Overall: Dorothea has decent food but there are definitely better restaurants in Albuquerque. What…read moresets it apart is the ambiance. Food: 3.5 We ordered just about appetizer on the menu. My favorite were the little neck clams, lamb lollipop, and Greek plate. The Saganaki, crab stack, and tiropita were just okay. Lamb Shank: This was one of the best entrees ordered. The meat was fall apart tender and flavorful. The orzo was a little watery but was cooked to the correct doneness. Branzino: I assumed that this would be a whole branzino fish but they had already taken it apart which was nice. However, there were a couple of bones that were missed. Crab Mac: This was cheesy and very good. My only grip is that the pasta was a little overcooked. Service: 5 The servers were patient with all the questions and orders from a big group. They did not make any mistakes and food came out at good intervals. Ambiance: 5 The restaurant would be perfect for a date night. It wasn't too noisy and offered a little privacy between tables.

I had been eyeing this place for a while now and ended up going here for my birthday dinner!…read more We ordered the long stem artichokes for an appetizer, they were okay. I wished it was the actual artichoke, missing those being from California. I got the whole branzino with the lemon caper butter and broccolini and it was very good. Flavorful, cooked well and good portions of both. My guy got the lamb shank with tzatziki and lobster mac n cheese. Both were great. He was disappointed that the lobster wasn't mixed in the potatoes, but I thought it was better that way so it wasn't over cooked. For dessert we ordered the vanilla cake with orange marmalade. The cake was warm and had a bruleed crust under whipped creme. Was very nice end to the meal. The ambiance was nice, fancier than what I was expecting. The waitress was great and the guy filling up my water was killing it! The room we were in just to the left of the entrance had some weird acoustics, made it hard to hear my guy sitting right next to me.

Wonderful Wine + Fabulous Food = 1629 Restauarant at Casa Rondena…read moreThe setting is beautiful and nothing like anywhere else in Albuquerque! The changes they are making at 1629 make it a must stop for dinner! A new menu provides some tasty options like the black truffle and wild mushroom risotto to go along with their signature pizzas. Quin was an exceptional host as he welcomed us and would check on us during our meal, while our server Trinity was outstanding! We will be back!

I had high hopes for brunch at Casa Rondeña Winery, but unfortunately this was a disappointing…read moreexperience overall. We had a reservation for 11:30am and arrived on time, but ended up waiting outside for about 10 minutes with no staff in sight. We called multiple times for assistance before anyone came out. To make matters worse, the friend who made the reservation was never informed that brunch is held in the private club and not the e restaurant, which caused unnecessary confusion right from the start. Once a waiter finally found us, we were taken to the private club where we were told they only had three brunch menu items available that day. We ordered immediately, along with waters and mimosas. Keep in mind, there were only two tables total--our group of three and another group of seven--so it wasn't busy. Despite that, service was extremely slow. It took 20 minutes just to get our mimosas, and our waters were forgotten and didn't come out until another 10 minutes later. Our food took about 40 minutes, which felt excessive given how few people were there. Even more frustrating, my friends' meals came out about 10 minutes before mine. There's really no reason meals at the same table shouldn't be served together. The food itself was just okay. The only standout was the French toast, which was actually really good--and honestly the only reason this review isn't one star. I also ordered coffee and was told they don't carry creamer, which is surprising for a place offering brunch. Our waitress rarely checked on us throughout the meal, which added to the overall lack of service. Between the confusion, long wait times, and lack of attention, this experience didn't meet expectations. I won't be returning.
