I personally love the sushi side because I'm a sushi lover. I like that the prices are reasonable and the food is good. Whenever we pick somewhere to go for sushi this is my first pick. I absolutely love this place. I wish they had a better space. Both servers we have had have been incredibly friendly and the food is not only some of the best, but some of the best value as well. I think they have a lot of really good sushi options and they are always well made with generous portions of fish. They also have some really good bowls as well and they're perfect options for kids. Everything I've had on the menu has been top notch and definitely plan to come back often. I'd recommend it over any of the nearby sushi places. The space itself doesn't seem to be exactly a modern one or well decorated, but it certainly seems to be clean and well maintained. read more

Went here today with my daughter for her birthday for the all you can eat sushi. When I received the bill for two people I was charged per roll. Was told that because I did not ask for all you could eat sushi. I was not granted the all you can eat price. I've been up there numerous times before and just ordered rolls like we did today and always received the AYCE price. Don't waste your time here. You can just go down the street to Sushi Bros where they are much busier so you know the sushi is much more fresh! read more

They're currently running a grand opening deal with 30% off their hibachi and 20% their sushi. However, you cannot combine the two deals. It's one or the other. We ordered the dynamite roll, teenager roll, crunch roll, and a steak and shrimp hibachi entree. Dynamite roll: $10 --- $8 -fried spicy tuna + avocado roll - Had a lot of filling! - Decent flavor. Could probably use a bit more salt but not bad overall. - Supposed to be deep fried but it wasn't super crunchy. -pretty decent sized pieces 7/10 Teenager Roll: $13 --- $10.40 -salmon, yellowtail, avocado roll - I liked the mango sauce they drizzled on top! - lots of fish and thin layer of rice - could probably have more flavor - sushi pieces were on the smaller size 5/10 Crunch Roll: $9 --- $7.20 - shrimp tempura + avocado - I really liked the texture of this one. We tried this place for Hibachi at the recommendation of a Facebook group. It's tucked away in a strip mall left of the Publix on 92. The restaurant is a very basic hibachi style eatery, with clean but modest Asian decor. It was a Saturday night, 6PM, when we arrived, it only had 10-12 other patrons. We were seated in back at a traditional Hibachi seating area. The menu's were simple, we all sampled assorted Hibachi, steak, filet, shrimp, chicken, squid, and the typical soup and vegetables with Yum Yum sauce you would expect. The presentation was well done, the food was delicious, with more than ample serving sizes. Over all, this is a hidden gem. Very reasonable for a family dinner with excellent quality meat, sides, and service. We were stuffed, and really enjoyed it, try it! read more

The filet mignon and chicken hibachi were amazing. The sushi plates we chose tasted overly fishy and unpleasant. Likely won't ever try sushi here again. Someone else ordered the tuna with hibachi, and that wasn't very fresh either. However, I'll definitely return and stick with steak and chicken. The performance wasn't as entertaining as Benihana, but the decor seemed much nicer and brighter than Benihana. read more

This is a good restaurant but their location is killing new business. I visited on a Saturday evening & no other customers were there. Do people not like the food? Or are they unable to locate it? Not sure which one applies. First on site the interior is beautiful. There are a lot of place settings at tables & at the sushi bar. I then glanced at their menu & see why no one is there. The prices are sky high! Don't get me wrong, hibachi is expensive but should not be ridiculously priced. I understand those are dinner prices too but when you're competing with 20+ other local restaurants, you need to think of your consumer. I decided on the teriyaki Salmon. Soon after they brought out salad & soup. Everyone knows I don't touch iceberg lettuce and the dressing looked & smelled suspect. Not sure what was going on there. The miso soup was ok. Then it was time for the entree. I was counting on them to screw it up but was pleasantly surprised. The salmon came out piping hot & literally sizzling. I've never been to a spot to bring out salmon that fresh! I was impressed. Although the salmon was mildly overcooked it was enjoyable with the white rice. I'm glad I gave these guys a chance. I will most def be back with the rest of the crew as we film in Roswell this week. read more

