First off, it's Starbucks. They're all about consistency. I'm a customer because I know regardless of location, my drink will taste the same no matter what. Second, the baristas are nice enough. They greet you, they take your order, ask your name and bid you a good day. Staffing level is fine on the weekends, which is when I come in. Wait time varies. It can be minimal to a longer wait they usually. It's all about how busy they are. If you're under a time crunch, do not place an order and expect them to have it ready immediately. That's not their fault. That's you and your poor planning. Just putting that out there as I've seen folks give them grief for the wait time. It's a popular spot here as the Penn Station location is not open on the weekends. It's clean enough and they usually have what I want in stock. I'll continue to stop in as mobile ordering makes it pretty convenient to spend money here and the baristas are friendly enough. Give them a try. read more

No seating at this location at all which renders the premium price not worth it. The drink order seems to get messed up 25% of the time. They would forget adding some additions while ignoring details like "no room" and would provide a ton of room. Love this new Starbucks by the new Prudential Tower. It really gives the Downtown Newark area a wonderful shot in the arm! I must say this Starbucks is very well organized. There's always a long line at lunch time. However, the line moves Very Quickly! The employees are very friendly. All the drinks and food are made quickly and properly. My favorite drink is the "Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher Beverage". It really gives me a boost for the afternoon :) In my book, here's some Starbucks Food Winners: -Thai Style Peanut Chicken Wrap -Chicken and Artichoke on Ancient Grain Flatbread (Heated) Yum :) -Turkey and Havarti Sandwich The place is superclean. There's a Starbucks in Newark!! And they charge a little less than NYC's Starbucks! Lunch time on the weekdays, the line is super long here They're quick ringing up people but getting the order takes a while. It's worse when there's a special deal, like half off Frappuncino. The long goes on for days. Two less stars for rude service I get from the same worker. Her attitude is not pleasant. The other staffs serve with a smiling face and a welcoming voice. Been here five times now over the past few weeks and every single time it's slow and twice they've messed up the orders. I get it, they get a LOT of online orders and because of their location they also get a lot of foot traffic, but for crying out load either hire more people or get the people who are working to be more in sync. They are working their asses off behind that counter...figure out if they need another body back there. When the line is at the door park two people at the two registers and put the others by the machines making the coffee. You guys have been open long enough that this should have been worked out already. I love that Starbucks and the other stores in this area are leading the way to Newark's revitalization, but the service here needs to improve a bit. Ever since the morning crew changed, online orders are never ready on time. This is the third time I've ordered 15-20 minutes before arriving and the order is still not ready. On the app, it says the prep time is 3-5 mins. We hope this improves because the reason I order through the app is to ensure I can quickly pick up my order and go on with my day Updated on 11/19/19: This continues to be an issue is the morning. I've been ordering 30 minutes ahead of time on the app now. Today, I ordered 20 minutes ahead of time and once again, my order was not prepared when I arrived. The prep time on the app says 3-5 min. I've never seen such rude employees at a Starbucks in my life. I travel all over the country and get the same thing every time. At this location, the barista took my order incorrectly (I asked for venti, received grande) and when I inquired about it another barista came and told me to "check the sticker". So after I told them I had asked for venti they didn't care but just continued working. I would've paid the difference, but they were so rude I left. By the way, this same drink that I order the same way at any Starbucks I visit actually tasted bad, too. Horrible experience. read more

Wow a Starbucks with a 4 star it takes this Jersey girl to go to NJ to get great service! The parking is in the back and it is in a parking lot that you pay for you say you are there for Starbuck's and they let you in for free. They have 4 designated spots painted on the ground with the Starbuck's logo and their color green. Upon entering the store I head to the left to place my order. These two Starbuck's employees were definitely the "A" Team and they handled the lines with ease. Placed order and it was made and delivered quickly and accurately. Delicious Venti Cappuccino and oatmeal with blueberries. Not too much water in the oatmeal and a green stopper to keep the heat in my drink cup. Something unfortunately the one close to my home can never achieve. Their service is so great I look forward to coming back tomorrow. 2 days in a row purchase. Each time the blonde flat white with breve instead of milk - was not prepared properly. Ordered via app, so it wasn't a miscommunication. 1st day, it was missing something, this one could have been made with a shot of pike place and milk. 2nd day, missing an ingredient the ristretto shot and short a regular shot of expresso possibly, tasted like I was drinking a flat latte, didn't have the strong,bold, but smooth taste. I'm not going to lie, it's really nice in here. The location just opened recently, so everything is new and clean. There are super high ceilings, huge windows, and lots of natural lighting. It's across the street from the new Prudential Towers, so you have a view of Military Park. And there's an ample amount of seats and the music is set at just the right (not blaring like some places). It's a full service, legit Starbucks with all the drink and food selections available. My drink was made well and tasted good. Plus it's open until 9pm and the baristas and cashiers were all really nice and friendly. I can't complain. As much as I support my local spots, it's pretty nice in here. It fits in next to the towers and renovated Military Park. I must admit, I see these all positives. read more

