Their food is terrible, and warning people how bad it is does not rise to the level of legal actions. However, it does sour public opinion against your business. Any chance we would have given them a second chance is now completely out of the question. And for those that don't know, "Anti-SLAPP laws are intended to prevent people from using courts, and potential threats of a lawsuit, to intimidate people who are exercising their First Amendment rights. In terms of reporting, news organizations and individual journalists can use anti-SLAPP statutes to protect themselves from the financial threat of a groundless defamation case brought by a subject of an enterprise or investigative story." This action is textbook SLAPP behavior and needs to be addressed as such. read more

Cozy intimate cafe style restaurant seating. Great customer service provided by Trey from start to finish. He made the experience worth it and had it been for his customer service alone I would return. Establishment is very clean and food was plated well. We ordered a mango passion fruit mimosa tower which came frozen in a carnival/fair style frozen drink pitcher. The pour was very messy and approximately 1/4 of the drink ended up on the table due to trying to pour it. The mimosa was fair priced and they do have a lot of great drink options. We ordered a variety of things so we could do a solid review. Items ordered: chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, The Ce La Vie burger and the Number 1 Pasta We also ordered a side of 5 wings. The number 1 pasta was flavorful, Grits were watery and could stand to be thickened, shrimp and grits gravy was a little bland and could have used some additional seasoning. It didn't appear there were many shrimp on the dish however after sorting through all of the grits there were a good bit in the dish. The waffle was delicious for the chicken and waffles however the chicken breast was on the dry side, this was also the chicken on the Ce LA Vie it was dry also. The ice cream for the chicken and waffles came out melted and refrozen it appear but it was ok because I didn't expect ice cream with the dish so I just ate the cool whip and berry toppings that came with it. The Ce La Vie burger was massive in size and a great portion for the price. I would order this again however I'd ask for the burger to be medium as it was dry as well as the chicken breast that was on it. It was also drizzled with chocolate on top. I was nervous about that but it worked well. The side of 5 wings came out as something recognizable resembling fried chicken gizzards but pieces of it had a bone. The server said these came out really small but the chef said he'd just give you what he had. We had to ask what it was because we were in disbelief that this was sent to the table. They somehow found 5 wings in the back which were very small in size. I wouldn't order wings here. If I had to return I would return to drink only but I feel like a return customer is a return customer regardless of why they return. I reiterate the customer from Trey was great. He went and grabbed us a cake stand, poured our mimosa, sang happy birthday to my mom by getting the whole restaurant involved. He was kind. We went to Toaste on Broad St. in Augusta, GA. What a great experience! The food was great, our server, Bre, was excellent and the atmosphere was amazing. While they talked about the Martinez location, it was our understanding it is not open yet. I could not add a review for the Broad St. location but would highly recommend for brunch (served all day) and the lunch menu looked great. I'm not sure how new this "brunch" restaurant is, but.. this was definitely by far the worst when it comes to small business. For this to be such a small venue, you would think that the service would be top of the line because of how close of proximity you are to the customers. Close to where you should be engaging and making friendly customer relations for future business. So let's begin with my experience: -At the entrance, hostess did not carry herself with a welcoming personality. Seemed unapproachable. Also, I want to point out the sign at the entrance where the host booth is.. it's a dress code list. However, the waiters, waitresses, hostess are not held to that dress code standard of professionalism. -The customer service once we were seated was mediocre.. the same kind of customer service you get when you are in a drive-thru at Taco Bell. Starts you off friendly, but skies forbid you ask for an extra straw and the attitude will commence. -Do not order the chicken & waffles. Unless you like the individually prepackaged Belgian waffles from Costco & salty fried chicken from your old hometowns gas station then go ahead and order you some. The fruit in a cup that it came with.. it was sour and tasted like it was already sitting in that small bowl for more than 2 weeks. It did have some white powder sprinkled on top, I had a strong feeling that it was baking soda and that was what caused it to taste sour. There's a difference between unripe flavor and days old sour flavor. So understand that I know the difference. -The omelet.... where do I even begin? The inside of the omelet was super runny. The toppings weren't even inside. All the toppings were piled up into a mountain sitting on top of the thin egg sheet. I don't believe they know what an omelette is. At the very least, make it more presentable. The toppings just made it very unappetizing. When the waitress was notified by my party that their omelet was unsatisfactory, instead of offering a solution, the waitress made a very salty remark that the kitchen was closed and unfortunately they were no longer able to order anything else. For extra context, my friend was the last one to receive her food and after having sat there for over 40 minutes, she didn't eat anything at all. -I do want to say.. the winner plate of all the food was the side of fries. I'd give the fries a full 10/10. -Everything else 1.5/10 the 1.5 being for