We own apt bldgs and rental property so we have purchased quite a number of appliances from Lowes as well as our own home through the years. The end of May our 25 yr old Sears Kenmore Frig freezer went out so we purchased a $2,000 GE frig from Lowes. We noticed after a few weeks it was running a lot and making an odd sound but everything seemed to cool ok. Then a few wks after that I went to get ice cream out of the freezer and it was completely melted along with half frozen meats. We were promptly told since it had been more than 30 days (technically 34 days) since our purchase we needed to call tge GE manufacturer customer service. Lowes clearly wanted no part of the problem. Since then we have had 2 service calls and a number of discussion with GE customer service because all of our frozen foods have thawed a number of times. The first time they said it was a Freon leak and compressor but when they actually came back to fix it they said it was a filter AND Freon problem in the freezer. Second our food thawed we were told it is a sensor that starts the freezing process then to save energy periodically decreases the temperature. We asked for a new frig but GE said NO! They have to have more than one or two service calls to warrant a return! We will NEVER buy another item at Lowes!!. They should be ashamed to not take some responsibility or make an effort to contact their GE representative. Is this what it has come to that a $2,000 item is such a piece of junk and falls apart after a month?! The service person told us today this has become VERY common with GE, Samsung, and other companies. What the hell?!! read more

I visited Lowe's on 12/26/25 during the tail end of their Christmas sales. The store had signage and displays indicating 75% off Christmas decorations, but when I attempted to purchase several items, the store refused to honor what was clearly being advertised as store deals. Unfortunately, the most disappointing part of the experience was the interaction with the store manager, Steve Mackey. Rather than helping clarify the pricing or de-escalate the situation, he was extremely rude and combative. The conversation felt less about resolving a customer concern and more about asserting authority. The overall impression was unprofessional and unnecessarily confrontational, which only escalated what could have been a simple discussion. That said, I do want to acknowledge one male employee who was restocking merchandise at the time. He was calm, respectful, and genuinely tried to advocate for Lowe's by assisting and explaining what he could. He represented the type of customer service that would normally make me want to continue shopping at this store. I would strongly recommend that corporate leadership consider providing Steve Mackey with additional training in professionalism, customer service, and de-escalation techniques. Leadership sets the tone for the entire store, and this experience did not reflect well on the Dekalb, IL Lowe's brand especially during a busy holiday sales period. I hope Lowe's takes feedback like this seriously, as there are clearly employees here who understand and value good customer service. read more

Prices are purposely marked wrong. Example, backer board was priced at 25 dollars, got to the register and it was actually 57. If it had been just the one I could have accepted it was a mistake, but it also happened with the products I tried to exchange the backer board for. No indication in store that the price wasnt accurate (like sale lasts for this date range or anything). When escalated we were told they won't honor the listed price cause "company policy". I've been frustrated. We ordered three black stainless steel appliances with the 40% off Memorial sale and I've only received the stove thus far. The first delivery- refrigerator and dishwasher was the wrong color, the only thing that was right was the stove. Second delivery which was today, no dishwasher on the truck- I called Lowes and they said "oh it's in stock, I don't know why it's not on the truck." And the refrigerator- it was the right color this time however the doors were installed on the wrong side: we wanted the hinges on the left so it would open from the right side for better access. Lowes said they would call me back tonight. No calls at all since 11am and it's almost 10:30pm. I'm frustrated since I already paid for the appliances and I don't have them. What a joke- don't order appliances from this Lowes in Sycamore. Now the third delivery. I got my refrigerator but the dishwasher was the wrong color. and now they're saying it's backordered till August. I'm so frustrated. They haven't offered me anything but an weak "I'm sor Update: We finally got the refrigerator however the wheels fell off of the refrigerator after the delivery guy left. Not that's really poor customer service. Changed their return policy during a pandemic and stuck me $100 of tile. During a friggin' pandemic? Really? They said it was on the back of the receipt, but there is no back for online purchases. The 20 something Mgr. points to a tiny print sign way up high and back from the customer service desk. Which I can't see from home. Which I can't read with my brand new glasses. Maybe if I had an hour. So this is how you treat customers when I've spent $35-40k there in the past 13 years. Rip off your own customers?! Make policies retroactive and secret?! During a pandemic? SHAME ON YOU! We all have other places we can shop. That is where you'll find me, NOT at lowes, but Menards, Home Depot, Places with good customer service. You cost me money, It's going to cost you. Oops, bad marketing strategy. A employee in the store was rude to me almost yelling at me. He has no patience at all he works at the tools department also this wasn't the first time he was rude to me it's the 25th time. At least there was another employee next him she was just the nicest person and helped me find what I was looking for. But I will never come back here ever again after that incident. I'll be going to Home Depot from now on until lowe's fix this problem with their rude employees I am done being treated very rude every time when I'm in this store. I just recently moved here from a big east coast city. This lowes is the best one I have ever been in! They are (seemingly) well staffed and very helpful. We just bought a house so we are doing a lot of projects, painting being my main focus right now. Cece in paint is absolutely the best! Always helpful, available, cheerful and very knowledgeable! Lowe's, instill some responsibility of your store managers to pay attention to customer needs. For example, opening up an additional check out lane when the single open check out is backed up. Customers ask employees for an extra lane, to which they respond that managers must decide that. This being the same manager sitting in the small office paying no attention to what is going on. This growing trend DOES affect my return visits or lack thereof. There are other options in town. This place seems to have taken a nose dive. 7/6/15 still a pretty sucky customer experience. Yes Ms irritated-looking cashier I would have liked a bag to help get the multitude of items I purchased to my car without dropping them. Except while you were staring into outer space as the credit ran and while I started picking up all this stuff....I guess the bagging is self service now. read more