One of many wonderful additions to downtown Newark and right next to the refreshed Military Park. It's wonderful to have a nice coffee shop here to meet with folks, study, or whatever that you need to do (and it's open on the weekends!!) Very clean, modern, and reminiscent of your typical Starbucks but welcome and needed! My only qualm is that it could be a little bit bigger but there's definitely a good amount of seating available (long tables, window-side, by the barista). read more

With the Newark location, unfortunately it can be a hit or miss. There are baristas there that work their butt off and have AMAZING SERVICE and consistent drinks and some that are straight lazy. I've been here PLENTY of times when the D.M. was in the store and not even a pep in their step. (but that will prove who will make it higher up and who is more successful in life) Thank you to the courteous partners of this location for always being nice, enjoying what you do, while having fun. Ican honestly say that in the past year the service in the location has seriously plummeted. Today, I decided I should try online ordering for the first time. My drink was completely wrong. I waited for over five about to be 10 minutes while I had my beverage in my hand and the barista would look at me and continue to make her beverages. Not even a simple "miss is everything alright?" Four baristas begins the bar no help. What was the point of a mobile order? But I eventually asked can i have some extra syrup for my coffee because i asked for a syrup and there is none. There was no, I'm sorry, no worries, would you like a new beverage (after waiting now 10 minutes) and I SAID THANK YOU and I just got stared at. Coming from a previous Starbucks employee, do you know how insulting that it? For someone who wrote a lengthy e-mail to their district manager raving about great service in honestly take it back. There are maybe 4 or 5 people that will give you a customer experience. This Starbucks refuses to sell decaf. I stop in once a month to see if they have changed their no decaf policy but the baristas always say sorry no decaf. The WiFi is only about 1-2 mb/sec. I go 1 block up the street to the Whole Foods and get my coffee there. Faster free WiFi and refills a buck. The decaf there is great. I just retired so the broad street shoppes lost a daily customer. The Newport starbucks is so much better. You can get whatever type coffee you want at any time of the day along with a waterfront view of Manhattan. Their WiFi sometimes goes over 100 mb/sec and the baristas are really friendly. The Newark starbucks is very good if you work in the area and want your coffee to go. read more

I love this place, not just because I love caffeine. I'm a regular, which means I seem to be at Starbucks more than the casual customer. My baristas greet me with a smile and ask about how I'm doing as they grab my order (which lately has been through the Mobile app) and place it in my excited hands. I proceed with my day with a warm and tingly feeling, which isn't from the latte. If ever my order gets messed up they fix it without issue because they want you to be happy with your order. The décor is lovely, the music is never too loud, and it's a nice place to meet up with other caffeine-addicts downtown. I enjoy my daily trips to this tucked away spot. read more

Some of the employees at this location are beyond rude and unprofessional. The employees that worked 5/05/2018 morning shift were horrible. Very rude and my order still was incorrect and I told the young lady and she didn't care. It's very unfortunate that their service ruins it for the entire team. I do hope that the training come up will also help there unprofessionalism. I'm very disappointed and upset about this entire experience. I'm a manager for a large franchise, we deal with customers as early as 7:00am and to experience horrible service first thing is the morning can ruin someone's entire day. That said, at times the environment in the store is a bit hectic and hard to relax and work in. Love having a new Starbucks in Newark, wish the baristas had better customer service training. I love Starbucks and am very excited to have one near work in Newark. We used to walk to the Rutgers student center and now it very close to the Prudential buildings. However, the customer service is terrible. I often do mobile ordering but the baristas do not acknowledge people when they come up to the pick up line, and do not call out mobile names. I see my drink finished and placed aside and I am like jumping up and down... that's mine!, but no one sees me. I have also had issues with them not completing my food orders as part of the mobile orders. They only do the drinks and I have to beg them to make my food. read more
