Tofa's is very close to my work, I usually do Door Dash pick-ups and they accept the orders right away and I never have to wait long for my food, even during lunch rush hour. I have tried the plates, wraps and salads and my go-to would have to be the 1/2 chicken kabab or chicken shawarma salad. Their pitas are always hot, soft and fresh as well as the crisp lettuce they use for their salads. the establishment is well kept and clean. The one hiccup in my meal was a sneaky chicken kabab piece that was slightly undercooked, but the rest were on point. I had high expectations for Tofas Mediterranean Grill as several people recommended it as a clean spot with fresh food. Good Mediterranean food usually hits the spot, but Tofas fell short. The issues started right at the register. The total price I was charged did not seem to align with the prices listed on the menu board. After double-checking, prices were different than I had been charged. After we sat down, the kitchen took a bit to prepare the order. When the food finally arrived, the quality was disappointing. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich. While the bread was decent, it only contained a few slices of tri-tip that were completely dried out. It was definitely not worth the price. Two of my family members ordered steak salads, and they had a similar experience. The meat tasted cheap and flavorless to the point where my family members stopped eating and left their meal unfinished. The restaurant itself was clean, and the service was okay even if the staff was not particularly attentive. I love Tofas Chicken Kebab plate. This whole plate is always perfectly seasoned. I understand it's hard to perfect a juicy and tender chicken breast but they always get it right. Their chicken is always perfectly seasoned with spices and herbs. The herbs is so light to where its indescribable but so good too! I love their salad. It gives a nice hint of lemon juice. Perfect for a palate cleansing. Yet, it's not overly powered by the lemon juice. The olive oil with a hint of garlic and salt just pair with it so well. Grilled veggies are always a yes! No need seasoning and it still taste the best. Their rice pilaf seasoning is perfectly and lightly seasoned, which it makes it so enjoyable with every bite. they also nicely warmed and toast the pita bread too. I love their juju sauce. I just love every bit of this plate. Everything is lightly seasoned yet so yummy too! RATE : 5/5 SERVICE :: I went in on a early afternoon. I just had their salad and I have to say it was fantastic. What I want to say was more fantastic is the service that my wife and I received from Johnny! What a great guy and an absolute pleasure to talk to. Having been diagnosed with diabetes and walking in with my head hung low he really put me on to some good tech! Well I ordered a shawarma salad which they said comes with meat, then and I added beef kabob to it for another $4. Bought this for my two kids thought they could split it but it only came with three tiny pieces of Kabob and no other meat. No Shawarma like they said. It allows you to "add" different proteins. Called and the woman who answered said they substitute when you pay extra. But on the menu it asks what type of meat you would like to ADD to your salad... for an extra charge. Make no sense. When I did add the Kabob they asked how I wanted it cooked. I said rare because they said that was an option. I got three rock hard well done pieces of meat. Not even sure if it's beef. The service seemed okay so I thought the food might be okay. In the end after I tipped it was $17.34 for what is essentially a green salad. Basically a large side salad. Now we have to go somewhere else after bringing this home just to find food for them. They need a little bit of protein (which is what I paid for), not just lettuce. These people ask for a tip before they even serve your food. Desperately wish I could return this food or at the very least get my tip back. I have attached a copy of the receipt and the "shawarma salad". After waiting there for 30 minutes this is completely unacceptable because all they apparently do reach in a bag of lettuce and throw it on a plate. Maybe chop up a couple onions and tomatoes and done. I doubt this meat was cooked fresh. Complete waste of people's time and that's even worse than wasting people's money. In the same parking lot as this place there is an Armenian Deli which serves amazing Mediterranean food called Ararat Market. Or down Herndon and Armstrong is Ark Mediterranean. I had a great experience at Tofas. When I first walked in, I expected it to be really cold, but the temperature was actually perfect and super comfortable. The bathroom was clean and smelled pleasantly fresh, which I always appreciate and notice right away. The music was great and added to the overall vibe. The girl who took my order was fantastic -- friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. She made the experience even better with her positive attitude and great customer service. Went to Tofas with a friend for lunch. We both had salads and she also had lentil soup. The lentil soup had bacon in it which was not listed or mentioned. She did not eat it and had it returned. The waitress offered her dessert but she did not take