TOASTED... what can I say... I can start by saying that I was thinking of knocking off a star for price but then I realized that would be just plain dick-ish since the portions were amazing. 5 freakin stars all the way. Sorry to say my partner and I don't seem to share a palate with Toasted's admirers. I had the gouda as it gets and my partner the classic burger, we shared an order of rosemary fries (more on that to come). The gouda did not have much taste and immediately reminded me of a Costco chicken bake with a tiiiiiiny bit of vegetables in one section. It would have been better had the peppers and spinach been even across the sandwich because they were the best part. For the burger. I tend to think people who eat burgers can be of two kinds: those who season the beef and those who (if at all) only use lite salt and pepper. The people of Toasted are of the first variety, and believe me when I tell you that the patty by itself (which I tasted because my partner couldn't tell if there was something wrong with the meat) tasted really nasty, like I had mistakenly eaten something that was never meant to be food. The bun and condiments were great though, except the onions, which were thick enough to use as fake teeth (if you're into that sort of thing, we just toss them to the side). Now the fries themselves are so nice, they must make them fresh and they would have been great I'm sure if we'd only gotten them salted. The rosemary truffle oil is a terrible combination, it smells and tastes like I should just take it home and cleanse my house with it, just too much and a bad combination. If you're looking for some good old fashioned comfort food, Toasted is the place for you! This place won't change the world, but that's not the point. The point is that a grilled cheese sandwich that goes above and beyond what you're used to making at home can put your mind at ease and chase your troubles away for a bit. Pulled brisket: this is my favorite sandwich here. The brisket is very moist, and the sharp fontina cheese complements it well. They also include onions sautéed and caramelized with sweet tea, and yes, it's as good as it sounds. The sauce that comes with it holds a good sweet/smoky balance. Chicken pesto with tomato chutney: this is a classic sandwich that has chicken made with pesto sauce, topped with a savory tomato chutney that doesn't overpower it. Rosemary truffle fries: these fries are some of my favorite in town, and they're a great side with the sandwiches! The truffle isn't too strong, and the rosemary gives it an earthy feel. The fries are salty and skinny and crispy, just the way I like them. What holds me back from giving this five stars is the lack of originality and adventurousness in the menu. I'm glad this place does classic sandwiches with little twists well, especially with its super affordable price point. However, with all of the cheeses out there, and the flavor combinations you can use with the diversity of cheeses could put this place over the top. I'd like to see this place experiment a little more with different cheeses besides the ones they have now. I do like this place, though. I got the BBQ Mac and cheese burger. I forgot the original name because it was just ok. The sour dough bun isn't a good choice for a burger because when it gets soggy it gets hard. My gf only ate half her burger as well. I drove 40 minutes to this place and it's just ok. Fries were good too. If you are hungry for a burger or something with cheese and you are in the area you'll be delighted but if you have to drive a while and looking to have an incredible experience, this isn't the place. I was lucky to go on a one of those rare Florida rainy days. It was the perfect day for grilled cheese and soup and I was so happy that I wasn't disappointed. The restaurant wasn't that busy and everyone there was really friendly. I opted for the buffalo chicken grilled cheese. It was the perfect mix of chicken to cheese and wasn't too spicy of a buffalo flavor. The soup itself was perfect for tomato soup. I'm normally not a tomato soup fan but this was the perfect compliment to the sandwich. I love that they also sell dipping sizes so you don't have to commit to a whole bowl. This is a really cute place with some interesting cheese themed decorations. The seating area is ok and should be big enough unless they get really busy. I've tried the Street Taco and Pesto Chicken sandwiches along with the rosemary fries. Both sandwiches were pretty good but for me nothing memorable. The Rosemary fries were actually really good and a nice change from the usual plain fries that most of us eat. I would like to go back and try the Braised Brisket and As Gouda As It Gets sandwiches. The last one I had, the Impossible Burger, was very dry. I've heard of Toasted before and was in the area, so I decided to pick some up. It was rather small inside, however, they offer outside seating. This I love, because I usually bring my pup with me when there is Pet Friendly seating areas. The inside had cute decor- periodic table of cheese? Genius! Another focal point I enjoyed was the 3D Cheese wall. It mimicked Swiss Cheese with all the holes. I myself if a HUGE cheese lover, so this place seemed right up my alley. I went in on Sunday morning, so I decided to turn my grilled cheese into a breakfast sandwich. At Toasted, you can add bacon or a fried egg to any sandwich. I added both. Another aspect I appreciated about this restaurant, is that they serve their sandwiches on locally sourced artisan breads and try to outsource local, fresh ingredients whenever possible. I decided to try one of their Signature Items- the Truffle Melt. I must say there were so many appetizing sandwiches, it was difficult to choose! The Truffle Melt has Havarti Cheese, Truffle Oil, Arugula, and Fresh Ground Pepper. The sandwich itself was pleasing, the only gripe I would have, was that it was a little lacking in flavor. Very good, but I feel some spices or herbs could have enhanced it. Maybe a little more of that Fresh Ground Pepper was in order. Overall, this did not discourage me from wanting to try other items at Toasted. There is a Fig and Goat Sandwich that sounds intriguing -being that I absolutely adore goat cheese. Also, I grew up on Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup. I found out after visiting Toasted, that they offer their Tomato Soup in a "dipper size" for your sandwich, so you don't have to purchase a large cup. I'm very interested in going back and exploring some other items on their menu. If you're into Grilled Cheese, I recommend checking out Toasted. It was soggy, toasted very lightly and like another reviewer stated there were about 2 small arugula leaves. I didn't even see or taste any pepper. Not that pepper was going to do much for this mess. My friend and i were supposedly on our way to shake shack, but little did i know i accidentally put in the directions for toasted rather than shake shack. It was a blessing in disguise. We both got the southern comfort. It blew me away. I got mine topped with a sunny side egg on top. I broke the yolk so that it would drench the rest of the burger. Not only is their grilled sandwiches but also burgers and salads along with fries or soup sides. A great option they offer is gluten free items as this makes it great for me to invite my friends who are gluten intolerance but can still enjoy one of the sandwich selections. The look you get coming in looks as if they are in Lego land with all the dots but it transfer you into a cheese slice. The one thing I do like most is the cheese periodic table that has all cheeses from different countries that I did not know or try ever.
