Yum. 10/10 Sampler plate 10/10 - get the yogurt and shallot dip Beef/lamb kebab plate 10/10 Vegetarian stew 8/10 - so different but very good. In the sweeter side but reminded us of mole. This is literally some of the best food I have ever eaten.The folks greeted us immediately upon entering and got us seated. They were kind, accommodating and patient with us as we navigated the menu for a cuisine we had not tried before. A beautiful classical music was playing which created a nice atmosphere. We had the beef and herb stew with tah deeg rice, and an order of the chicken breast and lamb/beef kabob with tah deeg rice. It did not disappoint. Food came quickly. When you first enter the restaurant, you are greeted immediately with warm smiles. The restaurant itself isn't that large, perfect for a quiet evening either solo, couple or small party. I received a complimentary starter of cucumbers, tomato and feta. I haven't had this in years back in Orange County. I told the owner (I think he was the owner) that I haven't had authentic Persian (Iranian) food for years. I was torn between the Koobideh and the Ghaimeh. We came here on a weekend evening about 1.5 hours before closing. Before we even sat down, we were informed that they had run out of rice and that we should sit down only if we were okay with that. I asked if they had bread/pita and they nodded, so we sat down. When we all ordered something with pita, they informed us that they didn't have enough bread. They then said that they don't do pita sandwiches on the weekends? I pointed out that the menu didn't say that. She seemed annoyed that we were trying to order pita wraps when we were never told otherwise. Unfortunately, we would have never sat down if we saw that half the menu was rice-based. So they basically wanted to sell us salads for $20-30. We decided we did not want to eat there after being told that they did not have bread, even though I saw plenty in the oven. Not sure I would come back given that they run out of food and are pretty unapologetic about it. Unfortunately someone we know who knows Persian food well told us this place was amazing. It might be unfair to call it a restaurant. I'd prefer to begin saying that I went to a Persian friend's house and they treated me like family. For someone who spends two weeks each month on the road, a great meal and kind humans can make the distance bearable. It's a cozy place with an open kitchen. I was immediately greeted by the owner. I was taken here by a friend who lives in Fresno and was totally delighted and impressed. The atmosphere was not stuffy--it was comfortable and one of the easier restaurants I've been able to converse in. The owner served us personally, but all the staff were pleasant and welcoming. I have had Middle Eastern cuisine before, but never the incredible long-grained Caspian rice with the solid and savory part that forms at the bottom of the pan, and not with some of the other features that made the cuisine uniquely Persian, not just Middle Eastern. We both had lamb shish kebab which was perfectly cooked, and the servings were so generous I took almost half of it home with me (it made great leftovers). I used to live in Fresno but only visit now on occasion. Tah Deeg was not here when I moved away, but I will definitely return when I visit. read more

Tah Deeg is a hidden gem. Some of the best Persian food that I have ever had, in an unsuspecting place. Who knew that Clovis California would host such an amazing restaurant? Not me. This place is worth visiting more than once. We ordered the platter for four people which fed everyone at our table and gave us enough leftovers for the next day. They didn't last longer than the next day, though, because they were delicious. The portion was generous, which was good news because none of us could stop eating. This is one of the few places where I have been able to enjoy authentic varieties of Persian rice. From fava beans and herbs to barberries And a beautiful tah deeg finish. The evening that we dined in person, three staff members had called out. The owner and a couple of chefs were holding down the fort on a busy Friday night. The thing that stood out to me is that, on a 110° day, people were willing to eat outside. Let that sink in. The food was good enough that people (not me... I came in a little bit earlier and got one of the last tables indoors) we're willing to eat outside on Fresno July day during a heat wave nonetheless. The food is just that good. If you do happen to stop by and eat some dinner, make sure to save room for dessert. They have a wonderful ice cream dish that they serve with a very nice cardamom, rose, and pistachio ice cream. Truthfully, the ice cream alone is worth visiting for. This is not the place for a cheap date, but you can get in and out with a party of two for under 100 bucks after tip and tax. I've moved to Fresno about 2 years ago and I remember the first thing I did when I moved here was look for Persian and afghan restaurants and nothing popped up. I was so sad. Recently my friend was in the area and noticed this place and was eager to try it so we and another close friend came in today. The ambiance was cozy and intimate. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The owner, I'm guessing, smiled as soon as he noticed us walk in and welcomed us in. We all got the beef koobideh which is my favorite. I'm not Persian but middle eastern and I will loudly say that Persians win in the kabob territory. It's always flavored nicely and juicy! We ended our night with their rose water and cardamom ice cream paired with baklava/baklawa and sooooo freaking delicious! I'm so happy to know this place exist in Fresno. read more