it. Salads were delicious and big. Falafels and chicken were delicious. Restaurant was clean. I think my visit was just okay. Below I've summarized how each part of my plate was! Chicken: This was actually the star of the show! It was tender, very flavorful, and paired nicely with everything. Rice Pilaf: I think it was a little too yellow (?) and a bit too oily for me. The flavor was also okay, but not my favorite. Salad: Too much vinegar!!! Veggies: Pretty good! Only a few pieces though. Hummus: I think it just wasn't to my taste, but it was really salty (compared to ones I've tried in the past) and a little watery. Pita bread: Perfect! I love this place so much. I'm writing this review because I placed a DoorDash order for my boyfriend and I and his plate looked amazing, but I felt my plate wasn't full like it normally was in my gyro pieces (I normally get the gyro plate). This wasn't a huge concern because I've come to this place enough times to know they really hook your meals up with the portions, so I just figured I'd call and ask how many pieces the plate normally comes with or if anything changed. The lady who answered the phone and helped me was beyond kind and very understanding! I sadly can't provide the name of the person who helped me, but shoutout to her ! She said I could come back in and get some extra pieces on the side and that right there is why you guys will have my business always. This is the second time I've visited this establishment. I was not impressed the first time ( months ago) but had another visit a few days ago. I wanted a beef and a chicken skewer- but à la carte. Just the skewers- no rice, hummus or bread. It's my fault I didn't check the order before leaving ( ordered to go), but when I opened my order at home. there were two small containers- one with 5 cubes of beef and one with cubes of chicken. No grilled vegetables (I've never seen a skewer with no vegetables). Price ? $20. I called and was told that's what you get when you order skewers à la carte- no vegetables. I was a new and now their last customer, I asked for extra item and I was charged. Before leaving asked again is the item in the bag. I should of checked but trusted the guy which said yes it's in the bag. I got home and it wasn't in the bag. Called and spoke to 'Giego' he i formed me he is the owner and he wasn't willing to accommodate my request which it would of cost him an extra 89 cents on top of what I had paid for. UPDATE 4: Manager made it a point to harass me in front of everyone saying I leave bad reviews. If you treat me the right way I would not have to leave bad reviews. I had to inform a customer that they were not allowed to engage my service dog ‍ per the ADA. It is a federal and state offense to engage or distract a working service dog. The customer chose to react instead of apologizing. Then the manager comes out and attacks me saying I'm in the wrong for telling her customer to not play with my service dog. To which I remind her she is a public access business and the business needs to be compliant with federal laws like the Americans with Disabilities Act. That means If another customer is engaging my service dog without my consent I have the right to ask them to stop with out the business retaliating against me. Then she attacked me for: 1.) my dog being off leash 2.) accusing my dog of roaming around in the corner First- the ADA allows her to be off leash due to my neck injury (see picture attached to this review) Secondly- I WAS IN THE CORNER getting the straw and lid for my soda. If I am on the corner getting an item obviously my service dog ‍ will be in the corner as well as she is next to me unless I tell her to stay laying down somewhere else! While she argued with me my service dog left our table and came over to the counter where I stood. Then she accuses my dog being out of control. I told her my dog is sensing that my blood pressure is dropping and by coming over to me to alert me she is doing what she was trained to do. Then she says I have to leave I said I will not leave I'm going to stay and eat my food I have done nothing wrong. I have only told this lady to not speak to and engage my service dog. She screams she can deny me service. To which I remind her you cannot deny me service because of disability reasons and you would be denying me based upon my disability and having to tell someone to leave my service dog alone. Lastly Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) states a business CANNOT retaliate on someone DUE TO THEIR DISABILITY OR HAVING TO DEFEND THEMSELVES BECAUSE OF THEIR DISABILITY. (See second picture I attached) Look i'm not out to get you and make you look bad, but if you start attacking me because someone else in your restaurant is breaking the law by trying to engage my service dog under state and federal laws, I have the right to talk to the person and tell them to stop distracting my service dog, and to ignore her and you do not have the right to tell me I cannot come in for service because they were in the wrong If you refuse me service it would be because of my service dog related to my disability which is not allowed. The person who was trying to play with my service dog should be the one who needs to leave if anyone is forced to have to go. read more
