Kid at the front counter gets upset and makes a scene when you use the entrance that leads to your place of employment. If you dont want people using that door, put up a sign or lock it. Not mention i would eat there 3 times a week. Kid needs to be taught manners which would then lead to customer service. I've been going to Gus's Kabob since 2017 when I worked downtown, and even after moving across town, I would still go out of my way to order from here because I've always loved the food. Unfortunately, tonight's experience was really disappointing. I ordered a spicy chicken plate and two regular burgers. When ordering, I asked about the difference between the Chef Robert burger and the regular Gus's burger. After hearing the description, I specifically clarified that I wanted the regular burger. When my sister picked up the order, both burgers were made with sourdough and ingredients we didn't want. We understood there had been a miscommunication, so she went back and explained the issue. The employee made the comment that it would be a waste of sourdough to make changes and didn't seem to want to do it. The employee then offered to speak with the kitchen and said they could move the patties onto regular buns, which we were happy with. Unfortunately, only one burger was corrected. The other was still the same burger we had originally received. I know mistakes and miscommunication happen, and I'm not saying the food is bad--I've been a customer for years because I genuinely enjoy it. But after spending around $70 and giving them an opportunity to correct the mistake, it was frustrating to still not receive what we ordered. It's unfortunate because I've supported this restaurant for years, but after this experience, I don't feel comfortable spending my money here again. I did enjoy the carrots and zucchini that came with the plate; they were soft and well-seasoned, not hard like you sometimes find at other restaurants. The Gus Burger - a Black Angus beef patty served on lightly toasted sourdough bread, with sauteed onions and bell peppers and topped with Thousand Island dressing - was about as good as it looked. It looked ordinary and tasted the same, so I was unimpressed. The fries were forgettable. I have also tried the Bacon Cheeseburger and this is a better option. The menu mentions it is also served with a spread of Thousand Island. I could have sworn mine was served with mustard on it. However, it has been a couple of years since I tried it. They may have changed which condiment is added to the burger. As for their Mediterranean dishes, the Gyro was a good choice for someone who wants a delicious meal without overstuffing themselves or on a tight budget. It mixes lamb and beef wrapped on a pita, with lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, parsley, and tzatziki sauce. The meats were well-seasoned, the lettuce, tomatoes, and onion gave the gyro a nice crunch and savoriness in combination with the meats. The tzatziki sauce gave it that distinct tartiness. The pita bread was lightly grilled and chewy. I wish they would have stuffed more meat into the wrap. Nevertheless, at $10 if you order a la carte, the gyro is a delicious and reasonably priced menu item. The Combo Kabob entree consists of beef kofta and chicken kabobs, Mediterranean rice, sauteed vegetables, onions, tzatziki sauce, a slice of pita bread, and creamy garlic sauce. The beef kofta was my favorite, it was so savory and juicy. The chicken kabobs were also full-flavored and moist. I felt they could have been more generous with the portions. Nevertheless, it is unquestionably the best dish on the menu. Service can be spotty. They need to do a better job maintaining flow during the busy lunch hours, including being more attentive and quick to bring dine-in guests ready to leave their bills. I was among the guests who had to wait patiently for a server to hand me my bill or flag someone down to get me a menu and then later to refill my cup of water. The system can leave first-time dining-in guests needing clarification. A server will take your order and bring you your bill after you have finished your meal, but you will need to pay at the counter unless you have a server with a credit card reader and processor. Not every popular dish on its menu is a hit with me. I would suggest sticking with their traditional Mediterranean dishes like the kabobs and pita sandwiches. The sautéed veggies dipped in the garlic sauce were great! The chicken in the salad was the same as the spicy chicken plate with bits of the crispy pita tossed with the salad was also good. Dined in service was kind of slow despite it being empty in there but noticed it's because they were a lot of to go orders. From taking the order and getting the food was not long though. This is probably the best Mediterranean food I have ever had. The chicken was justly named. It was creamy with a kick of heat. I would go back for just this dish. My wife had the beef kakob, and she enjoyed it as well. The beef was savory and was well seasoned. The fried zucchini was great as well. The zucchini was crunchy but didn't have too much of the fried coating. The dipping sauces gave a lot of flavor choices. I was surprised at the quantity of zucchini that was given as well. Except for Subway, this is the closest restaurant to where we staying at Doubletree by Hilton Fresno convention center. Ordered the combination kabob and the chicken and rice with fattoush salad. Lady on the line said 30 minutes, and this was 5:25pm. 5:45pm come by, and my order is ready. 5:55pm wife and I eat our meals at our hotel. The combo kabob comes with a generous portion of chicken, beef, and lamb. The lamb is ground up lamb on a skewer, and not cut slices of lamb, unlike the other two meats. All the meats are very dry, and the bell peppers and sauteed onions are overcooked, with some burnt edges. Love the Mediterranean type rice, tasting like Spanish rice, and the hummus and pita bread. Wife has chicken and rice with a Fattoush salad, which is lemon dressing over lettuce with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, bell peppers. Dry pieces of chicken over Spanish rice -so much rice that the wife gives me half, and takes the hummus and pita bread from my plate. Next time would eat right at the restaurant to minimize the meat drying out. Wife has me trained to walk a half mile round trip in record setting 111 degree heat for take out, as wife refused to do so. Need more training -the wife that is ! read more

We found this gem in downtown Fresno in the middle of a block with only a fedex that was open. We weren't expecting much of the place but the food was actually excellent. We called to order and the food was ready within 20 minutes. We ordered a chicken Shawarma wrap and a beef Shawarma wrap that came with the choice of sides of fries or rice and veggies. The garlic sauce that the pitas come with are really good. The rice is basic rice pilaf and is very buttery. The veggies were grilled with spices and it was really nice. The meat was well marinated and cooked well, though it is a bit salty. The fries were also basic and nothing special.