Really loved this place! I've always seen it at Sierra Vista, but never had the chance to try it out until now. First off, the staff were very nice. They greeted us the moment we came in, gave great recommendations, and checked up on us occasionally. Their cups and pitcher of water were nice and the overall decorations were pretty. Music was pretty nice and it felt very comfortable. Moving on to the food, everybody at the table loved everything. The bread was great, the vegetables were amazing with the feta cheese (sucker for olives), and I'm sure we weren't eating it like a normal Persian would, but I thought the experience was really nice. The Pomegranate stew was amazing! As a Filipino who loves sour foods, it was a great recommendation from the staff. It has a really nice sour, sweet, savory taste to it and the chicken was really soft. It went well with the bread and rice, but I kinda do regret pouring all of it since the flavor was very rich. My friend enjoyed their chicken and completely demolished their meal (that's how you know it was good) and my Indian friend loved their chicken wrap. Overall, a really nice place to go! read more

I was in the area for lunch and wanted visit one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the Clovis area, besides I wanted to say hello to the Owner Abney and see what how he was doing. (another motorcyclists) It wasn't open until noon so I had a very short wait, the place was open so I sat outside and enjoyed the pre 100 temperature that would soon be upon us. I was greeted with smiles from everyone there and I appreciated their friendly hospitality, Abney was especially glad to see me because I had missed him on my other visits. Catch up was heartwarming and only made the luncheon a better experience. I asked him "what should I have?" he thought for a second and asked if I like egg plant...of course I do, of course I do was my reply. So he began to assemble a selection of dishes for me and my short wait began. (See pictures) The appetizer was delicious and the blended hot tea was especially tasty, with fresh hot bread in hand the order of eggplant was quickly eaten and a smile of satisfaction cover my face like the warm rays of sunshine on a cool day. The main dish was delicious and the presentation was a masterpiece, with a cheerful glow I began a flavorful journey across the world to another land, and the destination was sitting on the table before me. I have to point something out, there are no other spices on the table, sale & pepper were not included on the trip, the food is authentic and needed nothing to bolster its flavor. The chicken was most shocking, super authentically flavorful and not dry at all as I would have assumed. The beef/lamb kebab was mouthwateringly yummy. One of the rice had this sweet red berry in it and tasted amazing. If you can't decide what you want and you're dining with one or two other people I suggest this option. If you're looking to try something new, look no further! It's been said that Persian cooking wears its heritage on its sleeve, and rice has a place of honor; this couldn't be more true for this restaurant. The owners of Tah Deeg have hit the bullseye with their food! As soon as I entered the restaurant, I could smell the aromatics of the spices and homemade goodness. I was greeted right away and quickly sat down. Shortly after I sat, I was served their fresh Cucumber salad with homemade flatbread. It is complimentary, and they do this with every guest. Wonderful touch. I ordered their Chelo Khoresh-eh Ghormeh Sabzee (rice with Fresh Herb Stew) with the Tahdig rice - YUM (see pictures)! With its braised beef, assorted fresh herbs, and Persian Key Limes, it did not disappoint. The rice is prepared with a unique, golden buttery crust with saffron. This is traditional Tahdig rice, and it is fantastic! The waiter (unfortunately, I did not get his name) was great and visited me the appropriate amount of time to ask if I needed anything. What did surprise me was before I could share how wonderful everything tasted, he automatically told me that if I did not like the dish, they would remake it or let me try something else. I assured him that I loved the dish. You can tell that they take great pride in their food and want it done to your perfection and standards versus their own.
