One evening last week after the San Francisco 49ers game, we ordered dinner from Falafel Express through DoorDash. We ordered the Chicken Shawarma Plate ($11.99) for each of us. The meal was delicious. It came with rice pilaf, fattoush salad, garlic sauce and pita bread. I especially liked the pilaf! Everything was well prepared and presented. The dude and I have been chowing down TO GO at Falafel Express since mid April 2020 as I have been on a Hummus kick for the past two weeks. Plus Mediterranean food is pretty healthy in my opinion and when done correctly so delicious! Anywho since my favorite Mediterranean place HOP PK went out of business sadly I have been looking for a replacement nearby in Fresno/Clovis and the dude recommended this place. Which I am glad that he did as this place is so delicious!! I tried the chicken Shawarma plate and the dude tried the beef shawarma plate which comes with rice pilaf, garlic sauce which we swapped out for hummus and a side salad. The portions are huge! The chicken was very flavorful and seasoned to perfection. I am not a fan of rice pilaf at all but their rice was pretty good! The side salad was probably my favorite as it was so delicious! Seasoned to perfection and I love that it had a tart taste to it that made it addictive to eat! The hummus was super good! Flavorful and creamy mmm! The second time I decided to get a Chicken Shawarma salad which I was so impressed of how much meat I got!!!! It was a lot. The salad was delicious and it had tomatoes, cucumbers, pita chips and cheese! One of the best salads I have had this year! Also, my first time eating a Falafel and it was so tasty!!! Overall, I am so happy to find a mediterranean restaurant that is so good!!! Definitely a must try! read more

Told them I have celiac disease and cannot have gluten. Gentlemen explained they use soy sauce in marinades, and the only thing I could get was salad with no pita. Ok, great at least there was something for me while the family enjoyed the other entrees. Got 1/3 way through my salad to find pita chips! Now I may get violently ill from gluten. If he hadn't repeated no pita so many times, it would be my fault, but they made me feel safe! read more

COVID-19 phase: I ordered a chicken shawarma. The worker was very kind. He said it would be ready in 10 minutes. I went to get it. The worker was masked and very kind. The order was ready. He handed it to me. I paid for it and it allows you to add a tip and I did that also. After I paid the worker wished me a good day and I left. The restaurant was clean and they have outside seating if you would like. No indoor eating given these times. The chicken shawarma was delicious! Great, fresh pita bread, chicken cooked perfectly, great garlic sauce too! It had a lot of flavor! Definitely one of the best I've had! Great service and fantastic chicken shawarma! Smallest falafel wrap I have ever seen in my life, and I have had falafel in Egypt, Israel, the West Bank, and Amsterdam, as well as all over the US. Literally half the size a standard falafel wrap. Made me wonder how they even found a lavash made in such a tiny size (lavash is the flatbread that falafel wraps are supposed to be made with). Upon closer inspection, I realized the wrap was made with a tortilla. :( This is totally wrong, and the kind of cheapskate shortcut that bad restaurants use. There are 3 Middle Eastern bakeries in Fresno that make fresh lavash, so don't tell me they can't obtain lavash bread. Or heck, use pita, it's still wrong, but at least culturally in the same neighborhood. At least, if you had to, use a burrito wrap, so your wraps are at least the proper size. The falafel patty itself was tasty, but the wrap just gave the impression of cheapness. Falafel is supposed to be low cost "poor people food" (c'mon, it's a bean sandwich!!), based on garbanzo beans, and dressed up with tahini sauce, and abundant and cheap fillings, like lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and literally dripping down your arm and erupting out of the bread with copious toppings and sauces. This falafel wrap was dry and the toppings were almost non-existent. Is another teaspoon of lettuce going to wreck your profit margin? But I guess when you use a (small) tortilla as a wrap, there is no room for anything but the skimpiest of toppings. The rice, which a good middle eastern restaurant would take pride in, and cook with expensive Basmati rice, garlic, olive oil, and vermicelli, was plain converted rice with a drop of yellow food coloring. Converted rice, aka Uncle Ben's, aka that nasty stuff they prepare in school cafeterias and hospital food, because it's easier to prepare and keeps on a steam line forever. Another cheapskate substitution that shows the owners just doesn't give a darn. It seems the workers actually had some Middle Eastern heritage. I would personally be ashamed to represent my national cuisine in a foreign country in such a slipshod and cheap way. Obviously I won't be returning and advise others to stay away. read more

The service was great but the gyro wrap was horrible!!! Black specs from a dirty, old nasty oil that smelled horrible. So thinking after the first bite I would unwrap it and eat the stuff inside.
