    Carnita and Quesito

The fresh pastries?!? Omgoodness! We had the Carnitas and Quesito straight out of the oven. Wow! The coffee choices are so delicious and the perfect combo to stay the day. I live the space and it's quiet enough to get work done. Staff was super friendly and gave great suggestions. They even have an annual gala schedule for Oct 1 which i might have to attend

New coffee shop alert! Located on Halsey street, close to Rutgers and Prudential. I think there's like 6 coffee shops on this street but this place stands out, from the service, coffee quality, and the spacious seating vibe! Come check it out, it's my favorite coffee, also I heard their food is good!

Ambiance: love the vibe. It's really well designed and decorated. The green couch area reminds me of coffee spots I would frequent in Long Island. Definitely feels welcoming and like they want to be a third space. I was pleasantly surprised to come in and see the amount of people I did inside and as noisy as it is inside, you hear nothing on the outside. Food: plenty of options. I did not partake today but I plan to return for empanadas. They are a favorite food of mine to eat. Coffee options look good too. Service: moving fast enough for the volume they have here this morning. Overall, first impressions are good! I look forward to returning and validating that my initial reaction is correct.

Came to Cortaditos for the second time and so far, I'm still very happy with this addition to Newarks downtown scene. It's a cute cafe on Halsey street with some soft seating to get work done. The coffee is quick and delicious and the ambiance is nice and quiet. Parking can be a challenge on the street but it's conveniently located for those who work/live in the areas. Would recommend for coffee drinks or those looking for a place to get heads down work done.

I came across this cafe a week ago & it has not disappointed me at all! I've tried the iced Tres Leches latte, the iced Flan latte, & the strawberry mojito drink & they were all amazing! The service was quick, the artwork & layout of the store is so aesthetically pleasing & I just love that I found this place! This will be my go-to cafe when I'm in the Downtown Newark area.

Who wouldn't want an empanada in the morning? Great Cuban inspired cafe. Great coffee. Atmosphere filled with Cuban jazz and salsa. Garbanzo empanada is tasty! Cafecito as good as it gets. Clean lively place with great staff!

My coffee and croissant was absolutely amazing! Staff were kind and the aesthetics are awesome. A nice space to caught up with friends, do work, or study. It has a lot of sitting areas.

What a charming spot for my morning cafe con leche, and more, in the heart of downtown Newark. It's spacious , with plenty of stools to sit at the counter and couches to enjoy your bites while surfing the internet; I love it!!! They have numerous sweet and savory items on the menu . The service is prompt and friendly.

My friends and I ordered their toter tots, crispy chicken and chocolate bubble waffles with milk tea ice cream to share and I ordered their jasmine tea with cheese foam. Our order was ready a lot quicker than I had expected. The taiwanese crispy chicken was crispy, juicy and tender as they used chicken thighs for it. It was also well seasoned and tasted authentic. The tater tots were also perfectly fried as it was super crispy and they were sprinkled with the same seasoning as the chicken. The bubble waffle was the biggest surprise for me as I have never found a place that does it right (texture wise). This is the place! The waffle was crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside and the batter wasn't too floury as I have often found in other places. But that could also be because we ordered chocolate flavor so I should try their original next time. My only complaint is it didn't have enough chocolate taste for me. The milk tea ice cream, although wasn't the best I've had but it's decent and you can still taste the tea. My jasmine tea with cheese foam was fragrant and the cheese foam complimented the tea well and didn't make it overly filling. Overall, I really enjoyed everything I've ordered here and it's perfect for a mid day or late night snack and drink. I have been to other locations in the area and thought they're not as good as this one so I will have to come back to this location especially for their bubble waffles.

Two floors with the main floor having tons of bar stools, Tabes and a lower nook area with a larger table and some couches. Menu offers snacks, small bites and more substantial meal options. They also do a happy hour special beginning at 4! I opted for a dirty chai (5/5) and scrambled egg and cheddar sandwich (5/5) both were delish! Appreciated the side salad as well! If you're looking for a spot to work, meet a friend or enjoy some time to your self reading a book definitely check it out. Staff is friendly, noise is reasonable and not disruptive, space is bright and open. Free WiFi. Plenty of places nearby if you wanted to try another spot for food. The only bummer is the Parking. There is street or nearby parking lot but street parking was full even at 9:30 AM the lot is covered but $5 for 2 hours and up from there.

The ambiance is cheerful and inviting, it transported us to a warm island day for our brief stay. It seems there was only one barista working that day and she was very helpful, patient, and friendly. My husband ordered the Cremas Latte and oh my god I wish I got it, it was so delicious; creamy, flavorful and sweet. I ordered the iced toasted almond "hot" chocolate, it was a very rich dark chocolate taste with the amaretto flavor coming through nicely. It was not overly sweet which I enjoyed. I think this is how hot chocolate was meant to taste and I'll be curious to try it hot. I also appreciated that there was some of my drink that didn't fit in the cup, so the barista gave it to me in another cup. My son ordered a Golden Mango Smoothie- he loved it! I love that it has turmeric in it, I felt good letting him have this drink. We also got some snacks. We ordered the Haitian beef patties which were very authentic. You get two per order which was a nice surprise. My son wanted to eat all 4 from our two orders. We also ordered a mini chocolate cake which was decadent and moist and a mini key lime pie which was refreshing and delicious! It was really nice being able to go to a Haitian cafe. My husband and son are Haitian and we enjoyed teaching our son about his culture while he can enjoy treats made with imported Haitian ingredients and recipes. He also enjoyed looking at the art work which prompted him to ask my husband more questions. I only wish there was better parking, especially for us out-of-towners, but I know that is hard in a city.

I immediately stopped on the Vietnamese restaurant with almost a perfect rating at 4.9 stars and 500+ reviews. I'm equally excited, and skeptical. NY/NJ residents aren't the easiest to win over. I walked maybe 6 min to the restaurant. It was a nice sized store front with a well lit dining room, and self and full service kiosk. I was immediately greeted by the staff, I chose to do self serve. Even with that, I still felt very welcomed and engaged once I placed my order. All the items were displayed, and looked fresh. The staff carefully put together a teriyaki salad bowl, and pho for me in about 10 minutes. Once I got the food to my hotel room, I was genuinely impressed. The Pho was so rich in flavor, without being too salty. The noodles were the perfect texture. 10/10. A few hours later after the gym I cracked open the salad bowl. This was referred to me by the staff vs the lemon grass chicken. I am glad I listened, the amount of tender juicy chicken is impressive. The crispy lettuce, and robust tomatoes were a great combination of healthy, and hearty. Bahn & Bo deserves the accolades it's earned, and the one I made up at the beginning. Pro tip: The prices are so good, and so are the portion sizes. If you are looking for fresher, lighter, healthier, skip the Chipotle and Qdobas around the corner, and come here.
