But instead of taking a shred of accountability, you decided to take... another route entirely. Bold strategy. Truly top-tier customer service right there. And as a delightful little bonus, let's not forget that you're still casually breaking federal law. Charging a minimum on debit card transactions violates the Dodd-Frank Act, but hey--why let legal compliance get in the way of a stellar customer experience?

Have lived in Huntley and been a patron of this Ace for 28 years…read more While I have seen an ebb and flow with quality of service, overall it has been good. One has to remember it is the convenience store of hardware, and the prices reflect that fact. Expect to pay full retail, sometimes plus 50%. With that in mind, I seldom leave there without what I came in for - even if it seems I often take their last one. This is why you pay more here, they really must have a challenge keeping up with the one off items on the shelf. Sometimes I find the staff helpful, especially to find something, but being in the trades for 38 years I really don't expect a kid making minimum to answer... pretty much anything. The older guy that works there had a pretty good knowledge base though. The lunacy during COVID (rushing up to me to mask, said it was "mandated" which at the time was inaccurate - nobody else in the store, invaded my 6' space to be an ass) did not miss this store, which almost made me never come back - but I got over that and am again in the store a couple times a week.

Ed remembers just about everyone's name, and he can recollect all your household projects for years to come as he asks how they turned out or are holding up. The first omen was seeing a man with no mask on. There is a state requirement about masks.. If you are going to post signs about wearing a mask, enforce it! No one was at the paint department, so the woman at the check-out register announced on the P.A. for assistance at the paint department. After waiting 10 minutes, I left. And the store was not busy at all! I had planned to buy the items on my long list while the paint was being mixed. I doubt if I'll go back. This used to be one of my favorite stores. It seemed like there were always friendly, usually older, men ready to assist or answer any questions. It's changed. And not for the better.
