Ordered a "didiesse frog espresso machine" in DEC24. Never really used it due to travel. Used it a few times after season of travel halted. Machine came to me with a broken steamer - and was not extracting as I've seen it done before. Reached out for customer support later - sent it back (had to pay for shipping) - then wouldn't get any updates as to what was done to it - asked for pictures / updates (I did this so I know they were working on this and not holding onto my asset to make it seem like they were working on it). I also asked for my asset's steamer to be put back on...2ish weeks pass by - they tell me I need new espresso pods. So I bought the pods. They then tell me I need to pay for shipping from them to me. Asset comes back with more or less the same way of bubble wrap I did when I shipped it - but new tape job on my box. Steamer was not attached as per my request - machine now is still working the same way as before...dribbling the weak espresso shot. Communication was horrid. I have no trust that they actually worked on my asset - as they never updated me. All I asked for was an update every other week - I wanted to know that issue as to why my machine is not as good as the ones I am used to...radio silence. I've descaled my espresso machine, cleaned, and bought the new espresso pods - still working as when I first bought it: Defective asset. My family has this same machine in Costa Rica. When they visited and I told them I got this "worked on" - I then pulled them an espresso shot and my family guaranteed me that this isn't a normal pull. I'd like customer service to reach out to me immediately to discuss this further to refund me the money I spent on this asset - and refund the shipping as I am positive this asset was sitting in the back and was truly not worked on until I kept kindly harassing them via email about updates. read more

This is a locally owned and operated business. They used to have a storefront on South Passaic Ave but moved here. The coffee is roasted in NJ. They originally were located in Newark. That's where they roast the beans and ship from. The service is friendly and occasionally you see the owner in the shop, as she lives locally too. The ambiance is that of a cute downtown shop with fresh brewed coffee, espresso machine and a wall of coffee grounds and cute items that a coffee or tea connoisseur would appreciate. They also do gift baskets and don't have a problem recommending other businesses in Chatham that sell coffee and pastries. Coffee is moderate priced but expected for the high quality of the beans. I discovered these master coffee roasters of all places in my local Brookdale ShopRite, not some dimly lit cafe served to me by a bearded, sculpted haired man. I was floored. How could I have missed the urns of fresh brewed TM Ward coffee in the hot foods section after all these years? And when I got home I was so very impressed with the brew that I noticed the website and had to make a comment on how amazing this stuff is, and made here in NJ as well. Starbucks who ? I love the smell of the coffee here. Its so intoxicating. It literally gives a natural high. TM Ward's is a big candy store for adults. They have all the old fashion candy. They even have chocolate covered coffee beans. I'm not a fan of coffee , I'm really a ginger tea drinking babe. Maybe hot coco every now and then. But I just come here to stock up on my tea, nuts, and candy. I'm usually near here so I rack up on my strawberry licorice anytime I can. This place is always packed. No matter the time of day. And this is really one of the last places in Newark that hasn't been gentrified yet. The shop is really old school looking and feeling. Your always greeted by a friendly face and warm smile. Just try not to have too many questions because a lot of the women who work in here don't speak English very well. The prices are also very decent and fair. Gave me that old general store vibe mixed with a candy factory, but for coffee instead. There's many products I'd like to sample at some point. Adam D turned me onto this place and I will continue to go here whenever I can find a parking spot. They have a very nice selection of beans from around the world and will grind them for you if you need them to...or just do it yourself. I guarantee you aren't going to beat the prices. Every morning, either I or my boyfriend make TM Ward coffee (Andres Select specifically) for our daily caffeine fix, so we regularly stop by the store on Broad Street to refill our supply. This is a great little coffee shop in the city of Newark. You can grab a cup of coffee if you are on the go or during your lunch break. They also have iced coffee during the summer months. There is a serious selection of coffee roasts. I haven't tried them all (yet), but I like the aforementioned Andres Select, Ethiopia Harrar, Chocolate Raspberry, and Chocolate Macadamia Nut. I've used the last two for making iced coffee at home. The staff will grind the beans for you, but you can also buy bags of pre-ground coffee or whole beans. In addition to coffee, TM Ward has a large selection of teas, nuts, dry snacks, and candies. I always end up picking up a snack to try whenever getting our coffee supply for the week. Note: The shop closes early at 4pm weekdays. Saturday hours fluctuate, so your best bet is to go during the work week. I am a new customer of Ward's since I am working at the Federal Court around the corner for this summer. They have many kinds of naturally roasted and flavored coffees, often around ten different kinds on tap and even more for purchase in whole bean. Most types of flavored and regular coffees go for around $8.00 per pound, which is significantly cheaper than most Starbucks varieties. You'll find the standards like Sumatra and Ethiopian Sidamo here, as well as the more expensive Hawaiian Kona. Or you could try "Bold Justice - the Judge Alito Blend" in honor of the Supreme Court Justice (formerly of the Third Circuit Appeals Court and Seton Hall University, both right here in Newark). This coffee is SO good. As I am drinking it, I just can not get over how great it is. The moment you walk in, you are surrounded by the smell of coffee. The coffee is simple, they have several types and you dispense your own. I mixed their House Blend and French Vanilla. It is one of the best cups of coffee I have had and the price is amazing. They have tons of candy, chocolate covered nuts and pretzels and things, fudge, and other snacks. All of this stuff is so well priced too. Seriously this store is awesome. The one downside is they close at 4:30 pm and I don't think they are open on weekends. But if you can get there in time, it is well worth it. read more

