CJ's Plumbing completely flaked on us and left us with no washing machine for days. So, we called Tony and he came out right away. The washer was clogged and water was spilling out of it when it was in the rinse cycle and that backed up sewer water into our kitchen sink.. yuck... I've been having plumbing problems for years and have put off repair because one plumber told me I needed my clean outs replaced and it would cost $1000. My plumbing was backed up once again last night and the heavy duty drain cleaner I was using was no longer working. I called Tony after reading these reviews on Yelp. Called him at 7:30 a.m. and he was here in 25 minutes. He was here 2 1/2 hours, snaked the cleanouts and put in a new drain pipe in the bathroom sink as it had rusted through. I too found him on PennySaver. Our house has some old piping, so when I was looking up licenses, I was looking for someone that's been in this for a while. Of course, seeing the reviews here (which turned out to indeed reflect what he is like) also helped. We had a shower which we could not adjust the temperature easily (it came out really hot or really cold and you have to keep adjusting the lever until you somehow get to the correct one) and a toilet that clogged up easily. Both the faucet and toilet had been changed by other people to address the problems, but neither worked. So we are looking for someone that really knows what he is doing. When he came (on time), he looked at the stuff inside the wall for a while before declaring that we needed to change the whole fixture. He was not going to suggest unnecessary work. He was also really attentive to details. The wall behind our bathtub was not very strong so he even added support with some wood before screwing things in, while a sloppy plumber might just go for the wall. As for the toilet, he also carefully cleaned things out and poured water down and listened before deciding the new toilet was ready to be put in. I was impressed with the attention to details and knowledge he possesses in trouble shooting things. He was also a very nice and perhaps the most eloquent plumber I will ever met. And from talking to him, I can tell that he really believes in hard work and being a good person. It was a pleasure having someone with such good ethic. We will definitely call him again if we need other plumbing help in the future, and recommend him to our ( local ) friends as well! read more

Tony is very knowledgeable and thorough. I had a whole house main drain clog and I just could not clear it with my 50 ft snake. I called Tony, he came out when promised..actually a half hour early. He assessed the situation and the only access to get to the main drain and the roots was a roof vent. His price was cheap(especially after seeing how much other plumbers were charging my girlfriend for much easier jobs at her house). He cleared it and pointed out the large green cleaning sponge tied up in the roots (whoops...I knew that went somewhere) He lives in Long Beach. He is a one man show and likes to work mostly on family homes. My family and I moved into our new home during the holiday season. On New Years Day the plumbing backed up. The main drain was clogged so we couldn't use the sinks and toilets. I called around to various plumbers. None of them answered the phone due to the holiday. Finally called a big company, Mike Diamond. A technician came out and said he couldn't do anything for us except to reschedule for the next day when they would come in and install a "clean-out" which would cost $2,200. Before he left, he charged us $160 for emergency holiday service. They did absolutely nothing except walk around the house and then charged our credit card! I got online to search for other plumbers hoping someone would respond because we needed to use running water. I called Tony after reading some great reviews on Yelp. I left a message and he called me back within 10 minutes. We talked about the issue and within 25 minutes, he was at our home. On arrival, he didn't chit chat but just started moving about our house, inside and out. Then he described to me in detail his opinion of our plumbing issue. He performed a roof clean out and the problem was solved. The price was reasonable. Before leaving he quoted us $1,100 to install a "clean-out" which is half the price of Mike Diamond's estimate. The kitchen, washer & tub were all clogged up and couldn't use them. I tried the plunger, enzyme drain opener, etc. but couldn't get the water to drain. Our bathtub plugged up and we had standing water. Did everything we could on our own to no avail, had to call the plumber. Mr. Rooter seemed promising but had to reschedule us for late in the day with the possibility of needing to wait til the next day. Out of desperation I looked on Yelp on found TL Plumbing with its amazing reviews. I called Tony ~10:30am Monday morning. Left a message and he called me back in ~15minutes. Got to my house ~30minutes after that. Got straight to business. Moved around the house, inside and out to diagnose where the problem was and how best to fix it. Explained his work and price beforehand. Cleared our drain within an hour total, as in when we first knocked on our door to when he left. Patiently answered all of our questions. Offered us educational advice about what to do next time. Was courteous and professional. Price was much lower than Mr. Rooter's over-the-phone price quote. I had a leaky kitchen faucet and a broken bathroom drainstop. Tony replaced the faucet with one I picked out from Lowe's and repaired the drainstop. He was very thorough and professional, and very friendly. He did some cleanup of mineral deposits around the sink so it looks better than when he started. I'd used him once before a couple of years ago to snake a sewer drain as well. His pricing is very fair and professional--reasonably low but not so low that you feel something's can't be right but not high so you feel you're being taken advantage of (with a lot of home repair issues I always feel like they feel they have me over a barrel--with Tony I always feel its a very fair and mutually respectful transaction). I had standing water in the sink so I went to Home Depot and got some Drano. I used the product as the instructions said - then called the plumber. Tony is great, as a person and as a plumber. He knows exactly what he's doing to get the job done right and every review before this has got it right. I rarely write reviews, but Tony definitely deserves it. He got a couple of other calls while he was working on my plumbing issue, but he definitely spent the time to make sure everything was 100% OK before leaving my house. Big Props to Tony, he arrived almost immediately when I called him with a problem with one of my pipes and some leaky faucets (even though I was a first tim customer), he worked quickly and talked me through the entire process. I got the impression that he was trying to charge me as little as possible, which is always appreciated. A few days later I called him to see if he handled heating as my floor heater was not coming on. He said that he would love to help me but he no longer enjoyed crawling under peoples houses, however he stayed on the phone with me for a few minutes and tried to diagnose the problem so that whomever I chose to come out didn't have a chance to take advantage of me. Tony is the best. I've used him twice now. First time had standing water under the house from bad pipes that were backed up. No clean out so he hauled his machine to the roof to snake through the venting. Spent tons of time until it was finally fixed and then came back a week later no charge just to check under the house. We had a fantastic experience with TL Plumbing! He responds quickly, charges reasonably, and answers questions. We called Tony at 9:30pm on a Thursday because our toilet was clogged and our attempts at plunging and snaking it did not work! I left a message and he called me back within five minutes. He asked us a variety of questions about our toilet to assess the severity of the problem and he answered all of my questions. When I asked for a price estimate, he walked me through the possible reasons for the problem and provided general cost estimates. We made an appointment for 8:30am the next day and he arrived on time. He was friendly and fixed our toilet in short order! All in all, it cost $65! Called TL based on the ratings and how he always calls right back. It was a holiday weekend and I left a message. Actually left about 4 in a 4 day span, so finally asked if this wasn't his number if someone could call and tell me, or if he was no longer in the business. (the message doesn't say if you are calling TL or not, just leave a message). He called back with an attitude, that he hadn't returned any of my calls because he was too busy. Asked me what the job was, I told him I needed repiping. He said, I work alone and I'm busy so get someone else. Wasn't asking him to come now, just to see about scheduling for next week. Again he said, "I work alone and I'm busy so get someone else before you have termite damage" Must have been a bad day for him, but who gets angry with a customer because they have called??? read more

