First time checking out this place with my friend Alberto.

Walking in was kind of weird. The restaurant has a small entry room heavily decorated with Mexican art and a sign showing how to make beans. After opening the 2nd door a very loud chime rings in your ear. Alarm in the staff than a new guest Has walked in. You would think someone would say hello. But, no one did. The decor is very heavy and colorful. I Loved the decorations. It was a mix of Cinco De Mayo and Christmas all in one. I only wish they had loud music to match rather than the TV. I love American Ninja Warrior. But, I love music while I eat even more. The menu was great and easy to read. The food as very good and different then the Typical Mexican food and menu in Corpus Christi. I was very surprised my it. I love shredded chicken and shredded beef. It was very flavorful and everything was very fresh. During our meal the waiter stopped by only once. He did not bring us our bill. Finally we just walked up near the area where I saw a lady picking up to go order. That lead me to believe that that's where we pay. No one ever stopped by to ask us if we wanted anything else or the bill. All in all the food was very good. I was like eating at my Aunt's house. The loud decorations and TV blaring in the background made it feel even more like a home.

Honestly THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD IVE EVER HAD! This place is amazing. Me and my husband love all the food. We normally try something different every time and we are NEVER disappointed!!!! The chips and ranchero salsa are AMAZING and their green avocado hot sauce is MY FAVORITE! I can't express how much I love this place. It makes it very hard to diet when i constantly crave their food

#30 Mexican cravings plate. Flauta, Mexican quesadilla & sope, rice & beans

Very colorfully decorated with both tables and booths. Walked in with no one to greet so we just chose a booth. He came out after we sat down then it was good service through the rest of the meal. Not Tex-Mex, different but good. Super large tortilla chips with Ranchero sauce for appetizer. The charro beans were delicious! I had the Mexican Cravings platter #30, and it was good with two items I had never had before, a Mexican quesadilla, very different from the quesadillas I'm used to and a sobe. The sobe was a little fried flour tortilla with chicken, salad and avocado in it. Pay at the little window after eating. Cute little tables set up for children.

Visit 3: got breakfast thru the drive thru, chilaquiles with egg mixed in, no salsa ranchera They made the corn tortilla chips very soggy and there were ONIONS which I do not like and which was not disclosed, only ate a quarter or the top layer of the plate. Visit 4: was sick with vomiting so got tortilla soup. Chicken was cooked but not tenderized. I liked the one from Cancun's better. Visit 5: brought hubby here. He commented that carne guisada was overcooked, I tasted and agreed. I put this place to the true test by ordering menudo... and they failed. Menudo tasted like they didn't wash tripas after parboiling them. Each bite was initially good follow up by an uncomfortable, dirty aftertaste. My verdict: not bad, just mid. Maybe some issues with quality control. I'll be back to try the seafood though.

As a vegan, that made me excited because actual Mexican food usually has less cheese and can be made vegan. The business is quaint. There was a friendly hostess to welcome us in and our server was very hospitable. We ordered the chile relleno without cheese, zucchini in pasilla pepper sauce, and mole verde off the vegetarian options on the menu. We also enjoyed guacamole and chips. Our server was happy to accommodate our vegan modifications and it was really easy to communicate with him. The flavors are just WOW! Hands down the best guacamole of my life. The sauces are vibrant and rich. Everything tasted so fresh. And the prices for this quality of food cannot be beat. My husband and I literally licked sauce off the plates to make sure we did not miss one ounce of that authentic Mexican flavor. This place is top of our list of businesses to visit next time we are in town visiting family. We had an incredible experience and cannot wait to continue to explore the vegetarian menu options.

I'm not a professional food critic, but I do know seasoning, regional Mexican flavors, and what well‑prepared food should taste like -- and this just wasn't it for us. The restaurant didn't feel well-kept, and it appeared that only one server and one cook were working, plus we and another couple were the only ones there. We were served chips and salsa to start. The salsa, a taquera‑style orange sauce, was actually the best part of the meal. The chips, however, were extremely hard, not fresh, and definitely not warm. They looked house‑made, but whatever they were fried in made them almost inedible. I ordered the ribeye street tacos, and the steak was overcooked, had an odd taste, and wasn't enjoyable. I asked for extra cilantro and onions, which didn't happen, and the chimichurri they brought out was basically oil with a few seasonings floating in it. I almost complimented the Dr Pepper because it had a unique sweetness -- until I realized why. The red glass had visible staining on the inside. When I wiped the rim with my napkin, it came off dirty. They also don't offer straws, so whatever residue was in that glass is what you end up drinking. Between the food quality, the cleanliness concerns, and the overall condition of the restaurant, this was a no for us. How this place has earned such high mentions is honestly beyond me.

The most authentic flavor item in my lunch was the refried beans that look like poop at first sight. Rice was bland with cumin flavor and the mole was the most disappointing. Might as well have called them regular enchiladas, the flavor was basic taco mix with a tiny taste of mole. Just a thick cumin or comino paste. Enchiladas should be dripping with sauce in the inside. These were dry tortillas that were barely garnished with sauce on top. The chicken inside was very flavorul but dry. Then the 16 oz lemonade was 4$ and it was super sour ! I never leave reviews. But this was truly disappointing.

I've never had them served this way but was not disappointed. No horseradish served here, fyi. We also got queso fundido which was delicious- portion seemed small but made three full tacos. Our waiter had to be called for everything, we didn't even get silverware or napkins. When we called we got bar napkins while every other guest had proper utensils. Overall, great experience, I'd go back and sit at the bar next time.

Naturally, I had to check it out--and let me tell you, this place absolutely lives up to the hype. I ordered the fish and shrimp dinner, and every bite was incredible. The seasoning on the rice, fish, and shrimp was spot-on, and the tortillas had that perfect, slightly charred finish that takes everything up a notch. Even the drink portions were generous--huge cups, which I appreciated. Service was friendly, the prices were very reasonable, and the overall experience was exactly what I was hoping for. I'm 100% coming back. Without a doubt, this is the best Mexican spot in Corpus Christi. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic, delicious meal, with a family friendly ambience.
