This is one of my go to lunch spots when I am at work. I love their chicken gyro with the white sauce and the spicy red Sriracha-style sauce. The combination of both sauces with the juicy chicken, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and the warm soft gyro pita bread is incredibly delicious. The flavors balance perfectly and make it one of my favorite quick lunches. The price is fairly reasonable compared to similar spots nearby. One gyro is usually enough to fill me up. It was supposed to come with a salad but all I got was shredded lettuce and no dressing. The rice and chicken lack flavor. I had to use Italian dressing at home to add some flavor to it. Growing up in the Bay Area I was exposed to this kind of food via Halal Guys. After moving here I used to drive by this place every time I went to my fav Asian grocery store. Today I decided I was going to give it a try. I ordered the chicken and lamb rice plate and a chicken shawarma. Please keep in mind I have extreme bias from all the Halal Guys I've eaten in my life. I made an online order through Yelp and it took me about 9 min to get there and my food was sitting on the counter. There were two employees in the back prepping other orders and there was no one at the register. They didn't really acknowledge me for a min or two but they looked really busy. I saw my name on the food tag. So I picked it up and yelled "Hey is it cool if I just get my food" and one dude just looked at me and nodded. So I left. No biggie. Came to Halal Bros chasing the dream of Halal Guys... ended up with a very polite handshake instead of a warm hug. The chicken and lamb over rice? Solid "C+ student" energy. The rice was kind of there for moral support, and the white sauce tried its best, like a dad dancing at a wedding. The hot sauce was less "hot" and felt a bit sour. Now, the shawarma? Halal Bros has become a regular spot for me and one of my best friends due to its real bang-for-your-buck quality. I love getting their chicken shawarma wrap - the chicken is flavorful and juicy, and they make sure to add sauce to make sure the wrap is packed with more flavor and is not dry. Not to mention, the wrap itself is incredibly filling, and I typically get it with a side of fries and am able to split it between two meals for myself. They also sell really cheap smash burgers (which one of my friends has gotten before), salads, and rice platters, which are all great. The restaurant itself is nice and cozy - I really love the wall art that they have up, and it seems like they keep the space clean. Stopped by here this Sunday evening on my way out of Fresno, and ordered a rice plate with chicken. For some reason, the chicken was red, like Tandoori chicken. Not exactly what I was expecting, but the flavor was amazing, and it tasted really fresh and high quality. The rice was good, although it was a bit on the greasier side, and less on the seasoned side. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, and the tzatziki sauce also tasted fresh and perfect. The man who took my order was very friendly, and made my food right away. I was surprised by how fast it came out, especially because it tasted freshly prepared. The portion size was on the smaller side for Mediterranean food, but so was the price. Both the portion size and price were about half that of my favorite place in Sacramento. Still, it was more than enough to fill me up, and I ended up taking a small amount of leftovers back to Yosemite. My only complaint would be the proportions of food. It was almost all rice, with maybe three or four ounces of chicken, a little bit of lettuce, a tiny amount of chopped tomato, and a good spritz of tsaziki. I would have loved more sauce, hummus, or maybe some cut up pita or fries. Although I would have liked more variety, I was satisfied overall, and felt like I got a decent value for the price I paid. I wanted to try this place cus I heard it's similar to Halal Guys. Even the name sounds similar. I went in an ordered a chicken rice platter. He said the white and red sauce would be already on it. That was fine with me. I decided I wanted an extra red sauce on the side. I was gonna pay for it but he didn't charge me. I go to sit down and my food is already ready in less than a minute. They are pretty fast! So the chicken rice platter supposed to come with diced tomatoes and bell peppers and that is not present on my platter. It was just rice, lettuce, seasoned chicken, white and red sauce. The chicken alone was seasoned well. I was hoping the white sauce was like a garlic sauce but it wasn't.. Sorry guys, I was not impressed. I felt like it was very bland and tasteless. The fries seemed barely heated up. Chicken didn't really have any flavor and neither did the dipping sauce. Maybe I didn't get the right thing to be impressed, I'm willing to give it another shot, but it's also not going to be on my list to go for a while. Also, negative for me, you have to order from a tablet when you arrive. This always seems to take longer since people don't know what they are looking for. Did I randomly stumbled upon the best burger in Fresno? Oh yes!!! Went there because wife was craving some chicken over rice. Second time having this. I will say this time they loaded it up with a lot of rice! It kind of reminds me of halal guys but not as flavorful. First time I had it I tore up that whole bowl. Not sure what it was but it was really lacking on the flavor. I couldn't finish it because it was getting me really full and not satisfied since I wasn't getting any flavor, just felt like I was eating a lot of rice. We tried their smash burger which taste good, like an all American burger. Was disappointed to see there was literally only 3 strands of lettuce, and I asked for grilled onions plus whole raw onion and they did not put that in. Our Smashburger looked nothing like the pictures we've seen. I talked to the person working over the phone. She was apologetic and asked if we wanted to come back so they can remake the burger but by then it was just too far of a drive and we were hungry. That was nice of her though. The first issue was that the wait time was LONG , Because they only have 1 person working the whole store. And once the food finally arrived it was kind of bland and meat had a weird taste. My wife surprised me. I was across town and she was hungry. Typically when I ask what she wants, she doesn't know. Not just where to go, but what to eat. On this day, she shoots over a suggestion for Halal Bros. I know I've seen it, but can't remember where. I take a look at the menu and everything looks good, honestly. I've had a taste for shawarma lately, but the burgers look really good, and I'm real hungry. After a while of getting lost in the menu, I take a look at the pix. I recalled seeing something that looked delicious. According to the picture on Yelp, it's called Sonix