I got the chicken hibachi lunch and two spring rolls and it came with soup or salad. I choose the salad. So the salad was barely a hand full of bagged salad mix with some ginger dressing on the side. The spring rolls were ok. The hibachi plate had bland plain fried rice, some veggies that were pretty good and chicken. The chicken was extremely dry, even with the sauce it was dry. Don't know if it was a bad day or I just chose the wrong menu item. Will have to think long and hard before I return! read more

We celebrated my daughter's 18th birthday here today. The restaurant was clean and they were very patient with us. We had a table of 7 including a 2 year old toddler. 2 of our guests were delayed, but the staff was very pleasant and did not mind the delay. We all ordered the hibachi. Our orders included filet mignon, scallops, and calamari. All cooked to perfection. My daughter in law has serious gluten allergies which can cause her to have debilitating illnesses if she ingests gluten. The staff was accommodating to her needs and cooked her food in the kitchen using gluten free soy sauce. The food was well priced and delicious. Will definitely go back again! read more

WOW! Our first time trying this little neighborhood gem and we are glad we did!! Everything was fresh and delicious starting with the house made mushroom miso soup. The hibachi steak and salmon were both cooked perfectly. Our chef was fun and engaging and the staff was very attentive. Very good place. We went here for my brother's 16th birthday. Most of us got the steak or chicken hibachi but I got the calamari to try it and my brother's girlfriend got the sushi. Everything was really good and the Fried Rice was amazing. It was a little hard to understand the servers but they were very nice especially the chef who gives you a nice show every time. I've been a customer since they first opened many years ago. I love their sushi and hibachi dinners. The sushi chef does not overload the nigiri and rolls with rice. I decided to give this restaurant a try given that it recently opened up in the neighborhood and also they have 20% off coupon on their menu until Aug. 2010. They offer the typical Japanese fare with hibachi grill. You can choose between Hibachi,Sushi/Sashimi plates, or other various chinese dishes. Spider roll was pretty good but pretty small. It's good as an appetizer plate. We opted for the sashimi combo. Fish was fresh. We didn't get wowed and just thought it was average compared to other Japanese in the area. read more

There's a reason they have a banner out front for 45% of hibachi. Hibachi chief had no clue what he was doing. Starting cooking the rice right away half way thru cooking rice he made a bad attempt at a volcano. He cooked the meats next instead of the veggies. We ordered our steak medium rare. All the meat at the table was cooked well done. Somewhere in between he threw out the sauces that were poured very uneven . He really didn't care. He cooked the veggies last. After dinner there was rice all over the eating countertop from the chief including the people around us. A real slob. Servers where nice but the hamachi chief ruined the whole meal. Looked like everyone in the half full place was there for a cheap meal because they were all drinking water. Do yourself a favor and spend the 20 bucks you save there and go to a good hibachi place. read more

