I've been a customer of TLC Nails, Lydia Ho, for almost 15 years. In that time, she has brought my nails from disaster to wonderful. TLC is a one person shop conveniently located in Pacific Grove, with street parking out front and a large parking lot directly across the street. The shop is very clean, her instruments are always sterilized before use and each regular client has their "own" nail box with their own buffer's, etc. Currently, I get the basic nail manicure, but when I began with Lydia 15 years ago, she gave me my first set of acrylics. I have received tons of compliments on my nails over the years. The one thing Lydia knows is nail care and she shares her knowledge with you if you are having any particular issues. Lydia probably knows more about me than my closest friends. She's a very dear person who I trust so completely, that I have been bringing my granddaughter to her for "Gramma and Granddaughter Day" since she's been old enough to sit in "the chair". This place stays in business because the lovely lady who owns and operates it produces nails that are works of art. My acryllic nails are thin and natural. The surfaces are flawless, like smooth pieces of glass. They are also strong and last 3 weeks. I get compliments everywhere, most recently during a medical procedure! Seriously. I just had my nails done at a backup shop in an emergency for less cost, but boy, do they look it with creases all over them. And the backup lady is a lot better than some I have tried. Finally, the only toxic fumes I have found at TLC Nails PG are the ones from the previous review. TLC is a bit pricey, thus 4 stars, but you do get what you pay for. read more

$40 for a basic manicure. I'm still recovering from sticker shock. She did a good job, and from the other reviews, I expected to pay a little more, maybe $20 or even $25...but $40? No gel. Just a simple, basic manicure with a single coat of clear polish. The place is nothing extravagent. Lydia has worked miracles on my feet. My nails were discolored from wear and tear. That is no longer the case, and I'm able to play golf and walk without getting a cart after 9 holes because my feet hurt so bad. So I brought my 19 year old daughter to Lydia. She had just returned from Europe where she walked her feet into several infected toenails, and the bottom of her feet were just a mess.
