Not a Night Market booth anymore; they now have a truck and are popping up around the Lower Mainland. I caught them at the BCIT Food Truck Festival. Their product is HK-style French toast stuffed with mochi and a small selection of flavours. You can get a half (2 pieces) or full (4 pieces) order, and they come with a scoop of ice cream. The menu board said the half was only 1 flavour, but they were customers choose a different flavour for each piece; I chose taro and kaya. The taro had a stronger flavour than the kaya, but both were good. It was a creative and fun dessert with the contrasts of warm toast and cold ice cream, crunchy and fluffy bread filled with gooey mochi and lava-like filling.
The half is $10 which sounds expensive, but it was really good and I honestly don't have regrets. Of course, if you have someone to share with, the full 4-piece flight is a better deal at $14. I think you could even share a half order if you both just want a smaller bite. No tax if you pay in cash.
There were a few people waiting for their orders ahead of me, but the wait wasn't bad, and the people in the truck were friendly. Recommended. read more
