I'm happy not to need a reservation, but I'd argue it should be busier as this was tasty stuff. Promising Chinese with a Southern American influence, this place delivered one of the more magnificent egg rolls you'll ever see, with a filling heavy on raddichio and a sharply contrasting pineapple-flavored sauce. My tofu dish came with peanuts and mala onions which had a hint of Sichuan peppercorn flavor. I opted not to order rice, and the dish was quite delicious without. In a nutshell: Gluten free Szechuan fusion paradise. I had family in town for the holidays, 2 of whom have been to China. After hosting Chinese international students for years, my family has become so fond of regional flavors, especially Ma La, the zingy and numbing spice found in Szechuan food. I also have many gluten free people in our party and one vegetarian, so I was so excited to find this perfect balance of flavor and allergen/ dietary restriction friendliness. This is not a traditional Szechuan menu, but rather, Szechuan flavors infused into modern American dishes and stir fries. We ordered everything family style, and would highly recommend doing so. My table got the tots, the charred broccoli, and the char siu mushroom appetizers. We also shared an order of chicken fried rice, TKO chicken, and crispy tofu and sweet potatoes. Since the desserts were gluten free, we also sprung for an order of the cornmeal buttermilk donuts and the pineapple cake. This food got a thumbs up from everyone, but especially the 2 family members who have visited China. Our favorite dishes were the char siu mushrooms, the crispy tofu and sweet potatoes, and the cornmeal buttermilk donuts. I loved how the spice was balanced with other flavors, like acidity. I've recently become addicted to TKO! I have only gotten takeout but every thing I've had delivered was incredible. Their spring roll is a MUST. It's crunchy and delightful and tastes so fresh. The dipping sauce is a perfect addition. I liked the Polynesian chicken but it wasn't my favorite. My favorites have really been the Bourbon Chicken Fried Rice and the Lo Mein. read more

This is always my spot for Chinese whenever I get a hankering for some. I've had the bourbon chicken fried rice, garlic fried rice and the pork fried rice. I try to get something new every time. I haven't came across a dish I haven't liked yet. If you are a garlic fiend, then the garlic fried rice is for you! It actually has chunks of garlic in it all softened up throughout the rice. The bourbon fried chicken rice is not your mall food court kind lol. Still it was a delicious and savory dish. I could have used more chicken in it but that's just me. The pork fried rice has a kick if spicy is your thing. Not a lot but just right. The serving I got with this order was the biggest portion I've had yet. Unfortunately, the restaurant itself is not open for dine in. They are doing carry out only and take orders online and over phone. Payment is due at time of order. When you pick it up, swing around to the back entrance and there are tables outside the door covered by a tent. This is where you pick up your orders. Best egg rolls on the planet. So giant. Homemade Polynesian sauce to go with them, not a little packet. Portion sizes are huge if you order any of the fried rice dishes. We can split one between 2-3 or us if we get an entree to go with it. If you get the fried rice and an entree it's enough for 2- 3 people. If you just order an entree, get a side of rice with it and you're golden. Apps are always plenty to share between 2 people. I love the dry fried broccoli or the green beans. We like to get a fried rice and a TKO chicken and whatever noodles are on the menu and a couple of apps. Everything's always fantastic and we're always full with leftovers. read more

The Food is fantastic I have been there a few times but always for take out. I decided to bring my friend to share the experience dining there. But unfortunately our server was extremely rude. She wasn't too busy because there wasn't a lot of people dining. I was taken back by it because I love this place! She brought very small to go boxes after she made us feel rushed and when we asked for a larger box she actually tried to argue that the small boxes were plenty big enough. My tofu was supposed to come with oyster mushrooms and instead came with button mushrooms, which I hate. Ordered Uber Eats takeout on a Sunday night. Got the TKO chicken, garlic fried rice, mapo tofu and a side of white rice. Total of around $50. The fried rice was bland and oily but did taste vaguely garlicky. The chicken was by far the best part of the meal but the portion size is pretty disappointing for the money. The mapo tofu was the absolute worst part of the entire meal. The sauce was watery and incredibly bland. The only discernible flavor was some heat. The entire thing needed salt desperately and no taste of doubanjang or Sichuan peppercorns could be found. Overall not worth the money and will unfortunately not reorder. read more

