I'll definitely be back to order that again and maybe I'll have better luck next time with the availability of the limited edition pastries. It wasn't as busy as it typically gets so took advantage of the opportunity and I dined in. During my visit I adored the Kuromi decor around the story. It was definitely picture worthy. They also have the cutest merch available for sale and of course I bought a sticker sheet to add to my sticker collection. The workers also wore pretty purple Kuromi hats and aprons, which is also included in their merch for sale fyi. I'm starting to think I might just have to give up my journey to find these although there are some places in Vegas that look promising. I don't think Reno has any bakeries that make these. I asked whether they had any others, and an employee told me they had been flash frozen and were in the freezer. She brought one out for me. I asked, "Was this made today?" and was told yes, so I bought it. I was very disappointed when I got home and cut it in half. I understand that a handmade dessert won't look exactly like a photo, but this was far from what I had expected. I called the bakery to explain my concern. The person I spoke with did not let me finish explaining and insisted, "That could never happen." She also asked why I was saying that and told me to bring the mochi back. I had gone out of my way to visit early that morning, so being told to make another trip was frustrating. The phone conversation left me more upset than the mochi itself. This was my second visit. I had also had a disappointing experience with a green onion or garlic bread on my first visit, but the Instagram photo made me want to give the bakery another chance. It disappeared quickly. (We have had two prior birthdays where people brought in sheet cakes --from other bakeries -- that ended up getting mostly thrown away.) I wish I were closer to Eagle Rock, as Ruby Bakery would be my go-to for celebrations. The cupcakes were not over powering in sugar that it actually doesn't make you crave and want to gulp a galloon of water. The sweetness is subtle. And the frosting?! I have no idea what and how this business makes their frosting but if I was a kid in the kitchen you'd probably find me in the corner with a bowl stuffing my face of it. The frosting is delicious. The texture is almost that of whipped cream cheese (which it probably is) but slightly loose (if this makes sense). The important point: it doesn't get hard. I left a cupcake on my desk at work for probably a few hours and the frosting did not go stale. Anyhow, I recommend Little D's. The service fantastic and the owner is absolutely all about fantastic customer service. Side note: I didn't realize how long it's been since I reviewed. Boy am I rusty. Even with my 2013 badge snatched away from me, I Yelp on.