I'm a litle pissed right now, but that's only because I'm not the first to review this guy. My wife and I have been calling on Tony for close to seven years now and I wouldn't even consider calling anyone else. Because of the way my house's plumbing is laid out (laundry being first stop on the sewer line), we need him at least once every six months and again whenever SOMEONE overloads the garbage disposal with egg shells and carrot peels. It doesn't matter when I call, he always seems to be able to make it THAT day, or the morning after. I can't say enough about this economical, reliable, and professional service person. Let me start by stating that Tony from TL Plumbing is a one-man operation. He can't do extensive jobs not because he doesn't have the know-how, but because he doesn't have the manpower. He does not do apartments, condos, or commercial locations. With that said, Tony is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and persistent. I have called him on two separate occasions, and he has made time to come with no problems at all. The first job he fixed several issues: - A leaky shower faucet. The bathroom was remodeled in 2001, and was done incorrectly. A plumber that was used previously was made aware of the situation, but said it would be too big a job to handle and that he would have to tear down the wall. Although it wasn't easy, and took 2 days because parts needed to be ordered, Tony was able to fix the problem without tearing down anything. - Brown water was coming through the entire house. At the main shut-off valve, galvanized steel was connected to copper causing rust. It could easily have been spotted by any previous plumber but wasn't. Tony was able to fix the problem easily. - Tony drained the water heater and taught me how to do it myself. He also spotted a potential fire hazard near the water heater and remedied that as well. - Installed a new expensive kitchen faucet I got from Home Depot. He pointed out to me that the previous installer had gotten lazy and had hoses under the sink too long that they needed to be snaked around each other. That explained the horrid smell coming from the sink. On the second visit, nearly a year later, a valve under the bathroom sink was leaking and needed to be replaced. Despite being busy, Tony was able to show up that same day in the afternoon and fixed the problem. In response to the one-star review where Tony must've had a bad day and got angry, I cannot see this from Tony. Tony is one of the nicest and funniest men I've ever met, he greets with a smile, tells a few jokes and stories, and talks about his family. He even remembered my workplace and told me he did a job for a co-worker of mine. He is a pleasure to have around. I expected both jobs to be at least double what he charged me. His pricing is reasonable, he's dedicated to his work, and he's very personable. I'm glad to have found a plumber for life. read more

Well I read all these raving reviews on YELP so I called Tony. It says he covers all of Long Beach, but he said, NO - he does not work the Belmont Shore area. I said, I read that if you have a plumbing problem in Long Beach, you should call Tony. He replied, "well I haven't had a call in three days, so obviously people are not calling me." Then he asked if I found him on YELP. I said yes. He said "YELP are liars. Tell them I said they are liars." And then he hung up on me. YIKES!!! All I was trying to do was pay a plumber for a service. Instead I got an ear full before he rudely hung up. If you like to be abused on the telephone by a service provider who you are willing to pay to provide that service, then Tony is your man. Just as great as everyone says! We had a slow draining tub. I called him during the week to see if he could come out on the weekend and he said he could. He said the earliest he could get there was noon on Saturday and I asked him if he could come any earlier and he couldn't.