drinks. Nothing other than the fries and drinks picture worthy. I have finally made my way to Toaste. Long overdue since I've heard raving reviews about the food and service from around the town. The service: We were greeted by a polite young lady that asked if we had reservations. We did not, so she politely advised that we do make in the future. A quick surveillance of the dining area before being seated found that there were only 2 couples seated at their tables. huh ok noted. Another young lady took our drink orders and asked if we had questions about the menu. We received our water fairly quick and then ordered. The waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and even made some suggestions. Food: The shrimps and grits were okay. The gravy or sauce was very tasty. It's what really made the dish. However, for $25 I expected much bigger sized shrimps. I thought the shrimp was overcooked. That can easily happen with it being so small. The grits were very creamy and good, but it was too much for the amount of shrimp it came with. I barely ate half of it. The French toast was overly buttered and soft. 1 small toast for $4 too pricey. Might have been forgiven if they offered at least maple syrup or honey instead of regular syrup. Overall, It did not meet up to expectation. A chair at our table was dirty and you can see the cook sitting down at a open door in the dining area cooking. Took awhile to figure out what to order between two menus.. she ordered salmon cake club and I tried to order the build your own breakfast, which is not offered on weekends. I then ordered eggs Benedict with grits. Benedict was good but no hollandaise. Grits were bland-tasted like instant white corn grits. The salmon cake had great flavor but was impossible to eat like a sandwich because of sauce on outside of burger bun. The salmon cake did not have salmon. After hearing so much great things about this place we were finally able to go try it out when we had family visit for a weekend trip. I absolutely love brunch so I was excited to try this place. We arrived early afternoon and were happy that we didn't have to wait long and got a table right away without a reservation. I must say the moment we entered and were greeted by the host and felt kind of an off vibe, she could have been having a bad day but she wasn't smiling or upbeat, she did our temp checks and hand sanitizer stuff which we were cool with then seated. It took a while for our drink order to be taken then another while to actually place our orders we were not recommended anything. We had to ask multiple times for things like straws and utensils as well. Yet, when the food finally arrived it was DELICIOUS! We all enjoyed our meals and portion sizes. The restaurant is lovely with nice decor I would probably recommend nicer chairs and the water in the vases on each table to be cleaned out. Other than that it was all ok in my opinion. I will try again soon and hope for an EXCEPTIONAL time! You know it's hard at times most people can't get out a lot, they are over worked and stressed and have crazy lives, when we finally can get out to enjoy family time we want a happy experience. I really, really wanted our Mother's Day brunch to be a 5 star experience. I wish I could say it was. I'm happy to say it wasn't all bad, but it certainly wasn't all good. To start off, when we got to the restaurant they didn't have our reservation. They were apologetic and managed to sit us at two big round wedding reception type tables on the front sidewalk in front of the restaurant. The arrangement was far from ideal and made it hard to interact comfortably. Added to this, the noise from the nearby traffic made conversation difficult. As for the food, it was hit and miss - more miss than hit. Five of us ordered the Sweet & Salty (waffle/eggs/sausage/bacon), two ordered the French toast with eggs and ham, and one ordered the chicken & waffles. The orders came out very piecemeal. The French toast came out first, but it took 5-10 minutes to get the eggs and ham to go with it. The Sweet & Salty dishes came out next (not all together though) and lastly (at least 15-20 minutes later) my son's chicken & waffles. No one wanted to eat ahead of others, but the first served could have finished before the last even got their meals. I wish I could say that the quality of the dishes made up for the way it was delivered to us. It did not. I had one of the French toast meals, and I DID like the French toast, however the scrambled eggs were runny (to a fault) and completely unseasoned. We asked for S&P which helped a bit but the pepper grinder had a sticky substance on it so I chose not to use it. I ended up just not eating them. The ham looked like deli thin packaged slices, browned in a pan. My grandson said the bacon was very good (YAY). As for the waffles, some looked like Belgian waffles, but others were small, bland and truthfully looked like Eggo waffles. They must have two different waffle makers. They need to spring for a second Belgian waffle maker. When he finally got it, the chicken on my son's chicken & waffles was so dry he only ate a couple bites. The coffee that two of us ordered didn't come out until half way through the meal and then the requested sugar and cream came out 5 -10 minutes later. The sweet tea was good, but it tasted like it was flavored (maybe raspberry) which was fine, but was not what was ordered. The waitstaff were very kind and seemed to be trying hard. I felt sorry for them. I'm not sure where the problem lies. I think this establishment does catering and I assume they do well at it. The portion sizes were pretty generous, but I felt the prices were too high ($25-30 per entree), especially given the quality of the food. I'd like to say I'll give them another try, but it's really doubtful. We chose not to try and address the problems with management as there were just too many different things, and, being it was a busy Mother's Day, we didn't feel like we'd be successful in doing so.