I really hate doing this, however, I am extremely unhappy with the delivery service for Lowe's. We purchased a refrigerator and removable of old appliance on Thursday, 11/29. Was told delivery was full for Friday, however, could deliver Saturday. Saturday call stated would be delivered Sunday afternoon. Saturday evening at about 9:00, received call stating they were too full and to contact store to set up new delivery. Contacted store Sunday am and was told fridge was out for delivery. We had already changed plans since I was told it would NOT be delivered Sunday. Soonest it could be delivered would be Tuesday a.m. requested a morning delivery again as my husband is a second shift worker and needs to be here. Monday evening call stated delivery would be in afternoon Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon call stated delivery would be 5:30-9:30 p.m. two subsequent calls from driver and eventually stated would have to push over to Wednesday morning (today). Contacted store this morning and store stated it would be Thursday unknown time as of yet. My understanding is that DeKalb/Sycamore area is delivered first in the day and outlying areas later. I feel as though I was put off more than once and should be put first for the next delivery day. If I am always last on their route, will I ever get my fridge? It may be free delivery but I have found out I would rather pay for delivery with another store and actually receive my item purchased when it is scheduled. If it is not delivered tomorrow morning, I may ask for a return and purchase the fridge elsewhere as numerous other local stores carry the same line. Might I say I have heard the same delivery complaints from others and think it is probably time for Lowe's to investigate a better delivery system! read more

Lousy return on an item that was ordered - they sent the wrong item. Once we noticed the (THEIR) mistake it was beyond the 90 day return period. So instead of fix the problem, they offer store credit instead of replacing the item with the correct one (we never wanted the money, just the item in order to complete our project). I'd give zero if possible. I only come here when I absolutely have to. In general this store has Poor customer service in all areas of the store and disinterested cashiers. One other comment. I was replacing all the windows in my home over several years, I ordered my first window from this Lowe's store in 2012 and because I didn't want to change brands mid-project I had to order all subsequent windows from them. The last windows were ordered in 2016. Out of 12 windows 10 of them had broken screens and several had cracked sashes. I'm convinced that the guys back in the loading dock are trying to break things. read more

I swear the employees at this store "run away from, do not walk" when they see a customer in their vicinity. No one to ask where things are located. After traipsing through the store, I finally have to go to customer service where 3 people are helping one person, only to be told the item I'm looking for is way back on the back wall of the garden department. Wasn't gonna push the cart back there again. Was easier to leave the cart, go to Menard's, and pick up a bag of fertilizer right at the front door. Management needs to oversee its employees. I bought a refrigerator from Lowe's. My phone number was incorrect for the third-party moving company who deliver the refrigerator so they came to my house twice without me knowing and did not put the fridge where they were supposed to they also dented the door when they were moving it. I called and spoke with one of the managers in appliance at Lowe's Roxie And she was extremely helpful her customer service is top notch she helped me replace the refrigerator and ensured delivery the next week. It seemed like a nice Lowe's and it had everything you could dream of. I did find that they were heavily off-priced compared to the Lowe's in St. Charles or Lake in the Hills. I am not sure why they were more expensive. I have to rate this store at a two-star, because an employee asked my wife "Do you need any help, sir?" Today was a big thumbs down for Lowe's DeKalb. I was scheduled to receive three appliances today and they forgot one. When I called to have it rescheduled I asked the manager, Chris, to include installation on the one item. He would not budge telling me they are the only store around who delivers for free and these things happen. Now not only do I have to make time for another delivery I can either pay for installation, granted at cost($92!), or I have to ask my friend come back to install. I understand these things happen however I shouldn't be inconvenienced more for your mistake. read more

