If I could give her 1,000 stars I would. I got my first dog, a Golden Retriever, thinking he'd be an easy dog for a first timer. Boy was I wrong. He was out of control and I couldn't handle him. It was so bad I stopped having guests over or taking him on walks because I was so embarrassed by his behavior. I became resentful towards him and would hide in my room away from him because I was exhausted with him. That's no way for a pet parent or a pet to live but I can't stress enough how serious the situation was. I got weekly phone calls from his doggy daycare requesting that I pick him up due to his behavior. I went through 4 different private trainers, who came to my home, and that didn't work. I took him to group classes and that didn't work. When he got to 14 months I got a new Maltipoo puppy because people said that would help if he had a friend. WRONG. Then I was stuck with 2 out of control monsters. I say stuck because I refused to give up on them. Thankfully, I didn't. Because I found Violet. Violet is amazing! I have a beautiful and well bred schnauzer that was a happy out of control girl. I've bred, raised and trained dogs my entire life. I have never had a dog like her. Although Violet is very nice, our experience with her as a canine trainer was not good, in fact it was quite disturbing. She's not a licensed trainer, which we weren't aware of until we brought our dog to her. However, because of her reviews and recommendation, and because our dog warmed up to her immediately, this wasn't too big of a concern. When we first arrived at her home/business, which is off grid and has no running water and no electricity, I was a bit concerned because it was so hot this week with temperatures in the mid to upper 90's and her place is in the middle of the Phelan desert off a dirt road, which is hot! She reassured me by telling me that she would only be taking our dog out early in the morning, 4 AM, and would keep him inside during the day with her, where she keeps it cooled to the mid and upper 60's. I later learned, from her, that she was carrying him outside, because the ground was too hot for him to walk on, either to a shady area or to a secured area that she had prepared for him in the shade, which was covered with a black tarp (the color black is a conductor of heat). When we picked him up she showed us his area and told us that he didn't have any water while he was in this area, but he was given water on his way back into the cooled area (where he was supposed to be during the day). For an animal to be outside in this heat and not to have free access to water is dangerous and might be considered as animal cruelty and/or neglect. Violet had our 9.6 pound Maltese mix for only one week, beginning Sunday, June 29th, until Sunday, July 6th, when we decided to pick him up due to a disturbing phone call I received from Violet on Saturday, July 5th at 6:30 PM. She called to inform me that our dog started peeing in his crate. This started happening after being in her care for 6 days. This was concerning to me because it's unusual for a dog to pee in it's crate, and could be a sign of a urinary tract infection. She didn't think it was a urinary tract infection and thought it was probably just a behavioral issue because his urine flow hadn't stopped and he was still peeing. Because of this comment I became very concerned, thinking that with all of her experience with dogs she should know that a dog's urinary flow only stops if the infection is severe. I spoke with my husband about the situation and we decided to pick him up the very next morning. When we picked him up, he was dehydrated (his skin/fur could not be pulled away from his body), his stomach he was extremely distended (bloated), he was limping on his right front paw (Violet said it was probably just an ant bite, which it probably was because he stopped limping by Wednesday), and he had a cut on his chin (we noticed this when we got home). He was also very lethargic, out of it, and was very wobbly. On the way home, we stopped to have him weighed at the same place we had him weighed before we took him to her for training, he weighed 11.6 pounds. He gained 2 pounds in 1 week! This is a lot for a 9.6 pound dog! This is approximately a 20% weight gain in one week, which is an unhealthy weight gain regardless if you're animal or human. Tuesday, I had him weighed again and he weighed 10.2 pounds, a loss of 1.4 pounds. The short-period/temporary weight gain was more than likely fluid retention because it came off within 1 1/2 days. This is an indication that his kidneys might not have been functioning properly, possibly because of dehydration. I called Violet after arriving home and asked her directly if she had given my dog CBD. She said she does give dogs CBD, but only does so with the owners permission, and that she did not give any to our dog. She then named 4 different CBD's that she uses for dogs in her care. There are a few more reasons for this negative post, but the dehydration is our most concerning because it is directly related to his health and wellbeing, therefore, I won't go into our other concerns. I contemplated this post (while tending to my sick dog) for just over a week, and came to the conclusion that I have an obligation to inform others of the treatment of our dog so that others who might be considering TLC Canine Training will be well informed. Violet has very high ratings for training dogs, medium to large from what I can see online, but I would definitely not recommend her for training smaller dogs. read more

To start we had two out of control dogs (GSD and Aussie) that we absolutely could not walk or take anywhere due to aggression. I contacted her via a referral and she was prompt with replying and we set up our appointment very soon after. We told violet all of our concerns and she took her time explaining and was incredibly knowledgeable. Our girls stayed for 3 weeks and we had an in depth session on how to handle them and basically relearn new strategies that were custom to our situation. We then took them on a walk and I was absolutely floored with how well both of them walked. Went from horrific pulling and aggression to an easy and enjoyable walk! Violet also truly, and deeply loves the dogs. It was genuine and I really loved it. We plan on bringing them back for boarding next year! To top off the already amazing service she gave us a follow up session where we worked through any lingering issues and anything we wanted to discuss. It was wonderful to talk to her because she truly is a wealth of knowledge with anything dog related. If you are on the fence with dog training, I cannot recommend Violet enough.