First time here. The dinning experience was OK - 1. Here is why. Place looks cool, they have teppanyaki in the front, regular tables in the back, and a sushi bar. Decor and ambiance is nice. We got a regular table so this review is not for the teppanyaki. Downside, untrained and non attentive staff. I ordered tekka maki and the waitress gave me a puzzled look and asked me if that's on the menu, then asked me "what is that". Uh, really? I started to doubt I was in the right establishment, perhaps I had been teleported to a different restaurant. After a quick pause and look around I said tuna roll. The biggie for me was our drinks were never refilled and service was slow. Negative points right there...I'm a big stickler for good service. For the app we tried the gyoza and edamame, Then, we ordered a sakura roll, tai, tekka maki, volcano roll, and dynamite roll and all were tasty stuff. Also, there is no kids menu (according to the waitress), so the kids got the steak teriyaki dinner (a bit pricey at 17 bucks) with sauce on the side and split it. Steak was good, comes served on a sizzling fajita type platter on a bed of grilled onions, two pieces of thinly sliced carrot, some sliced zucchini, and one chunk of broccoli. The kids food came out first, about 10 minutes later our sushi came out. Their timing is a bit off. The timing gap was too big for me and could have been better.. I felt obligated to post a review on this restaurant as I've been a patron of their business for over a year and go at least monthly. I've had their hibachi and think they do a good job with it, but it doesn't stand out compared to any other hibachi restaurant. What I really want to talk about is their sushi (and I'm not talking about rolls). Their nigiri (fish on rice) is one of the best I have ever had. They have a special mix of soy and a citrus juice that they put on everything that is extremely mild and never overpowers the fish, but compliments it perfectly. If you have watched the documentary: 'Jiro Dreams of Sushi' its their variation of it. Kevin is usually always there and he will be able to guide you with what is the best fish they have that day. In fact, he once told me to get something else, because he did not think the tuna that had that day was as good as it should be. Most people don't care for nigiri style sushi, but if you do, you will not be disappointed coming here. They have some of the best Toro I have ever had. I wanted to write this review, because if you love pure sushi, this is your place. read more

Tried them around 8:00 PM on a Saturday night and they were not busy. The staff was unenthusiastic and lethargic. The emptiness of the restaurant made me a bit sad. Whatever music service or Pandora channel they were playing could only be described as Asian suicide ballad. Beer and wine only and the wine offered is mediocre at best. I actually considered leaving - but I was hungry and didn't want to deal with the hassle. I ordered the tempura appetizer, which was a bit smallish though it was presented nicely on a paper doily - it did contain an asparagus stalk, which was a fun surprise. Overall it was average. As my meal I ordered the "sushi regular" which as it turned out was an apt description. Nothing special here. It contained a tuna roll and 6 pieces of sushi; the rolls were tightly rolled and were about 1/2 the size of other places I frequent. The sushi nigiri pieces were above average in size but were a bit too room temperature and sweaty. Overall disappointing, I can't even grade on a curve, as the pricing structure was not on the value side. Perhaps it was an off night, but I won't risk another $30 to find out. read more

I wish a manager who cared about the business would one and clean house. There is an entire stand if tacky crystal "treasures" for sale. Get those things out of the and put in something else. Also since we've noticed many people come here for celebrations, they should come up with something special to acknowledge it (they do take a photo and put it on the wall and yes, we are on there a couple of times). We had our soup/salad. Salad very wet w/too much dressing. Soup was fine. The chef was entertaining. The hibachi food was fine. The sushi was delayed and didn't coincide with our dinners. Not sure why the delay and we had to ask where it was. The sushi was OK. The servers seemed distracted. No management seemed to be there. Our previous visits were much better. What has happened? This place delivers some of the best sushi I've had in and around the ATL, without the insanely high price tag you find at so many others. We came here last Sunday, when they offer $1 sashimi or nagiri on a rather wide variety of different fish. I think between the two of us, we ended up ordering 15 pieces. Given that the sashimi / nagiri tends to be my favorite, this is a huge plus already in their favor. I was also happy that they do their $1 special on the weekend, rather than during the week like most other places. They also have an amazing selection of rolls. A rather large number of the rolls feature 3, 4, or even 5 different types of fish. This is a second huge plus in my book because I love a good sushi roll that is heavy on the fish variety. We had the Thanksgiving Roll and the Phoenix Roll, which were both heavenly. The main ways I judge a sushi place are on the freshness of their fish and the quality of the construction (do they fall apart when I pick them up or take a bite?). All in all, Tokyo Boat hit the mark with these two things. All of the the fish was super fresh, and melted in my mouth. On top of that, not a single bit of the sushi fell apart. I also have to give them (again) high marks for their level of variety, and great $1 sushi offerings. This is probably our new favorite sushi place in the area. Don't get me wrong, the sushi at Hayakawa on Buford Hwy is superior, but at 1/3 the drive and 1/3 the $$, this will be our sushi place of choice nearly every time! read more