Just Meh. Decent place to stop in for some shared small plates, etc. but overall nothing that will really make me go out of my way to go back. We went in on a Saturday night around 7pm and were one of only 3 tables. In looking around, none of the other patrons had any food yet, so we tried to go on and put in our order in case everyone was seating at the same time. It took probably 15 or so minutes after ordering to get our food, so not a bad wait. The waitress was friendly and made sure our waters were always filled. However, when we got our food, the portion sizes were quite SMALL for the price. I ordered one of their special appetizers for the evening which was their Asian BBQ ribs (around $8-9). You literally got 3 tiny ribs. While they were honestly the best thing we ate, and the flavors, sauces, and meat was delicious, it was a meager portion for the cost. We also ordered the fried potatoes and there was probably the equivalent of 1 or 2 small potatoes diced and fried in the bowl. Again, flavors were decent on this dish, but the portion was minuscule. When it came to the mains or their rice dishes, we decided to go with their bourbon chicken fried rice. To say "chicken" in this is a misnomer, as we literally had MAYBE 3 teeny-tiny shreds of actual chicken in our rice. The flavor was just 'ok' and nothing to write home about. Another in our group ordered the pulled pork fried rice and it was next to awful. The flavor was terrible and the rice was dry as could be. Even their house spicy soy sauce didn't add enough flavor to make this dish worth $10-12. At the end of the meal we paid and left, but were still hungry and a bit regretful. We have been eating here on and off since they opened and everything has always been delicious! I recently began to eat more gluten free and we noticed the menu here is a match made in heaven. The service is awesome, and the sharable vegetables plates have both had me craving more green beans and trying purple cauliflower on purpose. The Tiki Punch cocktail was delicious with a brilliant add of Orgeat, the Szechuan green beans were perfect, fried rice had crispy onions, and the beef and broccoli was on point. I can't say enough good things about this gem of a place. We went there on a weeknight 30 minutes before closing time and we loved every single thing we ordered. And we were blown away by the chili Paste by the owner/chef, Ryan. The food was so flavorful .. and the chili paste was so good that we wanted to buy a bottle. Unfortunately, they don't sell them. My one wish was that there was some sort of sweet add to the fried rice, I threw on some sriracha mayo I had at home but some sauce would've helped, nonetheless then flavor of the chicken was good and the rice was superb, the tofu was also cooked extremely well, but what sold me was the pineapple glaze/sauce, really elevated the dish for me and made it stand out. I wanna love this place because there are VERY few Chinese or Chinese style restaurants that you can brag about in Nashville. They have some tasty items on their menu but it feels like it needs to be a trendy place first that serves something that isn't American style food. Not to mention how expensive their dishes are for something you know that you can get in any Chinatown in big cities for half the price. I can't base my review on what items I would like to see on their menu but what they do offer are good but nothing I would order as a go-to spot. For East Nashville, this place is necessary because between Far East, Vui's, I don't count Koi or that Chinese drive thru on Gallatin, there aren't many options to choose from where in other cities, there would be abundance of good/great Chinese restaurants. read more

So first off, do not read the bad reviews the food is amazing!!! Been here twice since Monday. Not pretentious or flashy but fresh and delicious!! The owner and chef, Ryan, is lovely I'm from Atlanta . I travel with my job as does my friend I was staying with during my visit to Nashville so we eat at 4/5 star restaurants regularly and occasionally the Michelin 2 star. I wanted to love this place. I like the idea of Chinese/Southern fusion. I like that gratuity is included in the prices (yay for paying everybody equally!). I just didn't like the food, y'all...I don't know, not much else to say about that. The menu changes frequently, but we got the emperor's chicken ($19) and the general tso's cauliflower with fried tofu and rice ($18). The emperor's chicken was ok, the fry was good on the chicken, it was just a little bland and didn't taste like much. Randomly once I got a huge chunk of ginger in that dish, which makes me think there were just execution issues with it. The general tso's cauliflower on the other hand was terrible. All I tasted was overwhelmingly SWEET, but like an artificial sweet flavor. Almost like I was eating pineapple juice and that's it. We ate a quarter of that dish and half of the chicken dish, then left to eat somewhere else. This place was awesome! We had the Pulled Pork Fried Arica and the TKO Chicken (you can also select tofu) along with the egg rolls as an app. Could not have been more pleased too to bottom. The service was amazing and the folks there are friendly and welcoming. They have a modest bar with lots of selections of drafts as well as specialty cocktails that look delicious. We were short on time and wish we had more time to hang in this open concept place. You can watch them prepare your food with care. Looks like they have a really great takeout business as well.
