I work nearby and came to have lunch here after many years. The ownership has changed and the place has recently remodeled. Its very nice inside and whe you come before noon olthe service is pretty fast. The bento combo at lunch are $12-$13 which you can't find anywhere in Bavaria these days. Absolutely incredible sushi, and a great value! The fish is so fresh and the servings were generous. Even the humble iceberg salad was delicious. No joke! Highly recommend this place! The sashimi omakase was extremely fresh, with generous portions and beautifully big cuts of fish. You definitely get great value for the quality. The eel roll was massive -- literally an entire eel -- and absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself is very clean and spacious, with a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. The service was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. It's located near Safeway, a bit away from Castro Street, so it doesn't get a lot of foot traffic, but don't let that fool you. This is a hidden gem and an overall great Japanese restaurant. Came here for dinner with a friend. I had the edamame and a 49er roll (I love sushi rolls with lemon, and this one didn't disappoint.) My friend had salmon sashimi, which was also very good. Prices were quite reasonable compared to other sushi places. The only down side was that they aren't serving alcohol yet - I guess they're still waiting on the liquor license. read more

Try this new sushi place and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very welcoming. I did an order to go. The new interior is beautiful and very clean. The menu is expensive and they have some really great pricing as well as some special lunch bento boxes that are a good deal and a points program where you can get rewards on future meals. this is a hidden gem. the outside looks unassuming but both the quality and quantity is value town! service is very warm and welcoming, the interior has a great ambience, and the food was really good. My friend ordered chicken teriyaki and honestly the portion size could've fed our whole table. Not only that, but the chicken was well charred and well seasoned. This place is a gem hidden in plain sight. Such a nice, calm space. The staff are always so warm and welcoming. Shoutout to Johnny for always making my family feel at home here! Came with a miso soup, salad, 2 California rolls, small scoop of rice, tempura, and entree (salmon teriyaki for me, beef and chicken for the others.) Everyone enjoyed their order and portions were very reasonable for the price, even had some leftovers to bring home. Kiddo also got a salmon nigiri, which he enjoyed. They do slice the sashimi part (in both nigiri and sashimi) thickly, but they still tasted great. I was disappointed by the shrimp tempura, though. The fried part was too thick, mushy, and floury with tiny shrimps inside. But I'd definitely go back for more affordable nigiri sushi. The staff were also super friendly and kind. read more

The restaurant is conveniently located near the Safeway shopping plaza, making it an easy stop for a casual meal. We visited on a Saturday evening with family and appreciated the pleasant decor and overall ambiance. We ordered a variety of dishes, including appetizers, combo set, sushi rolls, and a sashimi omakase. Overall, the sushi and sashimi were acceptable, but not particularly memorable. The toro, in particular, had some tough portions and lacked the expected melt-in-your-mouth texture. The teriyaki dishes, both beef and chicken, were underwhelming and lacked flavor. Some of the grilled appetizers also seemed poorly prepared, with the fish not tasting as clean or fresh as expected. Service could be improved as well--our waiter accidentally spilled soup and did not offer a replacement, which was disappointing. We also ordered two rolls of sushi. The sushi came out stuffed with fresh assorted sashimi. They did not skimp. Would come back for the sushi alone. Then out came my chicken. As they placed the chicken in front of me my eyes bulged. Was I dreaming? I kid you not, I saw a heaping mound of chicken teriyaki that probably equaled five chicken thighs. Over two pounds. For 18.95. The chicken had a nice char and good flavor. I n s a n e. Value town. But the taste was great and was fresh. I'm coming back to try their 8.95 to go box. One of the best sushi restaurants I've been to in the Bay Area (Amakara is my favorite) The Mango roll and the Caterpillar roll with homemade Unagi sauce were the best I've had.
