I stopped in shortly after opening and purchased two 9/16" rubber washers for approximately $1. Since I didn't have cash, I used my debit card. The cashier informed me there was a $3 minimum purchase requirement. When I said I did not need anything else, a man I assume was the owner told the cashier to simply add $2 as "labor" to reach the minimum. I found it strange that I was charged an additional $2 for no product or service. Although it was only $2, it was still money taken from my pocket for nothing. After leaving, I recalled that businesses are generally prohibited from imposing minimum purchase requirements on debit card transactions. I called the store to discuss the issue, but the person who answered, whom I believe was the same individual, abruptly hung up. I then returned to the store, where he was waiting near the entrance. When I showed him information regarding the law as it relates to debit card minimums, specifically 15 U.S.C. § 1693o-2 (Durbin Amendment to the Dodd-Frank Act) he responded, "I was the one who hung up on you. I don't care. Have a nice day. Go tell your President." Regardless of the amount involved, what disappointed me most was the attitude and lack of professionalism displayed by the owner. I have always tried to support local businesses, but after this experience, I will not be returning. The $2 isn't the issue. The issue is an owner who apparently believes the rules don't apply to him and treats customers with contempt when they're brought to his attention. I hope the appropriate agencies and card networks share his confidence.

We own apt bldgs and rental property so we have purchased quite a number of appliances from Lowes…read moreas well as our own home through the years. The end of May our 25 yr old Sears Kenmore Frig freezer went out so we purchased a $2,000 GE frig from Lowes. We noticed after a few weeks it was running a lot and making an odd sound but everything seemed to cool ok. Then a few wks after that I went to get ice cream out of the freezer and it was completely melted along with half frozen meats. We were promptly told since it had been more than 30 days (technically 34 days) since our purchase we needed to call tge GE manufacturer customer service. Lowes clearly wanted no part of the problem. Since then we have had 2 service calls and a number of discussion with GE customer service because all of our frozen foods have thawed a number of times. The first time they said it was a Freon leak and compressor but when they actually came back to fix it they said it was a filter AND Freon problem in the freezer. Second our food thawed we were told it is a sensor that starts the freezing process then to save energy periodically decreases the temperature. We asked for a new frig but GE said NO! They have to have more than one or two service calls to warrant a return! We will NEVER buy another item at Lowes!!. They should be ashamed to not take some responsibility or make an effort to contact their GE representative. Is this what it has come to that a $2,000 item is such a piece of junk and falls apart after a month?! The service person told us today this has become VERY common with GE, Samsung, and other companies. What the hell?!!
