat sushi restaurant serving mostly locally sourced fish. Reservations are highly recommended due to the small size of this establishment. We had reservations for 8:30PM on a Thursday night, but were not able to be seated until 9:00PM due to the slow turn over of customers. We ordered the omakase, and left our fate in Chef Carl's hands. Because the fish is locally sourced, some of it was significantly different that what we can get in California, but other items were very familiar. We learned that due to the brackish water in the Baltic Sea, most of the fish is brought in from Gothenburg or from Norway. The uni is flown in from Canada, frozen. The omakase included: clam, octopus head, salmon roe (ikura), octopus tentacle, herring, trout, cod, salmon belly, flounder, salmon, scallops and uni. The cod and salmon were served after being seared with a hand torch. At home, this effect can be accomplished with a toaster or salamander oven, but the hand torch is a very nice show, especially in a small setting. Unfortunately, the fish had the slight taste of propane or butane fuel. The rest of the sushi was excellent. Sitting so close to the kitchen, we could see the detail and attention that Chef Carl puts into every piece of nigiri that touches the plate. The ratio of fish to rice was perfect. We were also very pleased with the service provided by Chef Carl and his crew. Everyone was super friendly and we had the opportunity to spend some time chatting with everyone. We even learned that Carl's brother plays soccer for the LA Galaxy! If you a looking for an exceptional, immersive experience, I highly recommend Sushi Sho in Vasastan!

Best sushi place in Stockholm. Especially if you're into Edomae style sushi. Can be very crowded and you only get to sit there for an hour and a half (which is a lot longer than at Jiro's though ;)). Make a reservation in advance.

They have three seatings T-F and five seatings on Saturday. It is highly recommended that you get a reservation! I really wanted sushi and dragged three coworkers (whose idea of sushi is "california rolls") here to check the place out. When we got there (on a Wednesday evening), it was packed (easy to do as the place is tiny), but we were so lucky that the long table against the window with seating enough for four was empty. Even though we walked in right in the middle of a seating, they were nice and served us anyway. We all had omakase. My companions were great sports as they haven't had actual [raw] sushi before, but the chef's skill and freshness of the fish is what really won them over. Everything was so fresh and delicious! Next time I am in Sweden, I am going back!

Based on previous reviews, I had to try this place. Plus, it's within easy walking distance from my hotel. The venue is small but intimate. I ordered the omakase and received 16 pieces of wonderfully prepared seafood. There was no need for more soy sauce or wasabi. The chef dressed everything the way it's meant to be tasted. I would definitely return for more.

Nice sushi with good selection of fish, but the nigiri is too loose, and the main reason the score is not higher is the soy sauce. Not good.

Loved the decorations, lights, and table set up. There was just one main issue -- this place was hard to find for my guests! The rooftop is a bit of a maze with too many options and the izakaya isn't well marked. The view from the roof is amazing, though. Once my guests made it, they loved the drinks and the food! I enjoyed the many non-alcoholic drink options. Loved the Chef's choice Sushi moriawase, which had some of the most delicious and creative sushi rolls I've ever had. We also got the pork bao, which was a lot of food (they did warn us) and two desserts: Sesam & brynt smör sandwich and the matcha ice cream. Everything was so good! Then, I went downstairs to the main restaurant to have dinner with my main team. I told them how incredible the sushi had been upstairs, so I was shocked it wasn't on the main restaurant menu. So we got the Chef's Choice, which I thought would have more sushi, and the Crispy duck. The food was good, but I have to say, I liked the Izakaya's dishes a lot more.
