This is a locals home town bar! The vibe is awesome and if you're into playing pool or darts, this is the place to come! The staff is super friendly and attentive! We come here often, but this is the first time I've actually put it down in yelp. if you're into the small divey type bar, this is a great place to come to. They also have a live band Thursday and Friday night. They might also have Saturday night. I made sure since we've had a few beers and I'm not too sure. Just the same. Is this joint a de facto biker bar in a strip mall? This was an absolutely boinkers night. Saturday karaoke seemed promising. Got there a bit after 10 and it was an hour wait list. Decided to try some pool while we waited. The biker group planted in the corner clearly decided to set us up (we were obviously from out of town). I specifically asked three of the dudes what the situation of the table was - all said it was open and it would be cool to play a quick game. More of the biker guys in the group surrounded us while we played. We saw they were trying to intimate us (over a pool table they, themselves, had said was free to play on - the set up was real). After we stopped our game short because these guys were staring us down, they tried to jump us IN THE BAR. These dudes ended up harassing our guy friends, trying to get them to fight OVER A POOL TABLE.....at a karaoke bar... IN A STRIP MALL. The KJ just kept talking on the mic while the fight was going down at the tables....wow. The bikers ended up jumping some random guy when we walked away, and then they followed us to another karaoke joint/bowling alley, scoped us out and stood watch at the doors for use to come out - we had to call the police for an escort. I'm not kidding. I don't give two sh*z what they thought of us for calling the police, but we aren't the ones trying to flex at a strip mall karaoke bar and following people around. So, take that into consideration. That's some pee-wee league nonsense. Pretty confident these mofo's are regulars because NOTHING was done about the fighting and intimidation tactics. No bouncers Women only bartenders One male bar back At least they had an secondary door we could leave through. So, if you want to pretend to be 1%ers.... clearly this is the place to practice. If you are looking for a solid neighborhood bar, this is your place. Service is solid, the bar staff always are ready to serve. The menu is limited to simple bar foods like chicken nuggets, taquitos and fried zucchini. Thursdays have Karaoke, and there is always a great classic rock band playing on the weekends. Overall, the place has a local dive bar charm that can only come from a seasoned owner who cares about making sure their customers are comfortable and happy. read more

This used to be my favorite bar to visit when I would come through Albuquerque. New owner was very, very rude to her staff and guests. Falling down, making out with customers, racial comments, politically charged, brags that she sleeps with who she wants and is married. Just an awful experience. Made me very uncomfortable. Sad that such an inviting neighborhood bar has turned into this. Went back recently to find out that the bartender that cared the most was forced out. She was very warm and funny person, amazing bartender and made you feel like you belonged there and was the reason I came back over the years. Used to be a really great place. I went on a Friday night to meet some friends and listen to live music (go Memphis P Tails). Normally I just drink beer but this night I was reliving some 80's memories and I got a few Colorado Bulldogs. I asked the waitress to tell the bartender (who was her mama) for light ice and that's what I got. Drinks were tasty. Crowd was great. Service was super friendly. The only negative thing I can say is there is only ONE toilet for the ladies room. It was a big, and clean, restroom, but it would be nice if there were 2 thrones! read more

I'm livid after this visit. Tonight we went to Dragon Horn to see if our favorite bartender was working, but now I think she does not work there anymore. We gave it a chance though. We ordered a first round of drinks and gave the bartender a card. When we wanted to order a second round the bartender acted like we did not already give her a card and made us feel like idiots. I know that I gave her a card, but my wife paid with her card. In the end the bartender found the card before we left. I loved this place before, but now with this bartender the service feels clinical and not warmhearted. I'm going to tell everyone that I know now to avoid this place. read more

