My aunt has Celiac disease, so she can't have anything with Gluten in it. I came onto Yelp looking for a baker/bakery that has "gluten-free" goodies to take with me to Easter dinner and discovered TO BAKE & BE (based on the 5-star reviews). I ordered the banana nut loaf and the blueberry yogurt muffins, and they were both delicious. Not having Celiac disease myself, I'm no expert on what gluten-free should taste like but these were fantastic and I couldn't tell the difference between the regular and these. The BANANA NUT LOAF was moist and had that great banana-taste and the slices were pretty thick. The BLUEBERRY YOGURT MUFFINS, likewise, are moist and melt in your mouth with a burst of yummy blueberries toward the bottom (I kept these for myself, LOL). Valerie was very nice and delivered on Easter Sunday, which was a plus. I had her deliver to my place since I was driving to my uncle's house in Newport Beach. She also threw in some slices of Carrot Cake to sample (I haven't tried those yet but I'm sure they're just as good) another plus-plus. Here's some tips on how to order etc.: go to the TO BAKE & BE website where you can see the menu of the different items offered. You can also go to various businesses listed that carry their baked goods, if you want to sample right now, but I didn't do that. I don't think they have a stand alone shop just yet. If you see something that you'd like to order, use the "contact us" form and someone will contact you within 24-hours or less. You can ask questions like prices, serving size, etc., as well as delivery options, and you'll get an answer. From there you can call Valerie and place your order. Ideally you'll probably want a few days to place an order before you need it, but going by other reviewers Valerie seems to be able to accommodate those who need it ASAP -- like next day. I'll definitely come back when I need more Gluten-free yummies. read more

I just went to Bardonna Cafe in Larchmont today and had the best piece of Banana Nut bread it was so moist and tasty I could not believe that it was Gluten Free!! I first discovered their stuff at Tiago cafe on Sunset Blvd. I typically go in for a drip coffee on a daily and they had this amazing looking banana chai loaf that I had to try once I knew it was gluten free. IT WAS TO DIE FOR!!!! So FRESH, so DELICIOUS, so MOIST and you wouldnt even think it was gluten free. I was blown away and kept coming back! I've had their scones and muffins and the consistency was always to the same result! I then found out they did private orders so I went ahead and recently ordered their feta spinach tart (kind of like a quiche but better) with quinoa crust because I wanted something that would fill me up and last me in the mornings. Valerie was wonderful communicating and planning this order. She was very thoughtful and decorated the cake with a "Love" sign on top and also provided us sparkly candles.