Ultimate Chopped Cheese Sandwich. But I cannot find it on the menu anywhere. She puts the order in via mobile and I head over. I'm coming from near tower district so I figure the timing will be perfect. It wasn't. I even stopped at the nearby liquor store for something to imbibe on later before picking up my food. I arrived maybe a min too early. I felt like they didn't know anything about my order until I arrived, so I sat, played on my phone and what-not. 10-15 later I finally get my food and I'm gone. I've seen a lot of reviews about incorrect orders or items missing, and it happened to us too. It was only a soda, but since had already bought myself something, I didn't miss anything. Another thing I noted, it's evidently pretty warm in the cook area. The front door was open and they wanted it that way. It was cold out side, but they were in the back sweating. So take pity on these guys when the summer months arrive. When I get home, I do some things around the house before I eat, but the wife digs right in. Right away she notes that the special sauce is spicy. Noted. I go about my household chores and then come back. First bite. "She's right, it is a bit spicy." Another bite. "It's getting spicier." With every bite, it gets more and more spicier. I almost didn't finish it, honestly. It wasn't overpoweringly spicy, but it wasn't enjoyable for me. A person who likes some heat in their food might find it a refreshing change, but that is not me in the least. Mind you, we both got different things. So if you don't like heat in your food, don't get anything that includes the special spicy sauce. I don't recall much about the fries to be honest. If they were bad, I would have. Despite the food not being ready and having to force myself to finish my food through the spicy sauce, I'm not going to write off Halal Bros. I still want to try a shawarma or something else. Finally had a chance to try this place. We've been hearing about it and it's quite a distance from where we lived but dinner it is. We ordered the chicken plate and the chicken (spicy sauce on the side) + lamb plate. I think each plate was about $12 or so. For the price, portion was generous. You can technically eat 2 meals from one plate. The plates were quite delicious. The rice was a bit oily for me but it's okay. Saw that they had wraps and smashed burger. I've heard of this spot ever since they opened up and finally got to try it! First off, the whole staff is so friendly and attentive even though it's not a sit down service restaurant. I liked that they had the option to order through the screen so I could really see everything on the menu in detail. The hard part was having too many options! I had the pleasure of eating at Halal Bros tonight. It's been a minute since I've had good Shawarma, and Halal Bros did not disappoint. FOOD I ordered the lamb Shawarma combo, and asked for it extra spicy. Fair warning, if you ask for extra spicy, that's exactly what you are going to get. The best part is, you can still taste all of the flavors through the heat. The lamb Shawarma sauce was very true to Shawarmas I've had in the Middle East. And anyone who complains about the portions is just insane. As you can see in the picture, my Shawarma was loaded with lamb. I also appreciate that the food is Halal. Though I am not Muslim, I am conscious of what I eat, and the treatment of the animals that I eat. I don't go out of my way to find Halal food, but when it's available, I jump at the opportunity. PRICE The price point here is absolutely worth mentioning. Everything is under $11, which I appreciate the business trying to cater to the broke college students. ATMOSPHERE The atmosphere in Halal Bros has a very youthful urban vibe to it. The walls are covered in graffiti art, which feature a myriad of characters and themes. I didn't bother looking at my phone once, while I was eating, because I was too busy enjoying the art. I also had a chance to talk to the artist, who was eating there, Derek "Dee" Magee, about his artistic background and inspiration for creating the mural. OWNERSHIP I had a chance to talk to Tony, one of the owners of Halal Bros. Though this is a fast casual restaurant, he took the time to greet me, and other customers who came in, and took time to explain his inspiration for the food and restaurant. It's always nice to talk to local restaurant owners and see what their inspiration for the food is. To me, it really adds to the ambience and quality of the food. TL:DR If you want an authentic, delicious, Halal, Mediterranean fusion restaurant with a great youthful vibe, Halal Bros is your place. read more

I ended up ordering the recommended chicken rice plate with pita and hummus. You get the spicy or mild option andof course said spicy. I wanted falafel too, but unfortunately, they were not making it today. Didn't have the press is what I was told. Paid for the order. The restaurant is nice. Lots of seating! Music playing. Waited for it to be ready. You can see the chicken and lamb cooked in a cylinder. Looks delicious! Shortly later, the order was called and the worker wishes me a good day and another bye. They also text to notify you that it's ready. Lunchtime! Chicken rice plate split and my half was great! Tender chicken with a nice spice! Flavorful! I saw this place on Yelp and wanted to give it a try since the reviews and photos look good. Service: It was horrendous. I waited almost 1 hour for my food to come out. I ordered my food in store at 8:52pm and got my food at 9:45pm. People who ordered before me got their food 30 minutes before I got mine. There was no consideration from the staff to check on my order. There was only one guy working and I feel bad for him because he looks so backed up on the order. Food: I would say the lamb shawarma was good, but the chicken rice plate was not. The chicken was bland and lacked flavor. The rice also lacked flavor. The staff was friendly, they made the mistake of selling me on the lamb kabob w/rice and then 5 mins after I placed my order tells me he gave the last of the lamb away, to the person before me (like he didn't think about that while suggesting it and it wasn't even close to closing time) and then says to me you'll have chicken it's good before I could say anything. I was disappointed and felt like I didn't have a choice, but to go along. Then after a long wait of 25 min. He hands me my food and says this isn't fast food, good food takes time and I didn't even say a word about the time nor did I care really, I was just like alright that was a weird experience but I bet the food is going to be amazing! The food is ok at best, the white sauce they give you taste like bland mayo, rice was crunchy with no flavor, chopped lettuce... Chicken was the best part but only had some flavor with a lot of fatty chewy parts. Based on flavor alone though I would say not worth the $.