What makes a good tavern? Service and atmosphere. This place is tucked away in a strip mall and offers an amazing neighborhood bar atmosphere and consistent service. The food offerings are limited, but that's not why one always goes to a local bar like this. The service is awesome! Nice mix of locals. Pool tables. Dart Boards. Karaoke. Live music. Waitress/ bartender/ singer . Yes she does do everything but she over served us. Yes, you like the 5.00 tip each time you served us and that's why you kept coming back but I think it's 1 drink an hour legally. You need to be more concerned about the clients rather than a tip. The Dragon Horn is a great place to meet your friends for a drink. No food service, bring a bag lunch or your favorite take out to eat here. You can also order Asian food from Sushiya next door but I don't recommend it. The bartenders (Cindy Lou, Cindy, and Vonda) and owners are excellent. There's karaoke on Saturday nights, pool league, 4 pool tables, 2 dart boards, and parking front and back. It's a friendly local unpretentious bar where they will remember your name after a few visits. There is no shortage of entertaining stories from the old timers. Bikers, cowboys, Native Americans, Hispanics, pensioners, sports fans, Goths, and rockers all mingle with jovial chatter without confrontation here. It's a great bar which Breaking Bad missed filming. Update: The bar configuration has changed and makes the place feel feel smaller and less friendly. Friday night live music bands seem to be focused on drinking rather than playing. The karaoke scene is declining. I was in on a Saturday night and ended up witnessing a shot fired in the back parking lot. There's an element late at night on the weekends that I will definitely avoid. Recent renovations to the bathrooms are good. But with recent escalations at night, you may want to find a safer venue. I have deducted 2 stars until it becomes a safe place again. I have been to Dragon Horn twice and it's a nice local, neighborhood bar. Both times I have gone specifically to shoot league pool and I have to say - the space is VERY SMALL for folks to play two league games at a time (which is how it works). On the up side - this is an experienced owner/management team who previously owned Brien O'Brien's (for those of you from Albuquerque). Donna, one of the owners, is a great server, pleasant and great to chat with. I recommend this spot if you want to hang out and shoot some pool. They have darts too. Might be better to shoot pool at on off time, when there are not others using the table next to you - just because of the close confines of the pool area. read more

This is a little, local place. Love the name, but it's not a major theme or anything. A few TVs, an okay selection in the bar (though they had a couple of very nice IPAs on tap, which was a pleasant surprise), 4 pool tables and 2 dart boards. Descent jukebox. No food. I'm not sure that this will be my new favorite local watering hole. Probably not. But, it's fairly close to where I live, it's clean and has reasonable choices. Prices were fair ($4.50 for a pint). Cool tavern tucked away next to the Albertson's on the corner of Juan Tabo and Candelaria. You walk in past the long bar so plenty of seating to go 'round if you're looking to grab a stool. For being tucked away, this place gets pretty full once the week is over. Been here on a Tuesday and we had free reign on one of the four or five pool tables in the back. There is also a couple dart boards at the front of the joint. Thats what I like most about Dragon Horn is there is plenty of space and elbowroom to get funky on the felt without popping somebody in the ribcage with your cue. Just avoid coming during a league pool night to be honest, they jack down the jukebox for concentration purposes and the place fills up like a belly at a buffet. Dart area has its own tables so all in all the staff has really laid out the tavern well. Drinks are reasonably priced and plenty of parking because its in a strip mall and Albertsons closes at 11pm so the lot will be empty. If you're a smoker, their back patio is always a place to mingle and not be shoulder to shoulder with some burly biker. Live music is featured on the regular though Id like to see them mix up the genres a bit, its really a mix of the same. To wrap this sucker up, Dragon Horn Tavern is a pretty solid tavern you've probably driven by hundreds of times and never knew existed. As someone who has been there more than a few times (Its across Juan Tabo from mi casa) I can tell the neighborhood its nestled right in front of really supports and enjoys it, as I think you would, if your looking for a new spot to slam some cervezas. Mark my words, if they shook up the type of live music they featured and beefed their web presence with some more promotions and event nights, this would be a five star place to wet your whistle Id be proud to call mine. read more

Good place to play pool if you can find it. Total hole in the wall bar in an obsolete shopping center. Dark and gloomy at first until your eyes adjust, but it is a clean place to go. Not bad. Not great. Decent little neighborhood bar, lots of space, no discernible smell, which surprised me. The bar itself is very limited - we have a larger selection in our home bar - and the beer selection is predictably low-end and also very limited. A few dragons here and there, not an overwhelming theme, which I think disappointed my husband. They do seem to support three different sports teams, none if which I can remember, but were plastered around the bar, in a non-obnoxious way. I imagine game days are fun for those teams' fans - I'll try to get them in here and revise. They have four pool tables in a space that is really better suited to three. Fine if only two or three tables are being played, but I think if all four were going it could be really annoying. Two dart boards are set up very nicely and would be a good place to play. The bartender was very nice, checked on us often enough to be helpful, no so often as to be annoying. Let us run a tab without demanding a credit card - although it was fairly empty when we went in, so I don't know what it's like when swamped. Apparently they have live music sometimes, no idea what kind or how often, but you could certainly look into it if that is your thing - it isn't mine. (Live bar music doesn't really float my boat, yo.) They also have a jukebox with a random, wide mix of stuff. Some nasty country stuff was playing when we came in, but it switched up to decent (meaning my taste) rock and some 80s as well. I guess it's the luck of the draw for whomever puts their cash in the box - pay if you wanna play! Prices were good, plenty of room to move around, decent place.