I walked from the PSEG building, passed the Purdential Center, around City Hall, alongside a fried chicken place and got to TM Ward. You feel like you were drop kicked back in time, to a world where all you need to survive is fresh coffee, chocolate covered anything and roasted peanuts. You don't feel like you are in downtown Newark anymore. Their prices are great ($7-12/lb coffee & teas) they are will grind up the coffee for you. They also have 5 or 6 fresh brewed coffee flavors so you could have a taste before committing. Try the dried okra, crunchy and sweet; and the candied cashews, sweeeeeet. Feel free to ask the staff about their recommendations, I like the Jaimacan me crazzy blend (i think it's called) rich but not overwhelming. If you are sick of crappy deli coffee (or love the deli coffee in Newark, because chances are it comes from TM ward, they even have the 'restaurant' blend available for purchase) then stop by! read more

I must apologize to Ward's I have been buying and drinking their coffee for 20 years and have not review this wonderful little shop. The service is always excellent the prices are very good especially when you consider that you actually get a pound not like the cans in the supermarket that only 10 and 11 ounces. They boast about 250 different kinds of coffee on their website, but more interesting than that was the other stuff they had--candy and nuts! About a gazillion different kinds of homemade candies and nut mixes, in plastic bags with little price stickers written by hand. If you've ever wanted to try honey roasted Brazil nuts, or white chocolate covered espresso beans, this is your stop! I personally recommend the trail mix, since you can pick your mix theme, like extra pineapple! (eww, barf). Besides the fact that the counter person was serving at "Newark speed," which is to say, slow and sloppy, I will surely return here, especially since they're now open on Saturdays. read more

Heaven is a cup of TM Ward Coffee. Hell is not having it - every single morning, of every single day. Forget Maxwell House. If you move from the area, you can still order their coffee in bulk. That's the key word here - BULK - you can not have enough. There are so many different blends, it can literally make your head spin. The staff is A+ without a doubt. Funny, nice, with near infinite knowledge. Robert's choice blend is the regular favorite... their breakfast blends are also very nice. DIRT cheap for the quality. Some hard to find black teas are usually available as well. Dried fruit and old school candy, the same stuff you would sneakily dilvulge in the second granny turned her back....Jordan Almonds, yeah those were the best!!! This place has been around since the 1800s when Newark was that glorious city on the hill. While Newark has changed, this place hasn't, you literally feel like you walked back in time when you enter this place. But this review isn't about the atmosphere.......which is great. They're a restaurant wholesaler of coffee beans, fresh nuts, chocolate, etc. The staff scoops coffee beans out of barrels from all over when you order. They seem to have no less than 200 some odd varieties. They also have some ready made things like cherry dipped in chocolate, macadamia nuts, etc. Nothing too fancy and not pretentious at all, in fact everything is fairly cheap! I'm also an avid coffee drinker and this place makes the best coffee I've had anywhere. You would think all the cafes in New York might be better, I've even bought $60/lb coffees off the internet, nothing is quite as good as this place. I've been to Vienna for coffee, and this place is still even slightly better. Possibly the single best place in NJ for anything. read more

I don't know why this place hasn't expanded to take over New Jersey. The coffee is good, the snacks are good, and I'm pretty sure some of the beans are roasted in-house. They supply tons of restaurants and delis with coffee every day. They have Jersey and NYC-themed blends, like Justice Scalia: BOLD JUSTICE BLEND. Oh, and most of the beverages cost less than Starbucks. Come to think of it, now that the Starbucks at Commerce and Broad is closed, this is the only real coffee place downtown. Go figure. Definitely worth it if you want to skip the dunkin donuts a few blocks ahead of it or seattle coffee (in Subway), to help the mom n' pop shops AND have a better coffee experience anyway! I mean for 1.25 you get a filling small cup of flavored coffee and they leave out the additional flavors you want. I usually do one of the nutty flavors-- and add that to whatever coffee and you're fine because they all taste great. I love coffee and was a little disappointed on the selection. I actually thought it would have a wider selection versus the Chatham location. The only pro is the selection of nuts and candy. Also parking was very difficult and took me about 20 minutes to find a spot. The ladies behind the counter weren't as helpful. Felt like it was fend for yourself. I'd rather drive 30 minutes to the Chatham location than come back to this location. First, they are incredibly nice and friendly. They stayed open late just for us and were incredibly helpful. Their array of dried fruits, nuts, snacks etc. is unmatched and all reasonably priced. Now the coffee....I bought the Peru, Kona, Portuguese Espresso and Ethiopia Harrar. The bad news: They were ALL very over roasted. Which meant that they all tasted the same: Like a roaster. Now, I wouldn't be overly upset about this, however the Kona is $32 a pound, that's a lot to pay for coffee that tastes little different than its cheaper counter parts. It's the equivalent of ordering kobe beef blackened, it's just not worth the money. So in the end, the coffee was a huge disappointment (If they start looking into some light and medium roasts, this might change) but it's an overall well run business. read more

The best espresso beans I have found in a long time! Better than Lavazza from the supermarket. Better than Starbucks. However, the staff needs to be better educated about the merchandise, because the woman behind the counter didn't know the difference between the two espresso beans they are carrying, so she had to ask someone else there. The Italian roast is stronger than the Portuguese, that's all. But overall this is a great spot with wonderful treats! I'll be back for more. read more

Stayed at the Doubletree Hotel at Penn Station and wanted a fun coffee experience, other than the typical chain. I'm SO GLAD I walked to TM Ward, what a great surprise! The place is charming, has a great history, going back 4 generations! Many pots of different coffees brewing, too many to taste! The place has barrels of beans, all kinds for sale..and it smells outstanding! The service is great, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I found more than what I came for; amazing coffee of course (bought a couple pounds to take home to Oregon with me) and fresh roasted peanuts, but also a family of people working here who love what they do and are passionate about it. No chain place offers this. I'll come back every time I'm in town just to say hello and enjoy great coffee. Absolutely a must visit!! read more
