Esa sushi is great! It's price worth and fantastic! Sushi taste great and it's nicely decorated with sauces and seaweed salad, pickled red onion and other things. I have eaten here many times and bought take away more times. There are usually a lot of people lining up in the evening for take away so you might want to call in and order if you are in a rush :)

Delicious sushi and great value, especially for Stockholm. We each had the Esa special sushi 11 piece set, which has a great variety including eel, salmon, tuna and baby octopus. We also shared an order of California rolls. The set would have been enough but combined it was a delicious and filling meal. Miso soup was free as was jasmine tea. The sushi was so good, we tried to go back again during our stay but sadly they were closed for Midsommar!

Long line of locals ordering takeout, sushi was delicious, portions were large. The decor could use some help - looked a little tired.

So... this is the SMALL sashimi plate. Well played, ladies... well played.

Wandering around Stockholm on foot is hungry work and, lucky for me, the ladies at this little basement shop are not stingy with the fishy. I followed Yelp's directions to what I THOUGHT was a picture window till a tall, hipsterish dude opened it and ducked (literally, as it was less than 6' tall) inside ahead of me with an impatient grunt. Inside and down was a simple, 6 or 7 table space and a coven of nice oriental ladies, all speaking Swedish, behind the sushi bar. (One spoke enough 'Merican to help me order.) 8 mins later, a boat filled with a small aquarium arrived at my table, nicely arranged on greens and heavy on the salmon, but in generous amount. The whole octopus threw me for a second but only a second. As I ate, maybe 7 people came in to pick up large orders, so this place is pretty popular with the locals. Maybe you too?

The sushi is far above average here considering the pricing level. The presentation is similar to what you get at for example Akki sushi, there're a lot of toppings. They also have a few sushi combinations besides the usual, their esa special or grilled salmon is great, but so is their basic menu options as well. The interior is nothing special and there will be a lot of people who chose to have takeaway which might make the waiting time a bit longer. But even if there might be a bit of a line next to the counter the restaurant is big enough to not make the place feel to crowded for the people choosing to sit down.

Through a small door not more than 1,70 down some steps. This place surprised me. It is bigger inside than it looks from outside. It is a very popular place for young people and locals. Many take away their food. The presentation of the food is very playful, almost a bit overloaded. But it is good to see something different. If you are bored of your standard sushi, this is a place to go.

Staff was rude and told us to leave the restaurant at multiple times just because we changed our mind and wanted to sit at the restaurant

Best sushi in town. Service is not the best but the food weigh it up. The tempura rolls are the best.

Been here a number of times for take away. The service is fast. The price level is fair and the sushi well above Stockholm average.

I did really like how quick the meal was - all over and done with in essentially 90 minutes. Also appreciated the no-fuss casual setting, and the chefs all had humor. Now getting to the food - the courses were very small and most were just okay. We left not full which to me is an issue for a Michelin rated restaurant. The skill sets were also not entirely there for a supposed top notch sushi restaurant. Several of our sushi pieces had rice falling apart from the mold, which is a huge no no. If you are very versed in sushi would not recommend this. However, if you are new to a mikae, this could be a good experience.

Coming from NYC, I have access to superb sushi, so when when my friends wanted to come here I have to admit I was not overly eager using a meal in Sweden that I thought I could get back home. However, I am totally glad I came! The omakase was excellent. Appreciated that Chef Ishizaki is still the main person behind the bar and assembling most of the nigiri and dishes. There are plates/dishes mixed in, so not just sushi pieces. The cured egg yolk was fabulous. Wonderful sake list, and you can opt for a pairing if you like. At the end you can add on extras (notably otoro, which is not part of the regular omakase) - it was great, as they prepared it three different ways. A very decadent way to end the meal. Majority of seats are at the bar, but they have one elevated table along the window with a view of the restaurant (kind of like stadium seating). We actually sat here, and loved it. There's more room, next to the window, but still relatively close to the sushi counter. We had a dedicated server who was absolutely fabulous. Reservations are needed.

Well... This is the first review after a long, long pause in this department!…read more We've heard so much about this place for a long time, from our friends and some websites online. One special thing, and the very specific thing that our friends have been boasting about is the sushi boat. Yes, you read right. While having sushi delivered on bands is pretty popular and is considered normal, here in Stockholm you don't find many places like that. So imagine how excited I was when I came there and saw the table that looked like a boat, surrounded by individual chairs and inside the boat was a "river" where sushi-filled boats float around. So there we were, we had bought a coupon online to get 30 pieces of sushi for approximately half the price we would've paid otherwise. When we came in, no one was there, but that's because we came at a really odd time, 5 pm. As other people start leaving work for dinner, we sit there enjoying the boats to ourselves. The sushi chef made everything fresh for us. We got the normal maki sushi, the salmon nigiri, shrimp and tuna. After a couple of the extraordinary, ordinary sushi bites, she asked whether we'd like to try anything so we told her to give us her best shot. Out flowing were bites of sushi with octopus, followed by scallop and the Californian roll. Everything looked so delicate and put together. I ordered the green tea together with the sushi and it was wonderful. It was served in a heavy tea pot and I kept pouring the tea into my cup during the course of the meal but by the end of it I still had some left that I couldn't possibly finish. In the end, my fiancé and I left the restaurant very full, almost rolling as we cruised down the street, and very happy for the service and for all the excellent food. I'd come back here even though I didn't have a a coupon for the sushi.

For one, my wife just can't get enough of the mango salmon sushi. It may sound a little odd, but it's amazing. You can get either rolls or sashimi-style. It's not a true sashimi, as the salmon is slightly grilled, but that doesn't stop it from being delicious. They are also one of the very few Asian restaurants to do a respectable ramen. The flavors aren't exactly spot on (for any ramen aficionados), but it's still very delicious and wonderfully hardy. Perfect for winter! And last, but not least, we were quite surprised at the flavors of some of their side dishes like the salads and dumpling. Pleasantly surprised by the chicken dumplings, which had a healthy amount a ginger (a personal favorite). Again, not necessarily amazingly authentic, but seriously tasty. We really hope to see this restaurant stick around - we will be back often!