Wish I could give Lowe's no stars .I purchased a Maytag washer and dryer from Lowe's bought the extended warrant for both in the first year of owning the washing machine that there employee assured me was a great and reliable product the mother board went out twice the repair company is horrible . Doesn't even show up now my washing machine is not cleaning my close and takes 2 and a half hours to wash a load made an appointment for service I took off work and they didn't even show up and the dryer I purchased does not turn off ran for 8 hour while I was at work I'm pretty sure that that's a fire hazards .I will be going to Paulsons appliance store in sycamore will shop local family stores in the future in the long run you spend more money at Lowe's because their appliances break immediately after you buy them and the company they use to repair them does a horrible job when they show up that is this lesson cost me over 1300 dollars learn from my mistakes please and don't shop at Lowe's read more

In Jan. 2013 I bought a nice refrigerator, stainless front. In Aug. 2014 (19 mo. old) I noticed the bottom freezer was pitting on the outside. Lowe's said the door is not a part. It is a accessory. (Something nonessential but useful). I have the 5 year extended protection plan. Not covered. Reading this I think it should be. : How does an Extended Protection Plan differ from a manufacturer's warranty? A manufacturer typically only covers defects in materials and workmanship. An EPP does this plus protects against power surges, environmental factors, such as heat, dust and humidity, and failures caused by normal wear and tear. . read more

Ordered a microwave from the store and was called and told that it was in and they would deliver on Thursday. I asked to wait until Monday as I was going to be out of town. I decided on Sunday to go and pick it up at the store and they indicated that it had not yet arrived? I asked them to find out when to expect it and have the store manager call me back on Monday. I three hours latter receive a call from a person saying that they are going to deliver Monday am between 8 am - 10 am. Great they resolved the issue...FALSE no one shows and worse no one calls. I called the store manager a few days latter to be told that it would be another month before they expected it to arrive. Fail! Fail! Flooring installation was poorly managed from point of sale through installation. Shorted the material order that was delivered and the missing product had to be ordered form the manufacturer. On Friday, the 13th, I ordered some lumber to be delivered. The cashier didn't know how to write up the order or how to properly code it. At least she called for assistance. Though the other person she spoke to also didn't know. I had a bad feeling about this. On Monday I called to check on the delivery date. Talk about a screw up! The cashier had coded the order that I had picked up part of the lumber and that the rest was to be delivered. I spent ten minutes explaining to the rep that I did not take any part of my order with me on the 13th. The rep explained that the order had been improperly coded and they would straighten it out. I was assured that my order would be delivered on Saturday. I received a robo call on Friday evening that my order would be delivered sometime between 1 and 3 pm. On Saturday I received a phone call from their delivery service explaining that they would be here in 40 minutes. An hour and 15 minutes later delivery they showed up. With the wrong order! I refused the delivery and promptly went to the DeKalb Lowes. I asked to speak to a manager. The day time manager showed up. A guy named Todd. I again explained the situation about my order. He politely listened and explained that he would personally deliver my lumber order after he got off work at 3 pm. He made a copy of my receipt and I gave him the phone number to call and the address. Guess what?. Todd never showed up. No phone call. Later that afternoon I got a phone called from Lowes wanting to reschedule the delivery. Terrible customer service. There appears to be a break down of communication within the store system. No one there wants to accept responsibility. I will be going to Menards from now on. read more

We had a new double oven/stove delivered in January and unfortunately the delivery people damaged our flooring. After a lot of calls and an attempted repair, it is still not fixed. Lowe's blames the delivery company, even though the order said it would be delivered on their truck. No one has offered a resolution or help to restore the floor. They keep asking for us to find the repair people, when they are a flooring store. Because they thought it would a cheap fix, the delivery company sent a handyman and ended up doing more damage. Both Lowe's and the subcontracted company have failed to get this taken care of in an appropriate time frame. We are sick and tired of all of the run around. What started as an update of our appliances has turned into a nightmare. 3 missed days of work, having multiple people in our home, moving and disconnecting the stove and not being able to use it for 2 days. At this point it seems like they are hoping we just give up and go away. Perhaps that was the plan all along. read more
